I was looking all over for my interview result paper. His name was Mccall, N. Funny and super nice African American :)

    All the best to you!

Thank you...I only asked because of my experience with Philadelphian officer S. Descano was completely opposite. The most horrible interview in my life and 2 months of complete silence afterward 😒

Hi guys, so my journey finally has reached the end today as I received my oath date schedule and it will be on April 22 at Philadelphia office. Because I really appreciate all your helps when I was panicking after my interview 3 weeks ago I decide that I would contribute by updating my case and give you some more details that may be helpful to you in the future. I know for sure this wouldn’t happen if I didn’t receive helps from many of you here. To save some time, I attached here the previous post of my interview date and the reason why I got RFE

I came to the US in 2010 as a student and in 2014 I married my husband while my student visa and F-1 status were both in good standing. My husband is 10 years older than me, he didn’t have a stable job at the time but we managed to make him my primary sponsor. We got married in Aug 2014 and not until March 2015 that I started to submit my application. We had joint 2014 tax return then (I of course made 0 income :)), lived in our in laws house, started a joint checking and saving, and started to transfer the gas bill into his name. No joint car ownership or health insurance at the time (I got covered by my school mandatory health plan and didn’t know how to drive). Our first interview was pleasant, we just chatted about airport and travel with the IO, and she kept a few photos of us in the file. We were approved right then, and I got my green card in June, a mere 3 months after filing. Started my ROC in 03/2017, still joint tax return with me only making a few thousands in 2016 with my internship and documents of my school loan. Again lease, utilities, joint bank, photos and in 2016 I first got my DL so we submitted that to show we lived in the same address. Took almost a year (04/2018) for me to receive my 10yr GC with no interview, but it was one of the batch that have incorrect date so they had to send me a new one and I finally got it in May 2018. I graduated from college in April 2017 and didn’t start working until October 2017, again was careless so I didn’t think to share health insurance with my husband for the sake of N400. After a few years of multiple contractor jobs, my husband got one with full benefits and we decided it’s cheaper to have separate health insurance so we just kept it that way. Submitted my application in early Aug 2018, got biometric in 2 weeks and receive my interview letter Feb 2019 for March 19. Then I was sent home with RFE, freaked out, came here for help and finally sent my package back April 9 by mail. It reached the office the 10 and by the 11 afternoon, when I checked my status showed case approved. And I couldn’t believe my eye when today it changed to oath was scheduled and it’s in 10 days. I just can’t believe how fast Philadelphia office processed my case and am super grateful for this. I believe my prayers to Buddha has brought me luck :)

Tips: For our bona fide evidence, we actually don’t have much compared to many couples here, and many have advised me to write a cover letter to explain why we don’t have joint health insurance or car insurance (husband driver license was suspended so it’s impossible!) but we think that the more we try to explain it may appear like we are covering our asses and since the start we didn’t have those documents so I decided not to write a cover letter. Instead I divided them into sections with paper clips and a sticky notes on each of the clips describing what documents are in here (Ex: tax payments receipts for 2018 - this was the reason why we gor RFE in the first place, so PLEASE pay attention to your tax, if you owe, submitted receipt to show that you paid; W2s and IRS transcripts since 2014; leases and bills of current address...). I also did this for my ROC and I believe my bright orange sticky notes had contributed to my success :) Jk, but I do think that those extra notes show the IO that I care.

I can’t believe Im in the US for almost 10 years now and soon I will become a proud citizen. Good luck to you all who are still in the process, it’s dreadful, but totally worth it. I’m super lucky to have Philadelphia office as my immigration destination.

Sorry for the lengthy post again, I hope you will find it helpful!

Congrats! Who was your IO? Just curious...

Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm in a similar administrative limbo, so I can relate. You can travel abroad without issues, so long as your trip is less than 6 months at a time and you maintain a residence here in the US. If you need to, book an infopass appointment and get a new stamp. On the other hand, relocating abroad before your oath of naturalization can harm your citizenship application.

Thank you so much for your reply!

Well, about relocating my plan was not to inform the USCIS about that, redirect the mail to relatives address and just come back for the Oath Ceremony (if that will be scheduled after my leaving). Of course, in case of nothing within 6 months abroad, I'll have to return...do you think this is too much gamble with them?

On the other hand, I sincerely hope to clear the situation before the end of summer...don't they have only 120 days to make a decision after the N-400 interview?...

  4. Hi,

I currently have I-751 and N-400 in the pending state. I had my N-400 interview on Feb, 14th, but IO couldn't make a decision and I haven't heard anything from them since then. I already submitted 2 inquiries and spoke with Tier 2, no success whatsoever - "We are still reviewing your case.  We will mail you notice when we make a decision" is all I get. So currently I only have a stamp in my passport which will expire in 2 months.

    Now about travels:

    1) I want to go visit my family abroad for 2 weeks at the beginning of May

    2) I and my husband are planning to relocate out of state or possibly out of the country in July/August

Can any of these plans affect my immigration situation at this point? I truly hope they will make a decision by then but knowing USCIS you never know what to expect...LOL

Please advice. Thank you in advance!

Today, i've attended my USCIS Citizenship interview, from previous experience, this interview is focused on validating information submitted by applicant and fixing any errors or misspells, Correcting information and then submitting the documents for approval by the USCIS agent.

At 12:30 i arrived in the office of USCIS with the address above, handed my letter to the window lady, she welcomed me and asked me to wait till someone come and ask about me, i said thank you and waited like everyone else.

After a while of waiting a lady comes open the door and ask my name, I smiled and turned off my phone, she asked for my ID, i pulled it off my pocket and we walked to her office, I mentioned that my 2018 Tax return paperwork is here and i would like to submit it into my files, She rejected it, said i have to Notarize it, Please understand that's not true, The paper is printed off IRS.GOV and no one ask for that yet i asked her if i can go today, do it and bring it, she refused. after asking me the first question if i was married,  knowing that my application states that am separated, i hesitated in answering since the divorce was finalized days before attending my interview, i didnt have court Decree of Dissolution of Marriage yet, then out of nowhere, this lady started stating that i might be lying and that she will not accept any answer, i tried explaining that i am divorced yet she started shouting that she is Federal Officer and i will only answer her questions by Yes or No,  i answered yes, i am Divorced, she stated that i dont have any proof and that i have to keep it as Married, not Separated or Divorced, Married. i didn't have a choice because she wont give me any chance to talk, When i open my mouth she reject and talk over me with no regard or respect, she was abusive and very angry!.

i gave this lady the benefit of the doubt and just stayed quiet waiting for the next questions, every question she asked came with insulting violent demeaning attitude!, i am surprised! am stunt! what is going on here! she is attacking me and when i want to say anything she shout and threatening me to Reschedule my interview for later date, every time she ask me in an extremely rude way a questions, she do not take the answer, she is mad at me! she is treating me like a criminal who done something wrong! i didn't do anything to her! she is using the Law and Federal powers to torture me!, She refused to explain a question.

Before i continue writing few focused points that shock me and stressed me, i would like to note that i have been living in the United States as legal Permanent resident for 6 years, In all of these years, i have followed the Law, Paid my taxes, Never been in jail or conflict, i have never violated traffic laws, I have ties to my ex-wife family, i am there every year and we all love each other and they want me to stay as part of the family as i do, i have clean record with every right to be eligible in this citizenship interview, This interview suppose to be easy clean respectful.

With that been said, i have continued the interview, my chest started hurting me, my stomach is hurting me, i've never been talked to like this, i started shaking out of stress and she continues firing at me. We reached the point where i had questions about the history of the United states, i answered the questions and passed it, English reading and writing, i did answer those and passed, It came to the last question of " perform work of national importance " i said Yes, i would do it for this country, she said do you understand what it means, i said yes i would do anything for this country because i love this country and its my home, she interrupted me to say, I Didn't ask you that, i said okay please explain the question, she refused and said You're suppose to know that before you came in here! Am not here to answer your questions, You're here to answer my questions!. From what i've seen, she just needed a reason to make me fail in the test, she came true with her threat, with everything i endured, a letter to come again in 60 days. By then i realized her mind is set! she doesn't want to process anything for me, SHE HATES ME!, I asked her why are you doing this! She freaked out and started shouting that i've insulted her for asking that, it was unacceptable to ask that!, it was out of line and i shout shut up and only speak when spoken to!!!!!

I was speechless, am in shock, she writes up stuff on her computer and then she asked me to stand up, i did, she said Stand in the hallway and i did, then follow me.. she escorted me outside, gave me a paper says that I Failed to "Understand English", that i will be given another chance, she said "You can go", Her name was Duhart S. as the paper says.

Am not understanding what just happened, I had the paper and on my way out i realised that she can't do that, she is abusing her power so i turned back and went to the window, i asked to speak to someone about this lady, i wanted to see someone else and i want to complain about her!, on the window they asked me to wait till they call for me, i did, 10 minutes later the window lady said that 3 Supervisors are busy in a meeting, i can take your complain on a plain paper, that's easier for you, i refused to take that option, she said it will be 3 hours before anyone can see you, i said i will wait, am not going anywhere without complaining about Ms Duhart,  she said alright, your choice. i thanked her and sat down again. 10 minutes later the Supervisor came over and i said my peace about how she abused me and disrespected me and "Abused her powers to make me fail", i requested to be interviewed by another officer, she said alright, have a seat. 10-15 minutes later Officer Carter comes in and invite me for interview, he was respectful, he asked me the questions with ease and calm, he showed me my application which Ms Duhart didn't, he showed me some of my application sections that been removed by her, she intentionally removed key points to delay my application, she sabotaged my chance of becoming a citizen, she removed my request to edit my name spelling and Officer Carter helped me fill it back again, He was professional about it yet it didn't help to get my approval recommendation, He answered my questions, he explained points and listened, That was what i expect from my interview.

My friends, I have endured her demeaning, insulting, abusive rude yelling at me during the interview to avoid any delay to my paperwork, i have witnessed her deleting my request to edit my name spelling, she just removed it, without asking, she refused to listen to my voice, she refused to answer my questions, she accused me of being insultive. With no regard for accountability, She forged her result just to delay me and reschedule me!

please advice me, I have written a small summary to the Office of Inspector General, a Report of Abuse, Mismanagement and Misconduct to the Department of Homeland Security, am not satisfied, i don't think this is enough.

"Edit: While going through application with Officer Carter, All my answers about saying No to being in military, Jail, Offences, All questions that i said no to, were Deleted, No answer was filled, i've seen it from the iPad screen while the new answers are set right by Officer carter and Duhart answers were EMPTY."

Sounds very much like my interview. Very very similar behavior of the officer. I wish I called for the supervisor right afterward as you did...Now I didn't hear anything from them for more than a month after the interview at this point...I hope my IO didn't remove parts of my applications :(

Yes in case they issue RFE, joint tax return will be a great evidence.

Thank you, I think it's good advice to fill it now. April is coming soon anyway lol.

Eh, I really hope they will get to look at my case soon. So tired of waiting (21 months since filled green card ROC and nothing there as well). Living with the extension letters/stamp in my passport for almost 2 years...😞

Did u give then your 2018 joint tax return or any new evidence of continuing relationship?

Well, as stated above I didn't bring NEW evidence to the interview. Only originals of the old one.

A couple of weeks ago I uploaded some new evidence into my personal online account as additional documents section for my case (even though it says that USCIS technically not required to look at them) - it was a recent statement from our joint bank account, lease extension, envelope to our address with both names on it and 10 more pictures.

We didn't file taxes yet therefore don't have 2018 return. Do you think it might be useful to do it asap?

    Any  developments?

RFE's are usually issued within 30 days of the interview.

No at all :( Only receiving this message every 2 weeks - They didn't even touch my case since the interview.

We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time

We will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on your case on February 14, 2019.

I guess you're pretty new on VJ that's why you're not aware how USCIS works, they do asked more evidences specially the most updated one even if its not listed on the letter.

I guess was pretty stupid to rely on their guidelines, since yeah it is USCIS lol. I just didn't expect any problems because my K1 and first green card interviews passed super smoothly and we never had an issue with evidence (always submitted a bunch of stuff with original applications...)

I guess just a matter of luck in this system...

  11. On 3/7/2019 at 3:10 PM, Lemon23 said:

Did you bring most updated documents of your evidences? Did the officer ask you to provide one during interview?

What I know, they  usually ask for the most updated documents to check if the marriage is still on going or not even you brought your husband on the day of your interview.

Well, I just followed their guidelines and brought all originals of previously submitted documents...The officer didn't ask about anything specific...just said: "most likely you will need to provide more evidence" 🙁

another sad part is that my I-751 is pending for almost 21 months at this point and I guess it was supposed to be resolved during the N-400 interview which obviously didn't happen as well...so now I don't have a green card or naturalization certificate just an old stamp in my passport which will expire soon...😭

  12. Hi,

Maybe someone had a similar experience and can help with advice...

I had my naturalization interview on Feb 14th, 2019. I applied based on marriage after 3 years of residency. The interview went horribly bad, the officer was extremely mean and acted like I'm a criminal and it's some kind of interrogation...at the end of the interview he said that decision can not be made yet and he most likely will send me RFE to prove marriage relationship and living together (even though I've attached all possible proofs like taxes, lease, bank statements, insurance, pictures etc.. and moreover my husband even came to the interview with me but the officer didn't want to speak with him).

So, it's been 3 weeks so far and no updates whatsoever. No RFE, no approval, no denial...nothing. The status of my case is still displayed as "The interview was scheduled". I called USCIS today and they said no action has been taken yet. How long does it typically take for them? Most of the stories I heard people received RFE right after the interview or the next day...

Is there anything I can do to speed up this situation? Please advice. Thank you!
