I’m really worried about the extension letter too... my husband’s runs out in June, and he has a trip in August to visit his family back home. Hoping he can get an appointment to get a stamp before then..
Hello,
So we were able to find out that extension letter is not important if you don`t have to leave country. If you have a ROC - I751 pending you are still ok even the GC or the letter is expired.
We have called USCIS and we also used their chat and the agents told us that USCIS offices are closed for the public till at least June 4th. They told us that offices are closed for public but USCIS is still processing applications. So being said maybe they will approve us before the letter will expire. ( I don`t think so..:-))
We have canceled all the travel plans due to Covid-19. We don`t want to take the risk to expose us to it on the plane or during the visit. We don`t want to spend 14 days with the fewer or be quarantined for 2 weeks in the Europe and 2 weeks in the US when we would come back.
It is simply not worth it for us.
Everybody is in the same boat with this pandemic and we are waiting for the scientists to come up with the solution when we will not be afraid to live a normal life.
I hope that visajourney will not be mad at me but these information mentioned above I do have from other members here and we are also using ***removed*** . com
In our situation we are desperate for any info we can get sometimes with a process with USCIS. So again : I am not trying to promote different site here but simply show to the other members other option to cross reference the available info.
I hope this will help.
Stay safe and have a nice day!

Brunno, so do we have to call and schedule once there is 30 d left or go for an appointment within these 30 days? Also do we call the USCIS customer service number or the field office? Thanks in advance!
So our situation is that we filed for ROC in October 2018 and received extension letter for 18 months. Which will expire soon. We did not file for N400 yet. It is our goal but we wanted to get 10 y GC first.
We have called USCIS at: 800-375-5283. You have to press number options to get to the agent including your receipt number.
We have asked the agent if we will receive some decision soon. Agent did not have any answer. He did not know.
Then we asked: If we can expect another extension letter. He said no. He said we have to schedule the infopass to get the appointment to get stamp which will replace the letter and the GC. We asked if we can do it online and he said no. Only via the phone.
We wanted to schedule it but the agent said we cannot do it because our extension is still valid for another 2-3 months. He asked us to call 30 days before the letter will expire. Also he mentioned that till that day USCIS may make decision on our ROC and we will not have to schedule the appointment whatsoever.
During the call we had to verify:name, address, receipt number, A-number, phone number and email address.
The call was very clear and helpful.
I hope this will help...:-)

USCIS will not send you another extension letter.
Call USCIS Customer Service Phone Number [accurate as of July 2019]:
800-375-5283
Press 1, then 2, then 2, then 2
Tell them your extension letter is expiring and you want to make an infopass appointment to get an I-551 stamp.
According to USCIS, processing time (see here) for I-751 LIN applications is between 15-26 months, so you unfortunately you cannot file an inquiry for out of processing times.
There is also a very helpful google doc that community members created for LIN filers
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Buo_drIy4zaCFZUULdT_L9JrA6YZgrVtt7Cj6nUsvv0/edit#gid=0
According to the google doc it looks that a lot of LIN filers who have filed around your time have been approved. For this reason, I think a lot of people in this forum would recommend you file for N-400 since it is possible that your case is collecting dust on someone's desk and the N-400 might help expedite the process.
If your concern is having to take a baby to the interview, it is possible the ROC application will also require a separate interview so I don't think you are gaining much by waiting for ROC approval first. If I were in your place, I would definitely file for N-400, since similar timelines have been approved. That however is a personal decision and not based any concrete evidence or facts. Good luck and please update your timeline so you can help the community:
https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=314843
Update:
Hello,
So we called USCIS with question what to do next and the agent told us we have to call and schedule the infopass 30 days before the 18 months extension letter will expire. So roughly first week in May we will be calling USCIS again.......Till then: maybe, maybe our ROC will get approved and we will not have to go for stamp.
Thank you ALL with your feedback and help.
Have a nice day.

Hello All,
Maybe my questions should be posted somewhere else but we think you may be able to help us here.
We have a ROC pending since October 2018. With 18 months extension letter which will expire rather soon. Will USCIS send us a new letter? Or do we have to go for a stamp? We have tried to check online Chicago office but they don`t take appointments. How are we suppose to get stamp in our passport? Is there a phone line/number we should call to ask/schedule the appointment?
Also, we are eligible for N400 and it is our goal to became citizen. We were so exited that so many OCT.`18 filers got approved so we were waiting to file after the ROC will be done/approved. We have a small baby and we did not want to drag him to the city for the combo interview. But this is going on for past 4 months and our USCIS account is showing: fingerprint review completed. And old site is showing: Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken. All this since July `18...since then crickets. We dont even get txt or email messages like before anymore.
Oct `18 LIN filer, Bio done in July `19...extension letter for 18 months but will expire soon.
If we file for N400 with ROC pending, are we going to get new extension letter for another 18 months? The N 400 will take way more time than our 18 months current extension. And we do not want to be "out of status".
So we hope someone here can give us some directions. Someone here was in the same situation. Or if this is wrong forum please put the link with correct one.
Thank you all in advance.
Have a good day!

Hi,
I guess everybody who already got approved left the forum. My extension letter will expire soon and ROC still pending since OCT.`18. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do next? Should we call USCIS or still wait?
What about people who filled for N400 with ROC pending? Did they receive the extension letter again or did they have to go for a stamp? How does it work?
Thanks in advance.
Brunno..:-))

Hi All,
Well, Still nothing. Still crickets. More than 16 months since USCIS received our ROC.
Not sure what to do. Extension letter will expire soon. I think we have to request new one or go for a stamp. But how?
Any ideas what to do now?
Thanks

Good luck Brunno!!
Did you apply for the citizenship also or just the ROC??
I am filing my N400, have worked online for it for 3 days, and now as I signed back in all my files that I had uploaded were gone.......
Has anyone else had this problem???
Thank you Soley,
No, We did not apply for N400 yet. We were so excited that LIN #s are getting the approvals so fast ( since Oct.2019 ) that we thought we will get approved also.( this feeling we have for 4 months now). Also we have a baby and we don`t want to have combo interview and drag the baby with us. But if nothing will change till March,2020. We will apply for N400. It is our goal to became the citizen. We love the US and we like to live and stay here....:-))
This system is taking a big toll on us. The journey is way too long. But we do understand that one day this all will be behind us.
Have a nice day.

Hi. We are still waiting too. LIN#.....:-)) Its been 15 months plus some. We hope we will get some news soon. But,.......... but we have said it everyday for past 4 months now. So we don`t know when the ROC will be over.

Heads up everyone, here is a good news for Texas filers with receipt # SRC, today , I got an email stating a new card is being produced. Today makes it 14months and 25days since I filed my I-751. Now, the next thing is to file N-400. I wish all guys still waiting the very best. Just hang on and be patient, your time will surely come. My timeline I filed in October 2018, was told in December 2018 that my biometrics will be reused, I didn’t get my extension letter until March 2019, in October I got a letter to go and redo the biometrics, which I did on October 30th 2019, on December 13th,2019 my case was updated to show fingerprints were taken and today January 13th, 2020, new card is being produced. Thank you all for the support all through the long waiting, I pray each and everyone of you guys too have the course to smile. God did it... Hallelujah!!!
Congrats! You deserve it........:-))

Oh!! Okay, I thought you got your case approved already. Well, SRC is moving fast now, so let’s hope for the best. So far that I have seen on case tracker, 8 people had been approved. You don’t have RFE I supposed, because as you might have been aware, RFE slows the entire process down. Good luck
No we are still waiting.
No RFE. LIN filer - OCT`18 filer, Bio done July `19, no RFE, status is showing: Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken on old site, new site is showing fingerprint review completed. Nothing else. We are not getting the emails or txt messages for some time also. We were receiving notifications before .But not anymore.
I hope this process will be over soon.
Have a good day!

Hey Brunno,
We are still in the exact same spot as you as well. My husband got his original green card in the mail on Christmas Eve 3 years ago, so I was hoping to have the same holiday luck. Oh well.
I am a little worried about the social media thing, but if everything is on the up and up with your marriage, I wouldn’t be too worried. If they are checking phones and social media, they would have known by now that things aren’t really working with my marriage. We haven’t gotten any RFEs or calls for interviews though, so if we’ve been safe, you should too.
I hope so at least... I won’t be able to get a finalized divorce decree for at least another 4 months thanks to the process for divorce in Wisconsin. So if they send out an RFE anytime soon, we are kinda hosed.
My working (and probably incorrect) theory is that they possibly hold some cases back in order to give themselves leeway and more control over average processing times. But who knows.
Hello MorganandMichael,
When I mentioned about the social media I did not want to say our marriage is not legit. We are happy for many years. We have a baby and we have tons of proof...:-))
I just mentioned it because at this point we are just desperate and we are overthinking everything over and over. Reading here on VJ that some people are getting approved who applied months after us is making us think that something is not right. But I am sure it is. They are just busy.
The social media: We just heard it that USCIS is using it as a tool nowadays to check the couple. And it make sense. I would do it as well if I would need to make sure that the applicant is saying what he/she is saying. Paperwork, BIO, background check and more. Including FB. Who does not have the FB today?
Like I said with us everything is fine and if we will get interview notice we will be ok. But because we overthink it I just mentioned that I am not so active on FB and because of that the case maybe be delayed. Maybe I should be more active on FB...:-)))
Have a good day!

Consider filing the N-400 for citizenship as soon as you qualify.
We did, and still got the 10 year green card without any obvious delay, and are now scheduled for our citizenship interview.
Hi Suze1,
The only 2 reasons we did not file yet are:
1) people started to get approved so early so we had the feeling we will get too
2) since we have a small baby we did not want to have a combo Interview to drag him with us for it
We will wait till January/ February `20 and we will see then.
Hopefully we will see our 10y GC soon.
Thank you and have a good day!

Hi Guys,
So We are still Waiting. It is X-mas and we hoped the 10 y card will be here. But it is not. And that is ok....:-)
Oct.`18 - LIN filer,
Bio done July `19,
Update on old tracker "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken" last week,
New account or USCIS account still showing " BIO review completed in July `19 "
We have been checking some numbers around ours and almost everyone has been approved or RFE was issued. With us: nothing. We don`t even get the email or txt updates from USCIS anymore.
I cant think about what went wrong. If we should have filed differently. More documents or something else. But we have used the Lawyer to overlook our packet and he said everything was perfect.
Only one thing maybe : I am not big on Social media ( FB )..... my wife is.... and I have read that USCIS is checking social media very often to see if the couple is legit. But it may be a rumor. I have hear that they are also accessing the GPS locations for couples cell phones to see if cell phones are in the same location every night. But who knows?
We have nothing to worry about. We are happy and healthy!
Lets wait. Lets get ready for N 400.
So being said: We would like to wish to all of you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! And thank you for all the help here VJ...:-)))
Brunno...:-))
