  1. I know a woman (former neighbor and co-worker of my wife) who didn't want to wait for an annulment so she bribed some people to get her name changed on her birth certificate so she could pretend to be single.

I thought for sure she would get caught by the US Consulate but she just got her K-1 VISA! :o

BTW, she told her US fiance that her husband is dead. The poor guy doesn't know what he's getting into. She has 2 kids who she is leaving with her mother. Maybe she will try to bring them later, but I guess she would have to pay some more bribes to get them new birth certificates too.

:o sooner or lated that woman's secret will come out...

  2. let me understand this, your wife is married?

Someone help me out here but I think she's ineligible for a fiance visa.

Not his wife, she is his fiancee, and yes from what I read she was married, and is now separated, but prior marriage has not been annulled.

The rule for I-129F filing is that both parties are free to marry before filing the petition, the consulate probbably will deny this one flat out on the grounds of misrepresentation.

Thank you this the kind of info I need. Can the petition be put on hold and do you know how long an anullment take if it is un contested. I love her with all my heart and will do what it takes to do it right in Gods eyes

the consulate in Manila will know if she's married due to "document verification" and for that she'll be more likely be denied on her interview.

Annulment process takes 6 months or more. Some paid over 50,000-200,000 pesos and took 2 years. I hope she can get a good lawyer once she started this process.

you can get infos here about the annulment in the Phil. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=111491

  4. This document verification thingy sounds like another way to charge money  Everyone is getting rich off the process and the participants are the ones suffering.

  5. I just joined VJ. I have a question relevent to this topic. My fiancee has lived and worked in two other countries besides her home coufntry of Philippines. She is currently in Hong Kong, and based on what I read should have no difficulty getting police clearance from there. However, she did spend a year in Singapore but that was over 7 years ago so is not listed on the G 325a form. Will she still need a police clerance from Singapore??

    Also...what is NBI?

    THanx for your help!

packet 4 (as qouted), applicants who stayed for 6 months or more outside the country are required for a police clearance.

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Information on how to secure police certificates from other countries is available on the Department of State's website at http://travel.state.gov/visa/reciprocity/index.htm
