From what I understand, the document packets are delivered to a specific "mailroom" - which may or may not be physically located at the same place as the Consulate.  When someone at the mailroom picks up your packet it is scanned so that your status changes (it is no longer "in transit").  This first scan doesn't mean it is on an officer's desk.  It just means it is out of DHL's (sorry - not Fedex) hands and is back in the system.  Shouldn't be long - best of luck!

Ok- thanks! It must just still be waiting to be processed somewhere since the CEAC tracking status is still "in transit." Hoping next week brings good news, I guess!

It seems like mail to Australia is taking forever these days.  It will be flown to Sydney Airport, and then has to wait until it passes through Customs inspection.  It really depends on what else was in the mailbag and the baggage "pod" in the airplane.  And, your packet won't show up again (on the USCIS system) until it arrives at the Consulate and is scanned into their systems.

Were you able to track it using Fedex?

Thanks for your reply! Sorry if it wasn't clear - our case was sent from NVC to Sydney Embassy. I used the DHL tracking hack that has been shared in the NOA2 to NVC forums, which has seemed to be pretty accurate for others. As far as I know, DHL says it has been physically delivered to the Embassy on the 4th. I'm seeing most people get their P3 a bit quicker than us (according to the few timelines that are recently updated), but maybe they're just a little behind on putting it in the system. That's what I'm hoping at least!

  3. Hi- I am wondering what others experiences have been after their case was sent to the embassy in Sydney. Ours left on the 28th of May , and is still "in transit." From other's timelines, it seems like some get a packet in a few days and others a little longer. I'm assuming they just haven't processed it yet, but I'm getting worried something else may be wrong? Thanks!

Read over this information and follow the instructions:

Join the sub forum for Australia found here

    Embassy website

Last go to the top of this page and under the tab "portals" on the blue ribbon choose it and then search for your country. Lots of information there.

When executing your AFP be sure you use "You would choose the Commonwealth employment/Purpose for your Purpose Type and then Code 33 for Immigration/Citizenship as your Purpose of Check."

    Every other week.

    Thanks for

    your help @Greenbaum

They tend to go off of your most previous tax (currently 2018) so its highly possible they will ask for a co sponsor from you. If you're going to be at NVC after starting your new jobs then collect pay stubs and any assets (bank statements) etc and upload to NVC at the same time under additional documents. I know that in NZ the consular officers only go off of whatever you upload to CEAC website. Auckland consulate makes us post our documents at least 2 weeks before the interview and I added additional income documents and they told me I needed to upload them to CEAC because if they're not on the portal, then the officer can't/won't see them basically (and they generally decide your fate before you even have your interview).

So whatever you plan on having at the interview, make sure its on CEAC too. I've heard of people taking additional documents to their interviews and being put into AP until they uploaded them onto CEAC.

Thank you! That is kind of what I figured, I just have been finding conflicting advice. I had a cosponser lined up, so we’ll probably go with that route to stay safe.

  6. Hi!

I am a bit confused as to how to fill out the affidavit of support due to the current situation I am in. I lived in Australia with my fiancé August- March after graduating from grad school in May, so my overall savings are lower than usual and my 2018 tax statements do not meet the income requirement. However, I am currently working a temporary job and will be starting a two year fellowship this summer. Both jobs are paying/will pay me at a rate that is over the income requirement. Do I still need a cosponsor due to the lack of money/US income in the past few years even though I will be making enough for at least the next two years? Along with that, do you need to provide a bank statement, employer letter, and past tax statements for the interview in Sydney? I've been finding some conflicting information.

    Thank you!

  7. Congrats everyone that had been approved! I’m trying to stay patient, but getting anxious the more approvals I see. I know it’s all part of the process!

I noticed that someone with the case number after ours has been approved. Is that a good sign for us or does it really not mean anything? I know there’s little way to predict the way they process these. Just curious and trying to stay positive!

There is two ways you can approach this. You can change your address to your "new living address" or you can maintain your parent's address if you feel better about getting your mail. If you decide to change your address then visit USCIS.gov and locate change of address instructions. Technically you are to report your new address within 10 days but I don't think you'll be arrested or denied on the grounds of not changing your physical address.

    Great, thanks for this information!

  9. Hello! When I filed in January I was living  in Australia with my fiancé but have since moved back to the US for a job. He’s still in Australia waiting for approval.

My question is if I need to submit an address change if my mailing address is still correct? I used my parent’s address in the US for the mailing address (and successfully received NOA1), but my current living address has obviously changed. Do they want to know im

back living in the country?  Anyone had experience with this? Thanks! :)
