Do you think it will be the same as my fiancee sent it thru email?

I can't say for sure as it never happen to me. I just followed the instruction on P3 which is to mail. However, they instructed you otherwise, so maybe? For the photo and passport copy, I remember the person who did the first/screening interview at the embassy saw that I already submitted a 2x2 photo beforehand so he never asked for another one. So maybe, you're fine in that regard.

Did she already have the MRV fee receipt before sending the DS-160? I'm not sure if this info is important, but after paying, I received an email stating "receipt #... has been activated and you can now schedule the interview" In my case I payed the MRV Fee before sending the DS-16. I can only guess but if she haven't payed yet, maybe that's the reason why it's taking too long for your interview appointment.

Check all the link Greenbaum posted especially the P3 as it will help you. 😀

  2. Based from my experience these are the things I did and received during my K1 process in Riyadh...

    1. I never received any kind of snail mail from the U.S Embassy in Riyadh during the whole process except for the visa. However, my husband then-fiance received the Packet 3 through e-mail.
    2.  I gather all the documents listed on Packet 3 except for medical exam.
    3. Sends the DS-160 confirmation page, photocopy of passport, and 2 pcs photo as per U.S visa dimension requirement. All of which are stated in the Packet 3 instruction.
    4. I e-mail the embassy to confirm they have received my DS-160 etc...
    5. After 12 working days I received an interview appointment letter from the U.S. embassy through e-mail
    6. I did my medical exam immediately after I received interview appointment letter
    7. Went to the interview with the sealed medical exam result along with documents listed on P3. My visa was approved on the same day of the interview.
    8. 3 working days after my visa interview, I received my passport with a visa attached on it through SMSA courier.

I am not sure but I think once the petition is received by U.S embassy in Riyadh, they will e-mail the petitioner to notify the receipt of the case, the instruction and Packet 3 link. Again this is just per my experience.

It took approximately 4 weeks for when I send my DS-160 confirmation page along with the passport copy and photo to receiving my Visa through mail.

I hope this help lessen your anxiety.

  3. @jeaniecz

Our situation is different as I applied for Credential Evaluation Professional Report instead of a Certification Program and took IELTS instead of TOEFL iBT. I’m not so sure how to answer you.

I can only suggest you e-mail CGFNS instead of calling them, provide them your TOEFL registration number and ask if they can update it since you have a problem doing so. I’ve read in some forum that one applicant was able to do so on her IELTS result but not on TOEFL though. If not, then just ask how to do it. There are times that they answer better in e-mail.

Another thing you can do is to go to allnurses.com forum where you can find vast information with regards to NCLEX, CGFNS application etc... Some nurses there might be able to answer your question.

You might also want to check out this link https://allnurses.com/cgfns-virginia-board-toefl-t679399/ .

Btw, may I ask why you applied for CP instead of CES?

    Good luck! 🙂

  4. Sharing my experience as a foreign graduate nurse who came to the U.S on a K1 visa. This may not be the same exact process you will undergo but I hope this will help and guide you somehow. 🙂

Before you start your credential evaluation with CGFNS, check first the requirements of the Board of Nursing where you're planning to apply (it varies per state).

    1. When can I start my registration with CGFNS? Would it be okay to do this before I move to the USA? I am not sure which documents they will require me to submit and it would be much easier to get legislated copies of diplomas with apostille etc while I am still in Europe (I guess)

It would be better to start your application with CGFNS while you're in the Netherlands as it usually takes 3-4 months before they actually review and approve your credentials. With regards to documents, make your online account with CGFNS then order the required evaluation (check with the BON which one they require), then they will provide you forms and list of documents they need from you. Generally, they will give you a request form to be filled out by your university/college for your transcript of records in which they (not you) need to mail it directly to CGFNS. If you have a nursing license in the Netherlands, your local regulatory board needs to send your nursing license verification directly to them as well. Some other documents like a copy of your high school diploma can be uploaded online.

Depending on the state you're applying for, some state will require you to passed International English Language Test and the result should be sent directly to CGFNS. You can do this at a later time after you have submitted your nursing credential with them. However, CGFNS will not issue the report unless you passed the IELTS test. I think state of Virginia and Maryland requires IELTS if your nursing program was not taught in English.

I hope that if I start my application for the nursing licence before moving to the US (or before receiving my Green Card), it couldn't be interpreted as violating my immigration status

I already have my U.S nursing license before I even came to the United States. I never encountered any issue during the whole immigration process. So, I think you should be good.

Good luck on your new journey! 😃

  5. After you mailed the ds160 confirmation page along with the other documents, pay the visa interview, and received an email stating your MRV receipt number has been activated, U.S Embassy will e-mail the interview appointment letter to the e-mail address that you used when you filled out the ds160. I received mine 2 weeks after my MRV receipt has been activated.

Should you have any other concern with the upcoming interview, schedule, or wants to confirm if they received the ds160 confirmation page that you mailed them, you can always email the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh (RiyadhIV@state.gov). It usually takes 3-5 business days for them to reply but they do answer questions, just make sure you include your case number, ds160 confirmation page number (if any), petitioners name, and beneficiaries name in your e-mail.

    Good luck.🙂

  6. Sharing the things that I did and my personal experience with the U.S Embassy in Saudi Arabia 2017.

It took about a little over 3 weeks for them to send me an interview schedule for my K1 visa application after they received my DS160 through their recommended courier, SMSA.

    Interview day:

Cellphones and any liquid products are prohibited inside the consulate. Not sure if there are any lockers to put in your personal belongings like phones but I didn't notice any. They did not even allow me to bring my tiny bottle of hand sanitizer.

She will be given a number at the reception. There will be two interviews.

    1. The first one I think is just a screening. The gentleman at the window took all the documents that I brought that was listed in Packet 3 and ask me a few questions. Like where did we meet, how many years I have known my fiance, and if we have met in person and number of times he visited me. He was more thorough with the documents that I brought than the questions.  Then I was asked to go back to my seat and wait for the next call.
    2. Second interview. This is with the consul who will decide on the case. I was asked the same question that I was previously asked with some additions, like how many siblings does my fiance have and what are their jobs and how long did he stay in my country for a visit etc... no questions out of the ordinary that one cannot answer who's in a bonafide relationship.

The only hurdle I have encountered is the affidavit of support I-864. My then fiance, now husband doesn't have tax return in the past 3 years and he doesn't have a job at that time. Although I thought that his bank statement and other things that I showed shows that he can support me are enough but this was not the case for the consul (I think they are following a Federal Poverty Guideline for it ) and he still wanted tax return. I was asked that my fiance get a joint sponsor before he approved my visa. (I was already teary-eyed and very sad at this point)

Having said that I still wanted to prove and convince him that I will not be a public charged when I arrived in the U.S, hence, I told him that I am a licensed Registered Nurse in the U.S and showed him my  U.S  nursing license and certificate  and that I can apply for a job as soon as I get my EAD. He then asks me a few questions about it and then decided to approve my visa. What a relief! I was so happy the whole day like nothing else matter. ☺️

Just make sure your fiancee have all the necessary documents listed in Packet 3, and that the documents you submitted along with the I-864 are complete.

    Best of luck!!! 😊
