  1. Hi guys,

So my Oath ceremony is scheduled to be next Wednesday, December 4th. It's actually already the second one since I had to cancel my first ceremony due to relocation to another state.

Today I received an update in my USCIS account that my "Case is transferred to another field office for review". Should I be worried about it? My in-law is flying all the way across the country to attend with me...wound't want her to do it in-vain.

    Hi Dilip

    i don’t know it’s combo interview or only N400.

    how I get answer?

my local office is Newark NJ

     Thx

I had very similar situation. It looks like your I-751 is waiting for approval. I don't think you should worry. As soon as they approve I-751, naturalization approval will follow.

    here is my timeline:

Feb 14, 2019 - N-400 interview (decision can't be made, no rfe or anything)

    5 months of silence

    July 17, 2019 - I-751 approved

    August 30, 2019 - N-400 approved

I don't think there is anything you can do. I tried to contact senators and congress people but USCIS doesn't seem to care.

Just to get it over with all the uncertainty of the N-400 process, I would fly over to Philly and attend the oath. But in my case, I would not just go over there, take the oath and then fly back. I would take my new naturalization certificate and new flag with me to go the historical parks like the Liberty Bell, The Betsy Ross House, The Museum of American Revolution... I should visit Philadelphia too! Then finally go to the USPS to submit my application for US passport. I'll think of the $500 as an early Christmas gift for myself!

Haha that sounds like very awesome plan! Too bad, I've lived in Philly for 2 years and already went to all these places

At Adil's naturalization ceremony,  3 people did not show

The immigration officer made a motion before the court to reschedule these

I would make sure they know of the change of address by wirting to both the court address In  phily and to USCIS

why to court? I didn't change the name and as far as I understand my ceremony is not supposed to be in the court but just USCIS office

  5. Hello,

I recently relocated to another state and as soon as I moved to my new apartment I submitted USCIS request to change the address. Unfortunately, timing was very bad and somehow despite of update of the address they scheduled my Oath back in the old state.

In a week lol. In Philadelphia! Of course, I can't attend :(

How do I reschedule? It seems that they have sent original notice to the correct address in Montana (I never received it yet but I can see in my online profile). Should I wait for original document to arrive and send it back to Philadelphia? Or can I just send the PDF from online system?

    Please advice.

OMGod, now I have some some hope. I Had interview in May, same things happened with I751. So, no help to write to the government?!

Well from my experience USCIS didn't tell anything different to their request...The standard answer given to everyone was "The case is pending. We are unable to give the estimated time of completion". No reasons, no timing...so pretty useless IMO. But yeah congress and senator people were nice to me and willing to help (so I guess not their fault lol)

  7. Yesterday finally my status of N-400 has changed to "Application is approved and waiting for the oath to be scheduled". I had my N-400 interview in February, 2019 (they couldn't approve because of pending I-751) and I-751 they approved in July, 2019. They never asked for RFE or any other information...the case was just pending for all this time.

So I guess this is what happens sometimes if you don't get approved on the spot...yes, I contacted senators and congressmen and did an infopass apt, but it never helped 🤷‍♀️

Well now I only worry if they received my address change petition which I've submitted a week ago.  LOL so many things happened in my life since then, now I am in another state and praying for soon oath and the end of dealing with USCIS.

If you have 400 pending at the same time, they most likely won't bother sending you the 10 year green card. It makes sense if they are adjudicating your 400, what do you need the green card for if your 400 will be approved soon? Don't worry about the 10 year green card if you have 400 pending, they approved my 751 but never sent me the 10 year card as my 400 was also being adjudicated. I was naturalized last May. Good luck.

From what I read most of the people do receive actual green cards in this case...and also, I really doubt they will make a decision on my N-400 any time soon. I just relocated to the new state and I'm sure will take a while to pick it up here.

It's way past 120 days after the interview so I suggest you call USCIS, talk to a tier 2 IO and inquire about your case. I doubt though that you'll have another interview unless they see something in your file. I think calling them up will ease your mind.

Regarding naturalization ceremonies in Montana for this year, here's the link :

    https://www.mtd.uscourts.gov/naturalization

The whole state only has one ceremony each month. At least you'll have an idea when and where they're going to be held. Best wishes!

yeah I talked to them, but basically the response was that they couldn't make a decision until I-751 is resolved so I don't think 120 days rule is applied there..Although now it's approved, a month ago. So theoretically nothing is stopping them...except of sending my case to another field office and picking it up from the line there...ughh

  10. Hi,

I just relocated to the new state with pending naturalization case. I already had my N-400 interview in February, 2019. I passed the tests but they couldn't make a decision due to pending I-751 which was finally approved in July, 2019. The status of my N-400 still shows "We scheduled your interview..." so I assume they didn't touch it for a long time..So does anyone know what will happen now after I submitted a change of address request? I assume they will transfer my case to the new office but will it get to the end of the waiting line? Will they make me to do another interview? Did someone has similar experience?

My old office is Philadelphia, my new office is Montana.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I went for interview on June 28, both I-751 and N-400 are approved on July 3, 2019 and I received GC on 12th and oath on 15th July.  So you will see the next update that card was mailed to you, then picked up by USPS with tracking number and then you will receive the card and you will get another update that card was delivered to you.

Well yeah...but I was more wondering about N-400...during the interview IO didn't approve it because of I-751 pending. he said I might receive RFE in the next few weeks which never happened. So I wonder if approving I-751 will trigger approving N-400 as well or they still might require more stuff..

Congratulations, at least you passed the hardest part. I hope to get to this point soon.

so this been so ling you said since Feb this means you exceeded 120 days which is over the limit by law. did you try to make inquiry or calling them? it looks their system is missed up.

One more questions, which local office was that?

My local office is Philadelphia. And I can say from what I read online most of the people are pretty happy with them.

About inquiries...well it's been 25 months (!!!!!) since I applied for I-751 and I made numerous amount of inquiries by phone, website or senators/congressman. The answer was always the same "Your case is pending and being actively reviewed. We will notify when make a decision". So I just gave up at some point...plus my life is a little bit crazy right now, I'm outside of the US and return only in mid August...so I wouldn't really want them to schedule an oath before that :(

    Hello Luna,

I have the almost the same situation, and haven't heard anything for 3 weeks. Did you get any updates?

Hi! Well, I never received the RFE...Actually I haven't heard from them anything since interview Feb, 14th until yesterday. Yesterday I got update that my new green card is being produced (I had I-751 pending). No updates about N-400 though. I've contacted senator and congressman couple months ago but they both were pretty useless to me...No idea what has caused such a huuuuuge delay. But we'll see what will happen next...

Did they say your case was lacking anything? We were told both would be approved back in his interview in March. Got approval letter for ROC and 10 year GC a week after interview but got a RFE for N400 for needing more relationship evidence even though everything was brought to interview and IO said everything was perfect. My question is if we didn't have satisfactory evidence why was the ROC approved at interview? None of this makes sense and surely the ROC demands more evidence than the N400. We are almost on day 70 post interview. If we could go back in time we would have waited to file N400 till after ROC was done.

Well, he did say they MAY need some more evidence but nothing specific. We had all the regular stuff on the file - lease, joint bank account, taxes, insurance, pics, letters from friends, etc. No kids though.

Every time i call or make a service request, it is all the same answer. "IT Is PENDING"

Damn, exactly the same! The last time they managed to write the whole paragraph which was still basically stating the same thing:

Based on your inquiry, we have reviewed the status of your case and found that it remains under active examination. This office acknowledges the completion of your case being outside normal processing times and realizes the inconvenience it may cause. The delay has been necessary in order to ensure the thorough processing of your case and provide you with the best possible service. USCIS will notify you as soon as possible if any further information is needed from you or when a decision has been made. We hope this information is helpful to you.

I so much wonder what's going on :(

I am in the same boat as you. Filed ROC Feb 2017 and N400 Feb 2018. Had my citizenship interview Feb.11th of this year and passed. (she checked the passed box) and asked some additional documents for my ROc which i provided the same day. Since then nothing.. im in a limbo.

my 120 day will be June 11th. hopefully we will hear positive updates soon.

Did you try to receive any information about why it takes so long? See, I'm not sure if 120 days rule applies to the situation when I-751 is pending...and I truly hope that my case is not just dusting on someone's desk like in one of the previous messages :(

I am on a similar boat, except my interview was earlier this month, so I guess I'll sit tight before sounding any alarms. But I'm ready to contact my congressman if it comes to that. Please let us know how the conversation with your congressman is going once you hear back from them.

Also, might I ask, were there any complications or "red flags" in your case, such as you and your spouse are living in different states? Or maybe you don't have joint accounts? Or maybe you got divorced? Stuff like that...

No, no red flags at all. Both of us have never been married before, never divorced, dating for 6 years, married for 4 years, always lived together...joint account, lease, insurances, letters from friends, pictures - tons of evidence. That's why this bs situation pissing me off so much. Especially because we have to fly abroad for more than a month in July (for work purposes)...and I'm stuck in this limbo :(

I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. What is your local office? I feel like it’s local office’s fault. They are super backlogged. My friend had something similar. She was waiting for her i751 petition decision (with divorce waver) and the case was just laying in the local office for over a year. When she went for InfoPass to stamp her passport she asked why was it so long. Officer told her that officer who was handling her case was no longer working for USCIS and her case was sitting on her desk ever since. That is purely ridiculous. Nobody even bothered to clean the office and look at the cases on the desk. I don’t know what to advice because I’m myself waiting for forever. Keep on calling, keep on submitting inquiries.

That's so strange because when I went to the infopass appointment the officer couldn't even tell me who's assigned to my case. I asked if that's the same IO who interviewed me for N-400 and she said she can't see such information...

My local office is Philly. I don't think they are very backlogged at least I've got my interview pretty fast.

  19. Hello! I'm June 2017 filler and had my N-400 interview in February 2019. Not sure if it was a combo or not (IO asked for evidence and relationship related questions but didn't call my husband in)...anyway, he didn't approve neither N-400 nor I-751 and I didn't hear anything back since then... made a bunch of calls, service requests, and info pass apt. All they can tell my both petitions are pending :( I had to go and get already second stamp in my passport ...so tired of this bs. Yesterday I wrote a letter to my congressman, not sure if that will help though.

My I-751 is pending for 23 months now (no RFE), N-400 is more than 90 days passed after the interview (I heard they have to make a decision within 120 days but not sure if this applied to my case).

Any other advice about what else can be done? Thanks!
