I noticed you were touched on 2/17. That seems very strange unless you called and made an inquiry. I wonder what is going on. It is not normal that a January petition should be touched at this point. But then again... it is hard to identify what is "normal" at USCIS.

Don't worry about the kids because there were kids from babies to teens at the embassy when we were there...

Also as far as the DS-156...the bank will have what you need and it will take all of 10 minutes to fill out so don't bother to stress about that.

(just be sure to fill out an extra copy for the embassy while you're there...1 for the bank and 1 for the embassy)

As I gather from your posts, and the help that you have given others (including Yenifer and I) here at Colombia Club, you are very well prepared and I know that you will have no problem...

I am not sure if it is a good idea to take the kids or not. On one hand I think they will have a very hard time denying us if I am standing there with the baby in my arms. On the other hand, if it turns out to be one of those days and the kids are a pain it could increase the stress level considerably.

Creo que es normal. La embajada necesita un poco tiempo (quizas 2 o 3 dias) poner la informacion en la computadora. Tambien pienso que la embajada estuvo cerrada ayer.

There were a number of December filers touched yesterday...all in the December 4th, 5th, 6th range. We sent ours on the 5th.

Then one was approved and they filed on the 14th or something....weird...I don't get how they work..lol

I could accept them working within a 30 day window and not get too upset if they processed some petitions out of order. But this business of processing December petitions when there are people without RFE's who filed well over 6 months ago still waiting is just heart breaking.

I do not begrude anyone their approval but what they are doing now to their so called "customers" is just horrendous.

Bella and the kids have completed their medicals complete with some new "fresh" and expensive vaccinations. Now we are on the home stretch. Our interview is February 29th and I will go to Bogota on the 26th.

I have a few questions for those who have completed the process recently.

We might not have any child care available on the day of the interview. Were there any small children at the embassy when you were there? The kids are 2 and 9.

As I recall the DS-156's (1 for each) must be completed in Spanish and printed back to back on 1 sheet of paper to take to the bank to pay the visa fee. Is this correct? If so I have a problem. I can find a current version in spanish that expires in 2010. It must be filled out online but much to my surprise it prints out with the form in english. I have a DS156 pdf I could use but it expired in 2004. Is the embassy sending the 2004 version in spanish in package 4? If not, does anyone have a current DS-156 in spanish?

Maybe it's a computer glitch?

It could be but it is also possible they have started working on your petition already. In the old days (mid 2007) they were horribly slow but for the most part processed petitions in the order in which they were received. Now they are a little faster but seem to jump from month to month making it difficult for anyone to predict what petition will be approved next. There have been some December approvals already so it could be you will be one of the lucky ones.

Not as impatient as I am perplexed...does a lot of touches mean a possible RFE maybe? I guess if this process was a little more transparent, the waiting would be a little easier...

I also agree, May filers still waiting is unacceptable...I firmly believe that everyone should be processed in the order in which they were received...I'm praying for all of you!

RFE's also come at the end of the process so a lot of touches to a recently submitted petition does not mean an RFE is being issued.

Unless there is a major mistake such as sending the petition to the wrong center or forgetting to include the check a NOA1 is issued and the petition is simply put into a case where it remains undisturbed until an officer looks at it. This normally happens months later although there are occasionally petitions that are processed quite rapidly. Once the officer starts processing the case things usually (but not always) move quickly. Review of the petition can take as little as 15 minutes.

I have no explanation for touches early in the process unless people are calling the center and making inquiries. This does nothing to accelerate the process but will result in meaningless touches being recorded.

You have your NOA1 so there is nothing for you to worry about at this point. Just try to relax and pray for everyone in front of you to get approved so that they get out of your way.

Thanks for the info everyone. No mention of money will be made. Margarita told me today that the people at DAS told her that her certificado judicial is only valid for 30 days pertaining to leaving the country. It says on the form that it is valid for 1 year, but says nothign about leaving the country. Her certificado judicial, registro civil, and baptism form will all be dated about 60-80 days before the interview date. Will these be accepted by the embassy? If so,does Margarita need a new certificado judicial less than 30 days from the time she leaves Colombia? Are there any documents she will need at the airport in order to leave? I know she will need the visa, her passport, and the notarized letter from Daniela's dad giving her permision to leave. Thanks

The father's permission leter needs to be recent for DAS to accept it at the airport as you leave the country. Read back through this thread and also the Colombia foro en espanol.

My case hasn't been touched since the 5th, and it seems everyone on the January thread is getting touched daily...should I be worried?

Yes, you should be worried that you do not have enough patience to survive this process.

Do not worry about being touched. Most meaningful touches are registered very late in the process either just prior to approval or when a RFE is issued. In addition, some petitions are approved without a touch ever being recorded.

Chances are that you have a while to wait yet before anyone looks at your petition. In the meantime, try to relax. When you start seeing people getting approved who filed at VSC the same time that you did you can begin to watch things more closely.

I am putting together my proof of on going relationship. Should I print all of my msn messenger conversations? I have been saving them since June, and it would total at more than 1,000 pages. I don't want to waste time printing so much, but if i is worthwhile, I will do it. I have phone records, money transfer records, many photos, emails, passport stamps,boarding passes, hotel receipts, engagement ring receipt,and receipts from flowers I sent. I was thinking maybe I should just print like 10 conversations form different dates. Any input is appreciated

I would print out the history that shows the dates of the conversations but not the conversations themselves. Then print out a small cross section of complete conversations. Make sure you read the conversations you print and black out any information you prefer to keep private. 1 conversation for each month or every couple of months should be plenty. That should get the point across without killing too many trees and annoying the officer.

Quizas manana. Si es posible, llame a DOS en la manana y en la tarde, cada dia hasta le dicen que su caso ha llegado a la embajada. El numero de telefono es 202-663-1225 x1, x0. Creo que no hablan espanol.

Well the boys had their interview today. .... We had photos of me and the boys in Santa Fe Antioquia (sp) and once the interviewer saw these he passed the photos back and told my husnband to go make the arrangements with Domesa for the Visa Package. That was it.

La advertencia vieja esta aqui. Este advertencia tiene una fecha de Junio 2007 y era en efecto hasta hace unos días. Sugiero que usted lo imprima y lo tome a la entrevista. Si ellos preguntan por qué su prometido no ha viajado a Colombia usted puede decirles que es porque el gobierno le dijo que era muy peligroso.

La advertencia nueva (con fecha Febrero 5) esta aqui.

Si la sola vez que usted ha visto a su prometido es cuando usted estaba en Panamá durante 4 días, creo que usted debería tratar con mucha fuerza de tratar de convencerlo de venir a la entrevista. Usted puede decirle que yo era muy nervioso cuando viajé a Bogotá la primera vez pero ahora he viajado a Bogotá 7 veces y creo que Bogota es tan seguro como cualquier ciudad grande en los Estados Unidos. A veces creo que es mas seguro. También, el US DOS ahora dice que las ciudades grandes de Colombia son seguras para los norteamericanos.

hola...bueno a quienes respondieron mis inquietudes quiero decirles que se los agradezco mucho, la verdad en panama solo estuve 4 dias ya que fue el lugar que mi novio y yo escogimos para casarnos, pues el me saco mil excusas para no venir a colombia( pienso que esta un poco asustado con lo que lee en las noticias), definitivamente el no me va a poder acompañar a la entrevista por razones obvias...asi que solo me resta pedirles a todos muy buenas energias...recuerden es el 20 de febrero y estoy ansiosa y nerviosa....muerta del susto, me da pavor solo pensar que todo este tiempo y tantas energias puestas en esto no sirvan de nada.

Entonces no necesita un certificado de la policia de panama.

Creo que tiene que prepararse para las preguntas obvias y quizas un poco dificiles.

Por ejemplo:

¿Por qué nunca vino su prometido a Colombia?

¿Por qué sólo ha visto ustedes el uno al otro un tiempo? (o quizas usted lo ha visto más que un tiempo en Panamá.)

Es importante que usted sea capaz de contestar este tipo de la pregunta tranquilamente y con la confianza. Y tambien es importante para hablar siempre la verdad.

Quizás sería provechoso si usted tuviera una copia de la advertencia vieja del gobierno US que dice que los ciudadanos no deberían viajar a Colombia. Pienso que esto sería municiones buenas si ellos le preguntan por qué su prometido nunca vino a Colombia. Lamentablemente no tengo el documento viejo, porque ellos cambiaron la advertencia a uno que menos asusta hace unos días. Pero puede describir el documento viejo, pienso que todo en la embajada sabe de este documento.

Porque su prometido no ha estado a Colombia creo que necesita mucha evidencia de un relacion legitima y una explicacion buena porque el nunca ha ido a Colombia. Quizas no es un problema pero tiene que prepararse para las preguntas.

disculpame un poco bill pero la informacion que le estas dando a gigi seria valedera si ella hubiese vivido mas de 6 meses en panama asi que si solo ibas de paseo y regresabas a colombia no necesitas el certificado policial de panama ok.

otra cosa deberias de estar acompanada ya que la consul de la embajada de los estados unidos se puede aprovechar de el no ha pisado colombia y puede presumir que ustedes no tienen una relacion es mi punto de vista y si te sirve pues bien.

solo tienes que calmarte y estar serena y habla en el idioma que tu manejes a la perfeccion siiiii si es el espanol pues es el espanol y ya .

eso si si el no te acompona lleva la cantidad de evidencia que demuestre que son parejas y se comunican constantemente ok.

Bueno Kellys, perdoname pero no estamos de acuerdo. Si ella ha sido en Panamá durante más de 6 meses, aun si esto fuera 6 veces durante un mes cada vez, es posible que la embajada pedira un certificado de la policía de Panama. Ellos hicieron este para Buck y Paola. Proporcioné un eslabón antes al foro donde Buck proporcionó los detalles de su primera entrevista.

También, muy a menudo la embajada preguntará si las dos personas hablan la misma lengua. Si ella dice que su prometido no habla espanol y ella habla inglés, ellos podrían requerir que ella lo demostrara. No es importa que ella hablan ingles perfectamente, pero es posible que ella tendra hablar un poco en ingles para la entrevista.

Estoy de acuerdo que en esta situacion sería mucho mejor si el peticionario pudiera acompañarla a la entrevista.

Diana - I checked out the USCIS web site about the K3 visa and there are no bulletins in there. I'm a K3 and STRONGLY recommend filing for a K1 instead, even if you are married already. The K3 is a nightmare! Don't get me started. I want to barf everytime I see a posting where the K1 has a SS number already! If you're considering the K3 route, save yourself a headache and follow the K1 route instead.

That's my two cents worth...so if they get rid of it....good riddence!

I called the Department of State today to see if the embassy had received our case. I am trying to monitor when to fax the packet 3 to the embassy. The lady at Department of State said she does not know if the embassy has received our case or not, but that the packet 3 had been mailed from NVC on Monday. I was under the impression that packet 3 was mailed from the embassy. Anyway, if packet 3 has been mailed out, is it now safe to fax the information to the embassy?

What the lady at the state department said does not make sense. Unless someting has changed, package 3 is sent from the embassy. You should call again and see what someone else says. Some of the people at DOS are better than others.

To answer your question, assuming that package 3 has been sent from the embassy it is safe to respond now. However, in the unlikely event that package 3 was really sent from NVC I would want to see what package 3 says before I responded. If they change the procedure that dramatically they might also change the package 3 instructions.

I know how you feel. I called DOS for weeks until we finally received an interview date. It was quite frustrating because Bogota normally assigns an interview date within a few days of receiving the package 3 response. I got so I recognized the customer service reps by their voice as soon as they picked up the phone.

Hola a todos que bueno encontrar este foro, estoy un poco asustada, obtuve mi visa fiance a finales de enero, tengo programado viajar a finales de febrero cuando termine un curso. Tuve un ex novio americano que cuando estuve alla era un guache complet, por eso me vine. Conocí un hombre super lindo que mi actual prometido y ya tenemos todo listo para irnos. Mi preocupacion es la siguiente...Cuando regrese de USA, por vengarme de mi ex y su mal trato, me meti a su correo electronico adividando la pregunta secreta, descubrí muchos email de otras niñas que el estab engañando y lo que hize fue reenviarlos a todas de tal manera que supieran ellas que el las estaba engañando y se dieran cuenta de la clase de guache que es. El por su intuicion y a raiz de todos los problemas, esta seguro que fui yo la que hize, eso y amenazo con que hablo en INS y que yo tendria seguro problmeas para entrar a USA,en caso de que decida volver aUSA.Pues segun el lo que hize fue un delito.

Hola Claudia, me podrias aclarar cuanto hay que pagar el dia de la cita en la embajada? Estoy leyendo el paquete 4 (http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/wwwfcivappointment_temp.pdf) pagina 2 donde dice traer US$380 para la visa.

Hay que pagar US$131 antes de la entrevista y luego US$380 para la visa? Muchas gracias a cualquiera que me pueda aclarar.

Para una visa K1 paga $131 US antes de la entrevista al banco. No paga nada para la visa a la entrevista, pero tiene pagar un poco para la entrega de la visa a su casa o hotel.
