  1. Hello, My mother entered the US yesterday and I was wondering what I should do to get her SSN and the physical GC. Category is IR5 In the ds 260's social security number information, I entered: Have you ever applied for a Social Security number? NO Do you want the Social Security Administration to issue a Social Security number and a card? YES Do you authorize disclosure of information from this form to the Department of Homeland Security, the Social Security Administration, and such other U.S. Government agencies as may be required for the purposes of assigning you a social security number (SSN) and issuing you a Social Security card and do you authorize the Social Security Administration to share your SSN with the Department of Homeland Security? YES From my understanding, after she enters US, it automatically triggers the creation of SSN card and it should come to my mail correct? Also, I paid the $220 uscis fee for processing her GC before she came to USA. Is it the same case as SSN? Also, is there any way I can track these? Thanks
  2. I am a US Citizen and my mother's interview has finally been scheduled in the US embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal for September. In the interview letter, there is a link saying it should be reviewed for interview preparation which then directs me to https://www.ustraveldocs.com/np/. The first step states "Step 1: Create a profile and upload all relevant documents in CEAC". This is a bit confusing to me. Do I really need to create a profile in there and upload documents again? I have already done this in USCIS and at NVC. So what is the purpose of this?
  3. Hello, I am the primary sponsor petitioning for my mother and the case is in NVC at the moment. I am also adding my wife as a household member and she is filling up I864A. One of the required document is proof of domicile. What would qualify as the document? Would the latest paystub from her work showing the address be enough?
  4. I made a mistake on the income portion 24.a - 24.c for a household member on the I864A. It was submitted and it says N/A at the moment with "you cannot upload documentation at the moment". What should I do? Will it let me upload or edit document later? It said it would take a few hours to get it approved and I can upload other civil documents.
  5. on 24.a to 24.c, should I list MY total income or our joint total income?
  6. Hello, I am a sponsor, and in form I-864, 24.a, 24b, 24c, I need to enter the 3 recent tax years and total income. Considering my wife is also going to be a household member and will be filling up I864A as additional sponsor, should I enter only my income in the total income fields in 24.a, 24.b and 24c? Or should I enter our total household income? Also we have filed as married-joint for all three past years. Where would I find the appropriate amount in the 1040 or IRS return transcript?
  7. I am filling up I864 as a sponsor. I am at 6.a and it says Sponsor's signature. I am filling up the form in acrobat reader. Should I actually print out the page, sign it with a pen and then scan and submit? Or can I just type my name in where it says Signature?
  8. Yep. I will include previous years' return transcript as well. Just not sure if I can re-upload to CEAC once it becomes available through IRS.
  9. Thank you. I filed more than a week ago through CPA, wonder why its taking so long to show up.
  10. In 23.a of form I-864, it asks "Have you filed a federal income tax return for each of the three most recent tax years?" and in the Note it says "You MUST attach a photocopy or transcript of your Federal income tax return for only the most recent tax year." I have two questions. 1) I have filed tax returns for all 3 past years including 2022 but I don't see the transcript available in the irs website yet. It says it may take 3-4 weeks to get it and I dont want to wait that long. Would it be okay to just submit tax returns for 2019, 2020 and 2021? Or should I submit form 1040 for 2022? Or am I allowed to later upload 2022 tax transcript when it becomes available? 2) When I login to IRS website, it gives me 4 options to download transcripts which are Return transcript, Record of account transcript, Account transcript and Wage and income transcript. Which is the one that they want me to upload? Or is it 1040? Thanks
  11. My mom's I130 was approved and now I am filling up Affidavit of support for NVC. I would like to add my wife too. There are two options, "Add joint sponsor" or "Add household member". Which one would she fall under?
  12. Quick update. I submitted all RFE documents online and my case was approved in the next two days. Its quicker.
  13. RFE says return requested information and all supporing documents on this page to... address. But wouldn't doing it electronically be much safer/faster? Also there is an option for it for that reason on the USCIS portal I guess.
  14. Hello, I had applied for my mother's I130 but got an RFE due to by birth registration being late. Now that I have gathered all my documents, would it be better to physically mail the documents though USPS priority or through the USCIS portal? If I login, under my case it says "Respond with evidence" and it lets you upload the documents. I had originally submitted all my documents using the portal. Any suggestions? Or should I do both?
  15. Thanks. I will try to arrange the test. Apart from the DNA route, can I provide any other documentations to satisfy USCIS?
  16. "Test results must be mailed by the laboratory directly to our office. USCIS will not accord any weight to DNA results submitted by anyone other than an AABB-accredited laboratory." I dont think they accept any other lab DNA tests other than AABB which doesnt exist in Nepal. Both has to be AABB.
  17. How do I start the process? I mean how do I tell USCIS to send the kit to the embassy?
  18. Hello, I am a naturalized US citizen and I filed I130 for my mother. I today received status update saying "LATE REGISTERED OR UNREGISTERED BIRTH CERTIFICATE". It further states that the birth certificate is not sufficient because it was registered about 15 years after my actual birth date. I am from Nepal and I think we registered my birth certificate late because we actually never required it and the original hospital certificate cant be found anymore. It says I need to provide secondary documents showing that my mother and I are related and should provide following documents Medical records or health records; Church records or religious documents; Early school records; Insurance records; Employment records; Financial records (tax returns); Census or tribal records; Government records or identification documents. Any evidence submitted should include: The name of the child and the child’s parent(s); Dates (e.g. dates of the child’s birth, religious event, school attendance, hospital admittance, etc.); Stamp, seal, signature of issuing official, authorized personnel, etc. I have been looking but we just cant find any document that has my mother's name, my name and the birth date all together. The other option they mention is affidavits from people stating the relationship and that the birth is legit but this carries less weight it says. Finally, other option they mention is DNA test to show we are parent/child. But I dont know how its possible since my mother is in Nepal and I am in USA. "The test must be performed by a laboratory accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks" and they are mostly located in USA. Any suggestion is helpful. I was so excited since the timeline was reaching near and this news is really depressing.
  19. Filed I130 for both of my parents in February 2022. Dad passed away a few days ago. The case status for both parents say "Case actively being reviewed by USCIS". I was thinking I wouldn't need to notify USCIS since I just wouldn't send documents or whatever is the next step and automatically cancel the application. But I also think I should inform them since my mom's case is still pending. What is the best course of action. And also if I need to cancel my father's application, how would I go about doing this?
  20. My mother has a tourist visa that expires on 2023 January. I have also filed for her green card through i130 but its slow and status says "Currently actively reviewing". Is it pssible to bring my mother to USA while her I130 is pending? Would it be a problem at the port of entry? I am worried they will ask about her intention. She has traveled before to USA 2018 and has not overstayed during her visit.
