My husband is in the same situation since December 18, 2019.
What's your situation? Was he missing his birth certificate?

When you are setting up your interview you choose where your passport with your visa would be sent here in Mexico which should be where you live so you can wait for it to arrive near your home since it may take a few days. This is also the DHL location near you that you will have to use to send the consulate any additional documents they request if you are not approved at your first interview and it’s also the DHL you will have to go to receive any document from the consulate sent to you. So you might not have to stay in CDJ any longer if they told you to send the document via DHL and its near your home. You should check your case also on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-mx/iv/users/sign_in I’m not an expert I’m just trying to help. Did they give you the blue paper form 221g ?
Thanks for the info! They gave me the blue slip. As my I forgot to bring my long form birth certificate. My wife's interviewer told us just to submit the birth certificate and passport through dhl and she would immediately get her visa sent. I just didn't know if there was another site other than the crack where I could check the status.

Hi, we were in CDJ in Sept 2018 and the same thing happened to my husband. After we uploaded the documents the next day it showed "approved" just had to wait for his visa which took about 5 business days....
How did you check the status of the visa? Through what website? How where you informed on their decision?
Sorry for so many questions as I'm in Ciudad Juarez waiting, was given the 221g for not having the long form birth certificate.

At my wife's interview when the officer requested my birth certificate she showed the short form, didn't know you needed the long form. They gave her the 221g slip and we just sent out the requiered documents yesterday.
How can we check the status of the documents?
How will I be notified of the results?
Thank you

Yup! CDJ will send you a email saying that they have recieved your case. I recieved the email in the morning and got a call in the afternoon. It's Very quick! I believe the email says in can be sevarl weeks before a interview is scheduled but for me the whole month of March was available for appointment.

I apologise to everyone for taking so long to reply. Each case is different, and in my case I used a medical reason which I'd like to keep to myself.
When contacting NVC about expedite, include:
•Your case number
•Names of petitioner and applicant
•Birthdates
•Timeline of events (I'm not sure if that's requiered but I added it)
•Reason for expedite (It can be any hardship. I will include a link at the bottom for anyone to use as a guide.
•Please, I cannot stress this enough,
Make the email as profesional and understandable as possible! Think ahead of what they're reply will be. If you think they'll need ask for evidence of your hardship, send it with the email.
•Be as polite as possible, we are at the person reviewing the emails mercy to get expedited or not.
This is the guide I used and really hope it helps all of you out. There's nothing to lose by trying.
P.s
We'll be having our interview this next Friday!

Did you have to wait until after getting your case number from NVC to submit expedite request?
I waited 3 months from having my case closed which was on Nov. I would say you do need the NVC number because they ask for it if you only send them a email with the case number. I'll post a link here in a bit. It's a guide that I used

Just got this
The U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico approved your request to process your immigrant visa case expeditiously. We are forwarding your case file to the embassy or consulate for their action.
Any idea how long untill a interview is scheduled?

Oh! I apologise! Yes a huge one!
So I sent my birth certificate on a Friday, and the very next Thursday I received a email saying that it was approved and received a email on Saturday saying I could pick up her passport that very day! I wish you all the best of luck. My wife and I are now happily together and enjoying life as it should be. After entering the US I received her Social Security card 2 weeks later.
