Hi Everyone.  My Husbands Green Card was stolen.  We are filing out the I-90 Form and i have a stupid question regarded part 3 (see attached image) .  Maybe i'm over thinking bc i don't want to put the incorrect answer.  Plus i'm nervous about making any errors.  We were living in canada when we applied.  I'm not sure where the location is of where we applied for an immigrant visa? and location where the visa was issued?

    Any help would be appreciated

gosh .. it's not correct to advise. Please read the forums and stay here for a while and do some more reading before you give advice.  we were a victim of wrong advise and that too by people of authority. staying quite and learning is better than wrong advice

your best bet is cr1. don't do k1 for too many reason (I dont even want to open the can of worms - we have had toooooooo many discussion in VJ)

@TM92 gave you the best advise about using your B1/B2

That is why I said "IMHO". It is just an opinion.

  3. IMHO, your best option is either K-1 or CR-1. You would need to have a legitimate paper trail of supporting documents for that. Receipts from trips such as hotel folio's of your stay, airline tickets if any, passport stamps if you both took a trip abroad, cruise receipts. Photos with family and friends, monetary transactions etc are helpful. Non-concrete evidence such as letters from family/friends etc is no evidence at all.

B-1 would show immigrant intent and is probably not a viable option.

  4. Some employers, usually colleges/universities/nonprofits might use "single" in W-4 form. It is for withholding only. By all means, please file taxes together as married (joint or separate) as that is the right way for you to file taxes. Do NOT file them as single as you might have to amend them later. This is not just to comply with USCIS, but also IRS.

I have a friend that has been waiting for over 3 months ...

Yeah it might take them a while. AOS is generally taking about 16-17 months for high volume offices. You might hear something in 2-3 months regarding the interview. In the meantime, call them and ask specifically to transfer your file to the RI office. When you do that, you will get a confirmation letter stating the same.

Here's what the Boston office is up to

  6. It is now generally taking 5-6 months in many cases. Seems like they are backlogged. If you have a job offer, use that to expedite your EAD card. It would be done over the phone as they no longer do EAD expedites via infopass. If you have a family emergency trip coming, that can be used as a valid reason to expedite using supporting documents.

    Hi all

I am located in Florida and I currently work full time at a company that has told me if I take any more unapproved absences I will move onto the next stage of performance management.

Long story short I do not have any more leave left and it is there policy that you cannot take unpaid leave other wise I will receive a written warning.

I got my appointment letter for my adjustment of status which is the end of October and I am worried I will get a verbal warning or worse yet they will try and fire me because of the absence.

Can they do this? Are there any laws in place that won't allow them to fire me??

Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

Perhaps ask for unpaid time off? Maybe offer to use your lunch breaks to make up for the interview time? Or maybe offer to stay late for a couple of hours to make up time. Talk to your boss. You might be surprise at how understanding some bosses can be. But give them a heads up that you'll be gone for some hours. Good Luck~!
