If it's a matter of the length of your name (how many letters will fit on the card), don't worry.

I see. My full name is correct, just the one missing letter in my middle name. And it seems that they also followed it on my Drivers License and SSN, I think even on the Credit Union where I have a card 😅 I hope I won't have any problem with this institutions in the future.

When my asawa moved to the USA we got a Wellsfargo account and haven't had any problems at all. You can have that account linked to a BDO account and have money transferred back and forth.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have UnionBank though, because it was the only one that supports PayPal when I was still working at home in the Philippines.

I'll research more with regards to your bank suggestion. Thank you for the time. Salamat ng marami kabayan, I appreciate it!

Then you need to open a bank account na here in the USA and transfer that money here. A landlord will won't to see that you can afford the rent of their property if you have no credit history. They may require you to put down more up front to justify them lending to you. How much do you think rent is usually in CA?

Thanks for the advice, will do that. Can you advice a good bank where I can open an account?

I know rent is not cheap specially here in CA so I was thinking of just looking for roommates instead to share rent, I just think it's cheaper. Though not really sure of the cons of having roommates, specially with different cultures etc..

You don’t need a Tax identification number, that’s only for people who doesn’t have SSN and is about to file their tax return.

Sounds I'm good to go then, thanks for the response!

When you apply to live somewhere they will want to see that you can afford the rental or lease. Also they can and mostly like will run a background/credit check on you.

Let's say, currently I have money in my Philipine bank account, I also have earnings in PayPal, both which can cover my rent for a year or so. I haven't opened a bank account here in the US yet.

  5. Hey everyone!

I arrived here in the USA last May. Now I'm wanting to apply for a job, let's say I already have my Green Card, Drivers License, and Social Security Number.

Are there other legal things I need to do so I can apply for a job, maybe like getting a Tax Identification Number just like back in the Philippines? Do I need health insurances?

Also I'm planning to move out from the current place/home I'm staying at. Can I just inquire for a place to rent, will they look for any documents, etc?

Looking forward to your answers, thanks!

    terminal fee

Hey Boris! I wonder if this is also the "exit tax" you mentioned. As per my previous reply from an online post, it says

    Quote

The airport terminal fee or “Philippine passenger service charge” (DPSC) is an airport tax/exit fee

which we Filipino citizens are obliged to pay.

there is some sort of leaving or exit tax

Not sure if this is the same as the terminal fee.

    Read this from: https://www.detourista.com/guide/philippine-airports/

The airport terminal fee or “Philippine passenger service charge” (DPSC) is an airport tax/exit fee for passengers departing from airports in the Philippines. The terminal fee ranges from P50 to P220 per person for domestic flights or P600 to P850 per person for international flights. Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are exempted from paying the terminal fee.

Does anyone know if there are any taxes or fees outside of the ticket

Hey Mark, I paid Philippine travel tax for USD $30.70, thought I'd pay it too online so I'd save time from queuing.

Not sure on the terminal fee as I haven't confirmed yet, but there was a International Terminal Fee/IPSC of USD $10.40 included on mine.

Usually within 1 or 2 days max

UPDATE: Today I received an email that my booking is confirmed together with the actual E-ticket!

Can I confirm to you guys on the carry-on's? Is it okay to have one small luggage and one small backpack?

Because I'm reading on their website that only one piece is allowed, but when I went to CFO for the seminar,

the moderator said we can carry an extra small backpack or bag together with our carry-on baggage.

    TIA!

  11. Just got in touch through their Facebook page, asked me if it includes the ticket number, which it does, told me I can present upon check-in.

Just in case someone have more questions, no need to print the confirmation. If you have a smartphone or mobile device

you can use it to show the confirmation through airport security and check-in.

  12. Hey everyone!

So I just booked a ticket through Philippine Airlines. I paid through PayPal and received a booking confirmation email, I also received a email receipt for my payment from Paypal.

How many days before I receive my Itinerary Receipt? Is it different from the Itinerary Confirmation? My booked flight is on May.

    TIA!

  13. Late update just in case someone is still looking for answers and stumbles into this post.

I sent the packet back. Received the repacked packet after two days. It still has a tore on it, though smaller, and they doubled the plastic pouch containing it haha.

If you're passport is inside the same pouch as the envelope, cut a hole preferably at the bottom part away from the open part of the envelope the same size of your passport to get it out. then seal it with a tape.

If you have to attend Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS), Immigrant Data Summary IS STAPLED SO DON"T REMOVE IT! Take a picture of it instead and make sure that the details are legible, print a copy just in case. It says on the requirements to bring the original copy but I confirmed by calling them that we don't have to bring the original copy and was advised to just take a photo to be shown on the day of the PDOS.

    Good luck!

  14. Hey guys, late update. I sent the packet back the day after my last response here. Received the repacked packet after two days. It still has a tore on it, though smaller, and they doubled the plastic pouch containing it haha.

Now I'll just have to wait for another month for my Lola's B2 interview. My visa expires on June 20, planning to fly around April or May. Not sure if I can ask this here though but here it is... Is it adviseable to book a one way to SG then another one way direct from SG to California(port of entry)? My concern is that if we go to SG and stay there for a couple of days because we have a relative there that our exit might get questioned. Any thoughts guys? Thanks!

  15. Just in case someone is still looking for answers. After reading this thread today, I called their Manila number, the grumpy lady told me not to remove it from the packet and to just take a clear picture and that I could show it from my phone. I also emailed them so I have more proof 😎

And seriously.... they should clear this up... making us guys worry too much 🤣

    B. Requirements

No need to photocopy any registration document
No need to submit ID photos ???

    1. Original valid passport
    2. Original valid visa
    3. One (1) valid identification (ID) card with photograph (see list of valid IDs)
    4. Payment of PhP400.00 registration fee
    5. Attendance in the PDOS or Peer Counseling session
    6. Original of the following country-specific documents:
      • US-bound emigrants (except for K visa holders): Immigrant Data Summary.
      • Canada-bound emigrants: Confirmation of Permanent Residence
      • Italy-bound emigrants: Nulla Osta
      • Japan-bound emigrants: Certificate of Eligibility
      • Australia-bound emigrants: Visa Grant Notification Letter
      • New Zealand-bound emigrants: Letter of approval for Work to Residence visa

    .

  16. Hey guys, not sure if someone will still answer so I thought I'd ask my related query here.

I just received mine today, for immigrant visa.

I only opened the 2GO plastic. Inside is another plastic containing my passport and documents.

The plastic has no tear on it, and is completely sealed. The envelope has one of its corners visible showing the documents inside. Then on that part there is a tore on the "v" part, around an inch. Is this good?

Also, how can I get my passport out because it says I should not open it?

Off topic question: Is the PDOS required?
