  1. Jasmin,

You have to include the letters in the barcode, and if your barcode's the same size as the example, go with it :)

Different editing programs make for different sized barcodes. I made mine in MS Paint and with the first barcode I was resizing from dusk till dawn. The converting from inches to cm didn't help either.

    I'm such a spaz ;)

    Best of luck!

When I create the barcode, do I put "FRA" for Frankfurt in there as well or just the numbers starting with 2007?

Also, why do I have to resize the code after pasting it onto the coversheet? It looks the same size as the one that's on there as an example. When I resize it (after converting inches to cm) it's much smaller.

  2. if you are applying for K3 or Cr-1 you already need to use your married name in your passport. your wife needs to apply for a new passport using her married name.

Are you sure this is absolutely correct? We are applying for CR1 and do not intend to change the (maiden) name in my passport for the purposes of the CR1 application because the process takes too long in my home country. Please could you let me know where you obtained this information from because it is quite worrying. Thanks.

KTG, I emailed my consulate some time ago asking the same thing and they told me that as long as my passport is valid for 8 months at the time of visa issuing it is no problem whatsoever it's in my maiden name. Maybe it differs from country to country though; I'd contact your embassy/consulate to be sure.

  3. I have the distinct feeling we got out of there JUST in time with the plaster already coming down behind us or something. Since then I've seen nothing but people waiting for friggin' ever ... like you!

    It's really not fair

But, at least your case is complete! Congrats on that!

And thanks! We are SO excited and nervous, and more excited and more nervous. Ha! The worries don't stop until I have stamped passport, and then I'll most likely come up with something else ;)

Thanks for the encouragement Erica! It seemed like we were running a race for the longest time and somehow our case took a very WRONG turn. Congratulations on your interview!!
  4. I'd have your husband call the NVC: (603) 334-0700, and follow the instructions.

You can find out your case number by typing in your CIS receipt number and it will then tell you your NVC case number. He can also talk to an operator and have them check if the DS-3032 was actually sent out and whether it was sent to the right (yours and his) addresses.

    Good luck!

  5. LadyJane, a quick question, how come you have mailed the AOS bill and email the choice of agent even before the forms have been generated! I have the same timeline as you by the way. Thanks!

I'm rather curious about that myself. If you actually sent them before the NVC generated them it's very possible they will sent them back to you as they will have no record of 'm.

I hope everything will be okay.

  6. From what I've read the checklist you're talking about (that people get and have to send back to the embassy/consulate) is packet 3, and is for the K visa. Most of the stuff on that list is what the CR/IR's already send to the NVC. But, I could be wrong :)

You're getting closer to the end yourself, just a couple of weeks more!

    :star:

Ahhh, that's interesting. So once you get the case completed and forwarded, the embassy sends medical info AND an interview date. I have to check with how the Australian embassy works. I recall them sending information on getting a medical and other items such as the marriage certificate, police certificate, etc. After that the foreign spouse would contact them and let them know they are ready for an interview.

    Thanks for the info Erica!

    Good luck! You're almost there!

    -Alex

  7. Ours was indeed forwarded within a week of the 'case complete' message, but seeing how the NVC is taking so much longer to do everything at the moment ...

Keeping my fingers crossed twill be today or tomorrow

Tomorrow makes 2 weeks since our case was completed. The message has not changed, still says case completed. I even spoke to an operator Friday and she says it will be sent "soon", unable or unwilling to give me a date or estimate.

Is this normal? Most people's timelines that I have read say that their case was forwarded with one week.

  8. Thank you all for your replies. In case I am opting for the email alternative, who should send the email me or the beneficiary? Thanks again

It's the foreign benificiary who appoints the agent, so in this case your wife should email them appointing you. You will get a copy of the original DS-3032 they send to her in the mail though.

I would like to say that even though emailing worked real fast for us, the NVC is now so backed up that an email back from them accepting the choice of agent can take up to 10 days ... and some people have had to email them several times. I'm not sure you can save much time anymore this way :(

  9. Hey Alex :)

The address/phonenumber of the doctor (and the X-ray clinic) + office hours were in the letter, along with some medical forms and instructions (vaccinations/what to fill in). There was even a map on how to walk from the x-ray clinic to the doctor. Very thorough :)

I called the doctor's office, they asked for my visa-interview date and then scheduled me in a week prior. All in about 30 seconds :)

  10. The best thread on all things NVC, how the process works, how to save time, what to do and where to go:

    Best of luck! :)

:) Hello! I am just new here too but I learned a lot from the experts here in the forum. DS3032 is being signed by the beneficiary/ applicant. NVC is taking long in replying requests via email, lately its been taking them at least 7-14 days to reply. In my case, I have sent them an email a week ago, this was just my trial email and I still have not gotten any reply from them. At this time, I am going for mailing it Express Mail, just like in JSC. I decided not to go to emailing NVC for the DS3032. It's still your choice. Read more posts and you get a feel from other VJers who sent an email.

Good luck! You'll get all the help on here.... just read more, you'll get all the answers and can decide what's best for your case.

  11. I didn't see this yesterday, sorry Diana :)

The Dutch consulate arranges the interviews (Standard Processing) which is different than Colombia so I can't be of much help to you ... but just in case someone else wants to know:

We waited a couple of days for everything to be sent to the Netherlands ... which was the last day the automated message changed. On the 26th it said: the NVC is done processing and has forwarded your case to Amsterdam. We never talked to an operator.

My husband emailed the Dutch consulate (to show his commitment to them :)) the next monday and they sent him the date a day later, and then two days later I got the Official Appointment Letter with the interview date and info on the medical in the mail.

Less than two weeks to go ...

I have a question for Erica since she's all done with them. Once the automated message said that your case was completed at the NVC, did your husband call the NVC to find out when the interview was? Or did he call the Department of State? Did he talk to a live person or was it automated as well? I'm still confused about how they let you know when the interview date is.

    Thanks Erica!

    Diana

  12. Btw, is it just me, or does anyone else feel that the longer you've waited the more frustarting it becomes :( ? We've been waiting for almost a year now (we tried filing a DFC in August 2006 and then again in February 2007 but both times without luck for various reasons). I've been mostly fine with it untill say late April 2007. Now I just feel frustrated almost each day about this. I only get some comfort when I hear that NVC has generated something, sent something, recieved something or accepted something, so that our case is at least going foreward. I'm just wondering :( ...

    Not just you, Stabu :)

  13. Diana, I'm happy you at least have it now! Still find the whole situation so odd.

I've been thinking that the only thing different in our situation was the fact that we didn't send in the I-864 until after the generation of the DS-230 letter. It just worked out that way.

Maybe that's why we did get an updated message before(, cos it certainly never changed from 'missing info' to 'hey, we got your DS-230, working on it now!')

I don't know, grasping at straws to find something to work with here

On the plus side, the automated message will change as soon as they're done with it, so you won't have to wait till a tuesday update :)
