  1. Just had our interview this morning! We were approved on the spot. Our appt was at the Long Island, NY Holtsville office at 10:30am, so we got there at 10am but we weren’t called until around 12pm. The interview went well, we had some laughs with the IO, especially when we talked about how my husband proposed. He told us right away that we’ve submitted enough paperwork for him to review but asked if we had any additional docs. I gave him copies of the docs stated in the interview notice with tabs and all. He asked who’s the organizer and that he was glad everything was in order. We were still a bit nervous but he was very pleasant and made a few jokes and some irrelevant small talk here and there.

He asked my husband (petitioner) his full name, dob & where he works. Asked him when we got married and how he planned on popping the question. My husband explained how he proposed and I added a few details from my perspective on the proposal. He asked us how we met and when we met in person (we met online).

The IO asked me how I got here, answered that I was on F-1 student visa and I went to law school here. He asked where I worked. He also asked if I was born in the US because for some reason he thought I was. He then went through the usual yes/no questions.

He asked us if we had any questions, I asked him about the result and he said we were approved. He explained that we probably will get the notice in the mail in 30-45 days and not to call in and ask about status until after the 45 days is done because they’re very backlogged.

Wishing everyone else good luck on their journey! Very thankful for everyone on here because I wouldn’t have felt as prepared as I was if not for this forum!

My wife received her AP card last Saturday and I  bought a ticket for her to see her dad.

What documents besides the AP card are needed to bring???

Hi! I flew back to JFK from the Philippines last week with my AP and had no problems. They just asked for my passport and the combo card.

The first immigration officer took my passport and combo card & got my fingerprint and photo taken. He then called another officer and gave my docs to that guy. The guy escorted me to another room and gave my docs to another officer behind a computer. They just told me to take a seat and wait for my name to be called. They called my name and gave me back my docs. No questions asked. Just waited around 5 mins.

Hi everyone! As of midnight last night I received a text message from the old USCIS website (which is weird because that site has never updated for us. Our K1 application still says received there lol) saying “new card being produced” for the EAD as of 11/5. Exciting! However, no changes to the AP status. It still says “application received” on both online portals and the app. My question is, should we be worried that the AP wasn’t approved? Or is this a case of the website playing tricks with our emotions lol. Anybody experience the same thing with the EAD/AP?

Hello! I got a combo card but my AP status online never changed. I just got the approval notices for both EAD and AP in the mail, then received the combo card in about 4 business days.

  4. Hello everyone! My status on egov for the EAD changed to "Card has been mailed to me" last night & I just received the approval notice for my EAD & AP in the mail today.

In case anyone is interested, I requested to have my EAD expedited on 8/24 based on serious financial loss to person & company. I had F-1 OPT EAD which expired on 7/30 and I was placed on unpaid leave. I received the RFE on 8/28 via email, faxed docs on 9/13, sought congressman's help on 9/13 & my congressman sent docs via email to USCIS on my behalf on 9/25. I'm not sure if they even received the docs I faxed on 9/13 but the congressman's office sent it via email and USCIS acknowledged receipt via email right away.

    What is ur current status?

It is not MANDATORY that everyone gets the same status updates with USCIS-- . I've seen people get their interview notice in the mail and their case still says "case was received"

if your case currently says "Ready to schedule an interview" then that means you most likely will not receive an RFE. NBC is now just waiting for your local office to have an interview opening and you will have your interview.
No one can tell you when your case interview will be. You just have to wait and see - could be a week, could be months.

Hi, thanks for your response! My current status is "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview." Sorry, should have clarified that the last update I received before my case status changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" was that the fingerprint fee was received.

  6. Hello everyone!

I just had my biometrics done on 8/24 (received the letter on 8/24, walked in the same day at the Hicksville, NY office). On 8/27, my case status changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview." The only thing on my case history for the I-485 on egov.uscis.gov is that they received my fingerprint fee. I've read that most people have their status change to "Fingerprint review completed" or something like that first. Is this just a glitch?? lol. If not, does anyone know how long it would take until the interview would actually be scheduled? Also, does this mean it's unlikely for me to get an RFE now? Thanks in advance!
