  1. Hello, I came to see how things were progressing on your end with the NVC. I noticed that you heard back them a little over a week ago. With the I-864, if your wife's total income was lower than required, your mother-in-law would need to be the co-sponsor. When my brother petitioned for his wife and son (also from Nigeria), my mom and dad were co-sponsors even though my brother lives in the same household.

We finally received my husband's passport which I sent to him. We were able to gather the necessary things and got everything submitted. I called the NVC yesterday morning to double check that they received our stuff (the status on the ceac site looked as if we hadn't), and this morning we got the email about being "Documentarily Qualified."

Hopefully, there will be no more delays in the process for you and your wife! Godspeed!

Thank you! I've texted him your number. His name is Daniel. I know Ikeja.. We generally stay at the Presken when I'm there. He's in Ojokoro.

My name is Camille and I'm in Jackson, Mississippi. Fort Lauderdale sounds like a fun place. I just passed this information to my husband to get the vaccinations done before he goes for the Medical Examination. That is helpful info and will save us time and money. He is also in Lagos.  I called 603-334-0700.. They open at 9am, and it's best to call in the mornings. Your wife may have to dial multiple times, but keep calling and press "1" for English. There's a method to calling. lol I waited an hour and 20 minutes before speaking to a person. I got the following from one of the topics in a forum:

      keep calling, when you hear

"thank you for calling the NVC, because to the high number of calls..." HANG UP

      call back

When you hear  "please be advised..." you should wait to speak to operator (Again a waited 1.5 hour before speaking with operator)

Make sure she has the LGS# on hand. I've memorized ours I've typed it so much. :)

      Godspeed!

Yes, we thank God for everything! I do not live with my parents and my income for the last 3 years was sufficient. I also completed the I-864ez since my husband is the only beneficiary. I would definitely encourage you or your wife to call the NVC to confirm receipt of those additional documents. I called Tuesday to confirm that they were in receipt of all our documents and Wednesday we were DQ'd. My brother once told me that when you call there seems to be movement on your case when you do. It could totally be a coincidence, but I figured it wouldn't hurt and it didn't. :)

  4. Good day, have you heard anything from the NVC?

Sounds good! The DS-260 is pretty straightforward. I completed for my husband. Many of the questions are similar to that of the I-130 form. Godspeed, I'll keep you updated. :)

Sorry for the delay in response. I haven't been on here much as we're at a waiting point again. We were able to pay both the IV and AOS fee on the same day, they just had to be paid separately. When I filed my tax return for 2018, I filed jointly with my husband. In order for me to include him on the tax return, he needed a Tax ID Number (it's like a Social Security Number but for people who are not eligible for one). In order to get a Tax ID Number, the IRS needed to see his original passport to prove identity and residency in Nigeria. We sent it in. They actually have processed, so we should be receiving his passport soon I'm hoping. I've been told that he will need his passport to get the police certificate, so those are the only other documents we haven't collected to submit.

Awesome! We received ours on June 11. Fees are paid, and able to complete AoS and application, but waiting for IRS to send husband's passport back before we can upload our civil documents. So we are at a standstill.

  7. Good Friday Afternoon,

I'm an I-130 petitioner, filing on behalf of my husband in Nigeria. Since you've already completed the NVC documents, I thought I'd ask you about how you all obtained a Police Certificate as I see your country listed as Nigeria as well. I received our NOA2 Approval last Saturday and we are trying to gather our documents while we wait on the next step in processing. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! :)

I'll check with him to see if he has it. Thank you, again!

Thank you so much for the information! This is very helpful. I will forward this information to my husband so that he can work on getting that. Many blessings to you all as you near the end of this journey!!
