His W2 is about the past.  It's the total for 2018.  The "past" is the opposite of "current".  What to do, is to get your husband to come here and ask his own questions.  If he didn't submit at least one complete tax return, he isn't finished submitting the Affidavit of Support anyway.  Nothing against foreigners. I'm a foreigner where I live.  However, foreigners seldom understand enough about how things work in the US, to deal with the affidavit of support.  Often the US Citizens don't either.  That you aren't understanding what I already told you about the past and current, indicates HE needs to be asking the questions here.

The problem is that he is not very good at understanding complicated matters especially those related to finances. Besides, he is busy being exploited by the US's "great labour system", so I tried to clear our doubts on HIS behalf.

As u have said being a foreigner, I might not be able to communicate exactly the things I actually mean. Our ex lawyer(whom we fired for messing up) told us that a paystub and employer letter are not enough to prove ur income and a w2 is needed. But we had no problems at NVC ( of course, he uploaded his past 3 yrs returns..along withthe paystub n letter). But since its january now, and he has got his w2, we are not sure if the CO might ask to have a look at it . However, as u said if I got it right..that  a paystub and employers letter can prove his current income...then we wouldn't be too worried. Thanks for taking time to read our queries.

Probably OK.  However, the W2 is about the past.  He'll qualify based on his "current income" which is documented by a pay stub.

Thanks for the reply. He recieved  the w2 few days back. And we had submitted just his paystubs and employer letter which reflected his annual earnings (30,000)at NVC. But as he didnt work for some weeks his latest w2 shows the actual pay he earned(24,000). Should we show the w2 at the interview? His previous income was below 20,000$. I am confused what to do.

For two people, that income is sufficient.  No affidavit of support or income documentation is sent with the I-130.  That all comes at the NVC stage after the I-130 is approved.

Hi, I have a question. My spouse has an annual income of 30,000$ but his recent w2 from employer shows his income as 24,000$ since he got ill and could not work for several weeks as he was advised rest. Would 24,000$ in his w2 be enough?? Also he has 10,000$ savings in bank account. There are just two of us,no kids. Do you think the CO would ask for a joint sponsor? We already have an interview date next month.

Hello I have already corrected my passport with current name and current dob..before filing for k1 and cr1..

Did u provide a letter from the immigration that ur passport dob was fault of the immigration office? And that ur real dob should be this and this. Third world countries systems are full of loopholes and because of their foolishness innicent people have to suffer.

That is the difficult part. When I received the call I forgot to ask about the confurmation email. And now have been trying to enquire but their receptionist is the rudest I have dealt... And does not help. She just said we cannot say anything.

contacted the embassy again and they just asked us to email enquiries to them.. one thing that bothers me is I have never heard of embassy postponing interview dates... So a bit worried and sad that the wait has turned longer.

Make sure you call the Embassy to confirm. And you are most likely going to need an updated interview letter in that case. Ask them to email you that.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had a call from the embassy in London to reschedule their interview? Mine was for 14th September but had a call this morning to say they had to cancel all appointments for that day. I'm now booked for 13th September but as it was done over the phone how do I receive confirmation? I have sent an email via the help contact form on the website but who knows when they'll get back to me!

Hi We too got a call today from the embassy. They told me my interview has been rescheduled one week later than my original date. No email confirmation, just a phone call. Stressing us out. Dont know how to get in touch with them.

    Hi all,

New to this forum! Hope everyone is doing well. I have to say, the wealth of knowledge and support on these threads is incomparable.

We started our process (IR1) back in May 2018 and are in the final stages of getting our case complete. Our lawyer doesn't have the best attention to detail and it has been frustrating working with him on our case. We got our case number from NVC on Dec 20 and all our paperwork was submitted by Jan 3rd. The issue is that while our DS260 and civil documents got accepted today, we got an INVALID DOC message from NVC on our AOS submission - it turns out Form I864 and 2017 W2 are missing from the submission and upon closer inspection, I JUST found out that our lawyer submitted the wrong file where the 864 had to be submitted. #facepalm

I've asked him to submit the correct forms and documents ASAP but does anyone here know how long would the process typically take for acceptance of resubmitted documents? We are a pivot case so everything is happening through CEAC.

Thanks in advance and good luck to all :)

Hi We have gone through the same situations where the lawyer only delayed our process rather than making things easy. My hubby even had a bad fight with the lawyer. He did not scan the civil docs in full layout such that the signatures and stamps of officials were cut off and could not be seen. Can we call them lawyers?!!! It seemed like he was scanning for the first time! And to think we are paying them to do the job more skillfully than us!

It delayed our case for a 6-7 weeks because of thanksgiving and christmas holidays. Hope u get a speedy CC.

After 11 months of wait, my wife finally got an interview appointment for December 2018. When she called the Medical office ( suggested by  US Embassy Nepal), She was told over the phone that she'll have to pay Nrs.28,000 which is approximately $ 245 instead of $162 ( listed on travel.state.gov). Is 162 for Medical fee and the other charge of $83 for vaccine? I'm confused here. I feel like hospital is trying to make money out of us.

Hello and hope u got the visa.

My interview is on 7th feb @ktm embassy and got my medical exam appointment on 30th jan . I have a question...when do we get the medical report..next day? Interview bhnda katti din aghi medical garnu bhayo?

Wait what?   I thought everyone was just waiting until our status on the USCIS site changed or until we received a letter?  We're supposed to be calling them now?

There is a status update on the USCIS site only until they send our case to DOS. After that, USCIS has nothing to concern with our cases. U can start calling the NVC after 10 days from the date they sent ur case to DOS to find out if they recieved ur case.

    We were approved!

    Texas Service Center

    NOA1: 04/19/2018

    NOA2: 10/13/2018

177 days and sent to Department of State. Hang in there my fellow VisaJourney friends! Your approval will come eventually and it will be unexpected, but I promise it will be sweet when it does! Ah man, the relief... Onto the NVC stage.

Congrats and keep updating on the NVC stage.

TSC seems to be all over the place. The USCIS website claims they are (as of today) working on petitions with NOA1 date of Feb 13 but I've already seen about 5 April approvals from TSC. I really feel like they're just sifting through piles and just doing whatever dates they feel like.

I think they do some background checkings and make sure the paper works are rigjt and so the straightforward cases take less time than some complicated ones. That's my opinion.

The on-line form asked if there was any education at the high-school level or beyond. Initially, I marked "yes" and looked at the form which asked for all education from high-school and beyond. Then I marked "no" so I could continue to browse the form. Then It asked about occupational experience so, initially I marked "yes" and it asked for all work experience. Then I changed to "no" so I could continue. When I came back and changed each answer to "yes" the questions had changed for both education and occupations.

In the end, for education, I listed only my wife's college degree and the university. For occupations, I listed one, and the last job she had in that occupation. Then I added a second occupation along with the last job she held in that occupation. That was all I had to provide.

The on-line system accepted the form SB-260 that way and the local consular office (Taipei) also accepted it that way.

My wife has her IR-1 Visa in hand!

Oh so that means they don't ask about the exact dates of studying and working and all the lengthy details. But off the topic, do u think being a high school dropout affect the case?

I was working on my wife's DS-260 when I had to stop and ask her to gather complete information on her 'education from secondary on + all of her employment.' The web site displayed those explicit requirements.

Two days later, when I logged back on the enter the data, the web site had been changed and they asked for 'employment OR education' and for employment, they only asked for 'occupation' and 'any other occupation.' As my wife has been both a Lawyer and a Religious Worked, I filled in just two pieces of employment information and that was all I was asked for.

I'm quite happy that the requirements had been simplified, but it's rather surprising to have it happen this way.

Has anybody else noticed this change?

My spouse has not completed her high school..and never worked. Have not completed the ds260 yet but was wondering if leaving the details blank would make our case weak. Has it really been changed?? Won't they ask about the beneficiary's educational and employment details? In that case, we would be relieved..
