My husband's interview was in sept 2018. His interview went well, but CO said she needs some time to process his case and to check his email. He was given the 221G form with AP ticked. Then the next day he got ds5535 questionnaire in his email. He was asked to

re do is medical at 6.5 months in AP. He did a new medical and the status is issued Alhumdulilah.

Congratulations! Did the status change consistently throughout the 7 months? I'm asking because I haven't seen any update on our case since 2 months (it's been a total of about 4 months since DS)

Yeah some people are waiting since long but I also know people who have been given visa after 2 months or before 2 months...let’s hope for good everyone because they have already written that every individual has its own vetting that decide the wait so hope for good.

do you know anyone, with DS5535, who recently had a shorter wait time - like around 2 months or less?

We had the same result after submitting the questionnaire we had 5 back to back then 3 the following month still in AP since October last update was today.

Got 3 updates last month - 1st update right after submitting the questionnaire, 2nd update a week later and then 3rd update another week later. Didn't see any update since  2 weeks.

Not sure if updates or number of updates correlates with any progress.

Hello, My wife had her interview on Jan 7th 2019. I had gone to the interview with her and after the interview was handed a white paper requesting more documents. On the white paper it said to submit via ceac website which I did that day. On visa journey and other places it says to submit via mail. My wife's current status shows refused and am confused on what  I should do.  If anybody knows please help!

No need to worry. If they told you to submit through CEAC then thats all you need to do. Whats your last update date? Refused is normal - it only means that they need to review your documents which they haven't done yet.

I don't know why I'm unable to send them emails before it wasn't like that and then what was the reason of the call which my husband received last week from embassy and then status changed from AP to ready and then again to AP same day.

Chances are you’ll have your visa issued soon. However there have been cases where people did need to get multiple medical exams and still were on administrative processing.

    Hello every,
Hope all of the delays you guys are facing get done asap and you guys unite with your loved ones, I had my interview on the 16th Jan 19 in islamabad, and everything went great in the interview, was not handed any kinds of paper, the CO said to me that my visa was approved and i shall get my passport within 1-2 weeks and everything looks great. Upon reading forums here , i have stumbled upon quite a few cases where they delay cases like that for no reason at all, my case has been in ap since the day of the interview and has been updated once but still in AP?
do any of you guys have an idea why is that ? and do they actually delay cases for no reason at all ? i really want to be in the US for our first baby girls birth, it is expected to be born end of march. i really hope i can make it and im getting really anxious by the day, can any body please explain why is my case in AP when she clearly said approved and even told me the timeline.

    Thank you somuch in advance

That is normal. Usually, the status will be AP till it gets issued. Its not even been a week so just wait for another 1-2 weeks before getting worried.

I have two news for you. Good and Bad.

Good news....from Sep 15 2018 to Jan 15 2019 ..they were looking your marriage / spouse traveling history etc. which was little complicated. But eventually ready to give you visa around Jan 15, 2019.

Bad news...........Some how you stuck in AP mid Jan for any one of the reason I already mentioned in this forum. You will get visa in Jan 2020. Until then go back to your routine life.

Let’s hope for the best and prepare for the worse. Back in 2013 I went through AP for almost 6 months (even when there was no such form). Not sure why they would do the checks again especially since I’ve lived there in the US

    Hi,

AP ( due to DS-5535)  could take 12 to 24 months or longer. No one can expedite it. You just need to make sure if the embassy received your DS-5535 and there is only two ways you can verified it. 1. If your case updated right after sending them e-mail  with DS-5535 info. 2. If embassy replied you that they got it. Either one is fine.

My advice is go back  to your routine life and just keep praying.

    Good luck

Thanks, case updated the same day as I sent my responses.

    Did you get the questionnaire?

    Yes.

When did you send in the ds5535?

We are in AP for 3 months since submitting the ds5535.  We have had about 9 updates on CEAC.   Timeline seems to be about a year for many but we are praying hard that is not the case for us as we have already been waiting for 2 years.

We received the questionnaire email 15th of this month. Sent our responses yesterday (16th jan). Now I believe they'll ask for a 2nd medical when there is any progress. Is the medical valid for 6 months for everyone?

  9. Hi,

Its been more than 60 days since I submitted additional required documents. After that my lawyer sent an inquiry (3 weeks ago) to the embassy but still have not received a response.

When should I expect them to write back to us?

Background: Case went to AP after interview. Then 2 weeks after submitting additional docs it changed to ready. Then the last update date would change once each week (changed twice for one particular week). Then its been stuck on 23rd Nov.

there is no red flags ,  my wife is 21 and i am 28 .. she is Christian I am Muslim , she visited once last year when we get married .

what i so desperately need is a Joint Sponsor , rest is easy ..

Is she of Pakistan origin? If not then that may be a red flag. I am in similar situation. Its been more than 60 days since we submitted additional documents they asked for. You may send a personal msg to me to discuss further

Is yours also an arranged marriage?  I have heard of many couples from Pakistan that are stuck in AP for a long time due to the country (high fraud) and arranged marriages.  It is a double whammy there.  I hope all works out well.  Both the high fraud country and the arranged marriages cause a very long manual background check.

No, mine is not an arranged marriage.

  12. Hi,

I had my interview on 10th September 2018 at Islamabad consulate and at the end of the interview CO kept my passport and I was given 221(g) sheet asking to submit:

    1. Wedding photos and pictures of our time together
    2. Emails, chats
    3. Copies of my wife's passport pages showing entry and exit stamps

We submitted everything asked on CEAC only(as I was told) on 4th October. It has been more than a week but I don't see any change in the last update date.

    Questions:

    • Is it normal for no change in last update date after submitting the documents online?
    • How long should I wait before making an inquiry?
    • How long do they normally take to process such information?
    • Anyone else who submitted documents only at CEAC and did not sent by mail?

Here is some background information. We have been married for almost 3 years now (got married in the US). 1st year we lived apart while I got back to Pakistan. My wife moved to Pakistan almost 2 years ago and has been living here since then (besides going back home a couple of times). We had our Nikah after 6 months of my wife moving to Pakistan (My family had not met her before this as we were living in a different city). Shortly after that, we moved to my parents home as I switched jobs. We had been living with my family for almost a year now.
