  1. I'm assuming you're going by land so.....

Since you're Canadian, the Canadian side won't ask for your documents. Coming back into the States you will hand the officer your passport and your AP documents. You will then be given a chit and directed to secondary processing. (They will keep your passport and AP documents.) The officer in the parking lot will check your chit, then tell you to go inside. Have a seat and wait for your name to be called. Once your name is called they will stamp your AP, remove the I-94 from your passport and replace it with a new I-94 which will expire on the same date as your AP. They will hand you back your passport and one AP, and they will keep the other AP. You are then free to leave. The officer in the parking lot will want your chit back before he/she allows you to return to your car.

You will repeat the same process each time you use your AP, however, they will not need to replace the I-94 because it is still valid.

    Have a great visit!!!

    KRIKIT hiya,

Yep, exactly right... thats what hapened to me but i was too tired to fill in the blanks   BUT they stamped one and gave me BOTH COPIES BACK..

DONT WORRY MELLYSA, you wont have any problems..

  2. I am going from glasgow to london... I rather stupidly agreed to a morning appointment which made matters more difficult. But I will call tomorrow to see if I can get an afternoon appointment.

But not only is it difficult finding a way to get there on time, but I don't know how long the medical will take so I'm unsure of how to go about booking the return journey.

    Anyone any tips on this?

It's 13th of February at 10:10am (for the time being).

    Hi KJC,

I travelled down on the overnight bus from Buchanan St bus station .. i got there at 6.30am had breakfast near the station, got subway into oxford st....

Got bus back at night.. it left at 9.00 i think.. jeez i cant remember and it was only last june..how sad am i???

so if you can do this ,you can still keep your morning appointment. I also spent the time checking out where the embassy was and finding quickest route to it. Its actually a cheap way to do it. The bus company is called Silver line coaches form East Kilbride. I,ll double check for you as my memory aint wot it used to be...

Hope this is of use to you and GOOD LUCK

  3. The search thing never seems to work for me anymore :(

What can I expect at the border when I go visit my home country? I received two exact copies of the AP thing... so I guess I am supposed to show them both? I think I read somewhere that they might try to take one but aren't supposed to? Hopefully someone can clarify this for me...

Also, there is something about them taking out the I-94 and putting a new one??? Or am I confused...

    HI Melyssa,

I just crossed at Lewiston last week taking my son to toronto airport. I had with me my Passport, 2 copies of AP, original AOS NOA1 and copy of our marriage certificate. On crossing into Canada, officer just looked at my documents and passport. Coming back into the states, they stamped my AP took out my old I-194 and gave me a new one.

I got both copies back and i asked if i needed to go through same procedure every visit... she told me YES,, until my AOS is approved i have to go through their system. At least when i get GC i wont have to get out the car..lol...

Enjoy your trip, you should have no problem... hope this helps

  4. Well it's my b'day on Sunday so we having a burns supper at my parents for around 15 various friends and family members on Saturday. It's sort of been a tradition in the family that we celebrate Burn's night and my b'day together. Unfortuantly even though it's my b'day I don't get the day off. I make the crannachan. My aunt makes #######-a-leekie, my dad takes care of the haggis, neeps and tatties. There will be lots of cairn mhor wine and lots of various single malts ranging from a cheapish bowmore to my more expensive 25 year old port ellen. Oh and my dad also makes me a huge birthday cake. It's been this way since I was about 12 only thing that has changed is the fact that it usually goes on all night and much more alcohol consumed.

Debz can i come????? i so love haggis neeps and tatties.... turnip is called something else over here... i forget its name :unsure: I want o open a chippy here mmmm haggis supper and a pickled onion

  5. home and about to climb into bed for a couple of hours. Medical was fine, Dr really nice german guy who slammed his finger in the door on the way in and let loose a string of obcenitites, most of which were in german but not all, he then apologised and started chatting. He was very chatty all the way through. The only issue I had was with my vaccinations as apparently you need to have had your tetanus within last 10 yrs, well I had mine in 1995 and had an allergic reaction to it, I told the dr this and they said that he could still sign my vaccinations off as if you have had a reaction to a tetanus vaccination then the next time it's likely to be worse and it could be dangerous for me to have it. He has assured me it wont affect my application as I've not refused to have it, they have refused to give me it on grounds of my safety. He put a note on the vaccination record sheet and ticked the vaccinations incomplete box but then ticked the waiver due to medical grounds box. All in all not a totally unpleasant experienece. Just glad that bit is done. Just the hard part now.....interview!

edited for horrendous spelling...sorry I'm exhausted

  WELL DONE debz.... did you get that overnight bus from glasgow..???? i did too...i never slept all the way home..

  6. Hi, there!

I mailed my AOS, AP N EAD in Nov 30, 07. They filed it in Dec 5, 07. I did my Bio. in Dec 15, 07. Then i got a letter said i'm missing some document of the application of the AOS. Now i'm waiting to get that document they need N send them back. I check my state on-line, the last updated was they date after the Bio. I'm wondering will they still process my EAD or they will hold on everything until i send them back the document they need?

    THX!

There is no straight answer to that. Some think that EAD/AP is held up by RFEs even for the 485 or 864. My EAD took 140 days so I PERSONALLY think my EAD was held up by my RFE. So my opinion? Send that RFE in RIGHT AWAY!

    GOOD LUCK TOMORROW.. :thumbs::thumbs: BRADCANUCK

  7. There could be many reasons, the obious one is that they do not want to go through the hassle of employing someone who only is work authorised for less than 2 months.

I do not undestand the working under the table, I presume he has the temp EAD

being paid cash off the books.

the fact that the I-94 expires in 90 days could be a reason hard to find permanent position for a K-1 without an EAD or green card.

As long as he decalres it on his tax return, not a good way to start your US journey commiting tax fraud.

And even less cleaver posting it on an open web site.

exactly what i was thinking boiler.... i,m a nurse and have been offered a job. under the table,.. on the side,.. whatever you want to call it, i,m too scared to get caught out... i,ll wait for my EAD... hoping its here soon.... sigh sigh..

  8. All I can tell you is our RFE during the K1 process took about a week to get the confirmation online and we got an email too. We didn't get anything in the post till the NOA2. Did you get the delivery confirmation back? Did you check the status online? It's been 3 weeks for you guys, that is a long time to wait. :(

hi thanks for quick reply.

we,ve had no online confirmation or email   and my dear darling husband posted it with no delivery confirmation ggrrrr    so i guess next step is for HIM to call them on monday.... and we,ll send out another one... :crying: :crying: ty aggy x

  9. Congratulations Maria! Today is my anniversary date of coming to the US too! That was one of the saddest days of my life.... having to say goodbye to everyone and everything I knew. We've had our ups and downs too. Nothing new there; everyone has them. Like you, I was alone most of the time because my husband's job has been very demanding. But, I do feel at home here now. If I could only move my friends and family down here I'd be happy as a clam. :D
