  1. Hi,

I've made copies of my 1st GC that has the right date on it, and also a copy of the recent approval letter which states the 8/26/2007 admission date as well. I don't think I have any further evidence (though I'll search some more), but I'm hoping that with both of those they'll see the error of their ways ;)

    Hi Erica,

I just saw the I-90 and it says "Include any documents that support your claim with your application". So I guess you should also include a copy of a document that shows/prove the data on the GC is incorrect.

"Your Permanent Resident Card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS administrative error.

In both of these instances, you must prepare a Form I-90. On the first page of the application, under Part 2, Application type, Number 2, Reason for Application, check box "b" which reads: "My authorized card was never received," or box "d" which reads "My card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS administrative error." Include any documents that support your claim with your application.

For those applicants who check box "b," you must send a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, that you received for your previously filed Form I-485, Form I-751, or Form I-90.

For those applicants who check box "d," you must submit the original Form I-551 card containing the incorrect information that supports the requested correction."

  2. I would not have thought about the signature confirmation and I'll include a short cover letter as well. Thanks, Meriem and nycbra :)

    Visajourney'ers are fabulous. Seriously.

And make sure when you send the I-90 and incorrect GC, you get signature confirmation of the delivery. After AOS we had to send my husband's back due to a spelling error. USCIS claimed they never received it, but I had the confirmation that they did.

  3. Yesterday I received my new 10-year green card and there was much rejoicing. Until I noticed that next to 'resident since' it says 06/01/09, instead of 08/26/07. June 1st was the date of our I-751 receipt and obviously someone was not paying much attention to what they were doing.

I was told that I-90 is the way to go with this, and that if this is a USCIS mistake I won't have to pay the $290. But the form says to include a check/money order. Soooo, what do I do? Put in a check and hope that they won't cash it, OR not include a check and run the risk of them sending it back because it doesn't have the required fee?

I did a search, but couldn't find anything about my fee dilemma. If someone has experience with this, I would love to hear how they solved it. Thanks!

  4. John,

our approval notice came from our field office (Detroit) and I've seen other people receive theirs from their local FO as well. I think I read that the service center sends the application to the field office and it's up to them to approve/schedule an interview. However, I've been trying to find where I read that, and I can't.

Hopefully someone can confirm, and ease your mind a bit.

Thanks Darcy. My wife is really upset over finding out her case has been transferred to NO. She thinks something is wrong with the case. I hope not. All we can do is wait and start getting everything together for a probable interview. I am not aware of a Field Office approving cases without an interview.

I called the Representative's office back. I told her that my wife will be leaving the country in a few weeks for a month and my step-daughter is in Portland at the University. She said to wait until she hears back from NO. She has sent them an e-mail. She is fast.

I hope if there is an interview and my wife is out of the country, that it can be scheduled before she leaves or after she returns. I still don't know about my step-daughter. If she would have to come home to be at the interview or have hers in Portland.

I think I am getting a little upset myself. Anyone know anything about a case transferred to a Field Office? Why? Interviews with K-1 and K-2 in different locations?

    Thanks for any help.

  5.   i think...

I received a "card production ordered" email today from good ol' CRIS!

Is it really possible, is this really an approval coming my way???

We haven't received ANYTHING in the mail yet. My husband thought maybe someone was playing a sick joke on me, but it's a real USCIS email and case status is updated too.

I really hope this is for real

It seems like you have reason to celebrate :) Congrats!

  6. Thanks, ELW, for adding my data! I had to change it though, as my biometrics date was one of the ones rescheduled :)

We went today, and now we're ready to wait some more!

  9. Alan,

I was really hoping to find some good news. I'd love to express my feelings on the subject but I'm pretty sure there aren't enough #####'s in the world to bleep everything out.

But, enjoy Scotland! There's nothing like whisky and lochs to take yer mind off of things, laddie :)

Thanks for that - thanks very much it - helps a lot to know my VJ pals understand me...

A lot of soldiers cant speak about war when they get back because 'anyone who wasn't there would not understand' and its the same with this visa thing - only VJers know the worry and frustration and pure fear - my friends just say 'no big deal it will be ok' and 'so what if you cant get a visa until spring'

The ironic part is that the spousal immigration legislation is meant to reunite couples - but the NVC are saying that unless we split up, then they cant progress the visa.

They actually want a USC to split from their spouse - half the problems in the western world are because of family breakup and here is the government insisting on it.

If we agree to breakup - only then will they issue a visa to reunite us !!

Is it me or has the world gone mad ?

Anyway enough ranting/venting/clawing at a problem that is out of our hands... I agree that the 15 working days message is probably the standard stuff which is better than the 4 to 6 weeks they trot out usually

So I will not think about that and hope that a supervisor might actually get our official reply with documents and barcode plus my fax and email... I will keep calling the auto line twice a day but that voice is popping my skull !

ok fingers crossed - we are off to north west Scotland in a severe rain storm and lashing gales on Saturday to cheer ourselves up - so radio silence until Tuesday - so thats the reason for silence - not that i am swinging on a rope in the woods !

thanks again VJ friends .... more next week

    alan

  10. A couple of days (well, hopefully, it could be weeks) after 'case complete' the message will say that the NVC has forwarded your paperwork to the consulate/embassy. Any further information you'll need will come from Montreal as far as I know.

Congrats, your interview is one step closer :)

    Hi,

We just called the NVC and got through to their automated response system. It said that our case was complete on August 9th. Does this mean they now send our case to the counselor in Montreal or do we still have to wait for an information packet? Any help of this timeline is much appreciated

    .

    Thanks

  11. 1. K-1's are not long enough at the NVC to be entered into the automatic system so you'll have to talk to an operator to find out how and what.

    2. I don't know about Morocco but we've used Paypal to send eachother money. You basically only need an email adress for that. Well, and some other things, but you can check it out here: www.paypal.com

    Good luck :)

Ok I have questions..............First, I received the letter from NVC on August 9th (their letter and envelope dated August 6), the case number for USCIS is on there as well as case number for NVC. But when calling the NVC telephone number they have no knowledge of either case number. I either entered it wrong or it has not been received. What's up with that?

Second question: I need to send my SO money for his interview and medical exam. Can I send money order through post office to him (bad idea?????) or send it Western Union or Moneygram? I want him to get it fast when he needs it and not have any problems with it. Post office takes so long in getting letter to Tangier Morocco. So give me some ideas from anyone dealing with Morocco.

Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep thinking of things I need to know. Bear with me now.

  12. I'm pretty sure our message said something like: 'the NVC has generated an instruction (or information) packet' ... which was their way of saying they'd generated the letter telling us where to download the DS-230.

So, it was a different message than the 'received' one. Then again, it seems they have been changing some things in the last month or so ... my information might already be outdated!

When I heard the magic words "NVC has received the immigrant visa fee bill on ... and will send further instructions within the next few weeks..." I took this as indication that the cover letter for the DS-230 package had been printed and was being sent soon. I then called an operator and she said that the package would be mailed "next week", but I mailed in the DS-230 form (following James's shortcuts) the very same day regardless. They accepted this and acknowledged receipt within two or three days. So in my case at least it worked fine. I see no reason why it shouldn't work for you as well.

    Good luck.

    --hh

Thanks for the feedback. I was of the same mindset. Even though the DS-230 information packet was not generated yet, I do believe it will be generated very soon (like next week). It's been in the system all week so I think it's plenty of time for the NVC to generate something.

What I might do is just send the DS-230 via regular mail. The few extra days it will take to get there might be enough time for the official packet generation to occur. Oh well, at least I know this is the last piece to the NVC puzzle.

  13. The interview was one question: our wedding date. Even in my state of nervous hysterics I could easily manage that :) I swore I filled everything in truthfully and that was that.

    Such nice, friendly people!

Then, I was waiting outside to get my phone and mp3 player back and all of a sudden there was a hustle and bustle and I had to come back in! Gah! Escorted by a security officer, everyone looking at me like I was being deported on the spot. I was sure they'd take back my approval (and WHY?) but as it turned out they had forgotten to take my fingerprints. Oh my ... And then the biometrics box (where you put your finger on) didn't work so we had to change windows. I said: "This is turning out to be quite the experience" which made them laugh.

After that basically everyone was smiling at me and saying how lucky it was I was still there when they found out about the prints. Too funny.

We'll be booking flights tonight :)

YAAAAY! How did the interview go? Now you're home free :)
