Hey, when did you get DQ (Documentarily Qualified) from NVC?

I think it was after I got PC, so might be between 20th - 25th Nov 2020. If I remember it correctly, that was the only thing that was required after we submitted everything

PCC is now valid for 2 yearshttps://fam.state.gov/fam/09FAM/09FAM050404.html

Police certificates are valid for two years from the date of their issuance. This includes police certificates from any country visited or inhabited subsequent to the previous clearances but does not apply to police certificates from an area to which the applicant has not returned since previous clearances. Consular officers may request updated police certificates if there is a concern that an individual has a more recent police record that should be reviewed. Any other supporting documents that are subject to change, except for police certificates, are valid for one year.

Is it valid for those certificates as well, in which it clearly states “This certificate is only valid for one year”?

  3. Hi All,

We got PD on December 2020 for CR-1. And it seems like Next Month our appointment date will be sent to us. Now, to submit PCC at NVC, we got it and submitted it on November 2020. My PCC issue date is of 18th Nov 2020 which is valid till 18th Nov 2021. But as the possible timeline is nearing what if the interview date is after 20th Nov, and the current PCC no longer is valid. I’ve been told, they will not issue another one until current one is expired. Is that true? If it is then how is it possible to get PCC within days considering last time it took them 3 weeks?
We don’t want to get more delays or 221g. Any help or suggestions are warmly welcome. Thank you.

From my understanding (white American who has been in India for a while trying to wait for our CR-1) ECR is a system they use to prevent people who haven't completed 10th grade from ending up in abusive labor situations in above countries. There's a bit of worry about human trafficking for vulnerable people and I think it's a good approach help take care of people.

Best of luck with Indian marriage certificate. The special marriage act process can be slow. Advice from my experience: Make sure you have a drivers license that doesn't expire soon. Indian paperwork often requires a "permanent address" and American passports don't provide this. You'll need to go to the USA embassy to get something like a "no objection certificate". Make sure your no objection cert and marriage cert both contain the address exactly as on your license. And double check everything they give you back... corruption often reveals itself as a slyly placed typo in forms and you'll want to get those fixed before leaving marriage office.

    Hi @9000miles

I just submitted my and her documents to the marriage center, They did ask me to bring "Single Status Certificate" on the date of marriage(I think its the same thing as 'NOC') & asked me to notify her to get it from US Embassy/Consulate or Local Government Body.

Now, as she lives like 7-8 hours away from Chicago,(nearest US embassy) Do you think NOC from India's US Embassy would be acceptable? Because it would be more convenient for me & her as she's preparing for the trip to India. And appointments are easy to get here as I was informed by the receptionist here.

I would start researching now......because weighing all the coverage, cost, deductible, and other factors will take some time........It isn't as easy as selecting a plane ticket.  It can be a little complicated.........

We are discussing and making sure we get the right one as I am typing this... but how about I-130 package... do I have to buy insurance right now to include them in I-130 package or I can provide it in later stages?

  6. Hello,

First I’d like to say I have read all 22 pages of this and it was worth it as I found out a lot insightful and informative information which will help me in the future. But I need to know about my case from well informed individuals here.

So, my wife will be applying CR-1 for me later this year here’s few things about our journey.

    - My wife is on disability and she herself is on Medicare.

    - Her Mom will be sponsoring for me.

    - I plan to buy an individual insurance (364 days one)

My question to you guys is Should I buy the insurance right now for I-130 package or at NVC stage or at Interview stage? Furthermore, would They consider if I have insurance in my country or that doesn’t matter at all?

  7. Hi All,

Is ECR Passport required for CR - 1 Visa?

My 10th CBSE Marksheet is misplaced (I do have 12th Marksheet but I have read only 10th Marksheet can be applied as it has DOB)and while I can retrieve that from Delhi by visiting their head office. I want to know as ECR only applies to only  'those' certain Gulf countries. Is it required for CR-1 Visa? Again, I can get my marksheet  but question is do I HAVE TO?

    Thanks!!

  8. Hi All,

Before I ask the obvious, I wanna first day this is really a wonderful and helpful website. And all you people who help others are amazing.

Secondly, Me and my fiancée are gonna marry in Mumbai in August this year and she’s gonna file for CR 1 Visa from Wisconsin. So, I’ll be asking lots of questions after August too but thats August. Lol.

Anyway, I just want to ask is there any way that we can open a joint bank account in India or in USA. Also, what is the safest and simple mode/way to transfer money to each other. I have heard tons of options like Paypal and etc but I wanted to have an input from here. Is there a way can someone help us in this situation?

    Thank You!
