  1. Yes, the soonest appointment I could get for an immigration attorney was for Wed. Just trying to get my papers ready in anticipation and to possibly save time
  2. At https://nvc.state.gov/fin it says "If you submitted Form I-864, I-864A and you used assets to meet the minimum income requirements, submit a photocopy of proof you own your assets. Proof can take any form as long as it establishes location, ownership, and value of each asset listed, including liens and liabilities for each asset listed" I have deeds etc that show location, ownership, liens and liabilities -- any idea how someone can show the value of real estate?
  3. We were hoping that my mom and dad would have their interviews together or on the same day when we submitted their applications. Is this still possible? I assume my dad's application has been set back by at least 2 months now
  4. So resubmit my I-864 and fill out "Use of Assets to Supplement Income" in part 7? By next I-864 you mean for this same application for my dad right? Thank you for all your help -- I really appreciate it
  5. Yes I file jointly with my wife. Our adjusted gross income is $224k of which "my" rental income is $189k and my wife's (W2 and 1099) income is $35k. We have one child. The $189k rental income portion of the $224k gross income is much lower than actual rental profit because this is after depreciation. I didn't include my wife's $35k because I thought $189k was sufficient and it seemed simpler to have just one person's income and affidavit. Yes. Real estate assets minus loans are worth more than $5M and I have $150k in stocks/bonds/cash. I didn't include assets to supplement income in part 7 since it said it was optional and I assumed $189k was sufficient. I only submitted the required 2021 transcript. It's not exactly $189k but yes, rental income has been steady the past 3 years I guess I could just ask my wife to do the additional affidavit of support since she had $35k of W2/1099 income in 2021? That extra $35k is in our joint tax transcript anyway
  6. We got a message from NVC today saying my mom is "DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED" along with an email that says Dear [Applicant], The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate General overseas. NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in KATHMANDU, NEP to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable). For my dad however, it says: Case FE Review note: Please submit [Petitioner]'s Evidence of Income. For more information, visit https://nvc.state.gov/fin. and Case FE Review note: This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. ' Does anyone have ideas for: 1. Why was my dad flagged but not my mom since we submitted identical docs and at the same time 2. How to proceed since the two RFEs are asking for different things. I can ask a close friend to do the additional Affidavit of Support but my personal [rental] income of $189,149 should be sufficient to sponsor both parents 3. Any tips on what to do next
  7. After banging my head around a little here's my own conclusions to my questions: 1. Submit the docs at https://ceac.state.gov/IV > AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT (AOS) > Additional AOS Supporting Documentation 2. Probably 3. I'm going to submit only my own W-2/1099s (and not include my wife's even though we filed jointly) since that's what the Case FE is asking 4. The ph# for NVC is 603-334-0700 but they're no longer taking calls If anyone has thoughts on these I'd greatly appreciate it and hopefully this thread helps someone else with the same questions
  8. It's ok to add more docs to CEAC even if the other docs I submitted says "accepted"? How will NVC know there's additional docs uploaded if my status already says "accepted"?
  9. We got a "Case FE Review note - Please submit every 2021 W-2/1099 form for <petitioner name>". I spent over an hour but wasn't able to figure out where to respond or submit the docs requested. Are we supposed to submit then at https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Docs/ManageAosDocument.aspx or email them at NVCInquiry@state.gov or submit them at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html ?? Any advice is greatly appreciated 😬 Going a little crazy trying to figure out what I thought would be simple
  10. Hi. The docs for our IR5 application says "Accepted" but it also says "Case FE Review note - Please submit every 2021 W-2/1099 form for <petitioner name>" per the screenshots below. My questions are: 1. Where do I submit these docs 2. Is this going to add another 2 months to our timeline 3. I didn't submit "all" W-2s and 1099s because those were for my wife and my income was sufficient and I'm the only person who signed the affidavit of support. My wife and I do file our taxes jointly however. Should I go ahead and submit my wife's W-2s and 1099s or will that trigger another RE for my wife to sign another affidavit of support 4. Is there a phone number that I can call to ask about #3 Any suggestions or thoughts are greatly appreciated
  11. Hi! We submitted the IR5 docs on 15Aug (screenshot attached) and haven't heard anything since. Am I missing a step or should we just hold tight and wait to hear from NVC/embassy?
  12. I'm a US citizen sponsoring my mom [and dad] for their IR5 visa. I was about to submit their "Civil Documents" when I noticed under "optional documents" is says: "Your country of origin and/or the U.S Embassy or Consulate you are visiting may require that you upload additional documents for review. You will be able to find country specific documents in the “Where to obtain documents” link. If additional documents are required, please upload them by clicking the “Add a Document” link below." When I click on that link for Nepal it lists under "Other Records" the following: Identity Card > Citizenship Certificate Relationship Verification Certificate I have scans of both documents -- should I go ahead and upload them under "optional documents" or do I leave these out since they're not listed under "Required Documents"
  13. No, I'm [happily] married and have my marriage certificate with me. Just trying to understand why this is relevant and more importantly if I need to mail my original marriage certificate to my mom to take to her interview.
  14. Oh ok. I wonder why my, i.e. "petitioner's" marriage certificate is relevant to my mom's immigration... And what does a petitioner who's not married upload since it says this is a "Required Document"? Also does this mean I have to mail my original marriage certificate to my mom to take to her interview since it says she needs to take originals of uploaded documents to the interview?
  15. Hi. I'm a US citizen petitioning for the IR5 visa for my mom (and dad) and I assumed that "petitioner" means me. But when I'm uploading docs at https://ceac.state.gov/IV (see attached screenshot) under "APPLICANT INFORMATION" > "Civil Documents" it's asking for the following: PETITIONER'S MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE PETITIONER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE PASSPORT BIOGRAPHIC PAGE PHOTOGRAPHS BIRTH CERTIFICATE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE POLICE CERTIFICATE (NEPAL) Does "PETITIONER'S MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE" and "PETITIONER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE" here mean for me or is it asking for my mom's? Just confused because it's under "APPLICANT INFORMATION" which I assume means my mom.
  16. The "principal immigrants" are my parents and I'm the petitioner. My income is sufficient based on the 125% guidelines so we were just going to list me as the sponsor. Our confusion is that line 20 says "household income" so we weren't sure whether to just enter the same income I had listed on Line 7 under "individual income" or if we need to add my wife's income since we're together and we're in the same "household"?
  17. On line 7 of form I-864 I filled out $X as "My current individual annual income". On line 20 under "My current annual household income" do we need to add my wife's income? We assume she doesn't have to fill out form I-864A since $X exceeds the 125% of 2022 HHS Poverty guidelines but it says "household income" so not sure what to enter there.
  18. Could someone guess/estimate the time between submitting the DS-260 + I-864 on https://ceac.state.gov/IV to getting an interview for IR5? Even a window would be helpful -- we're trying to schedule a trip for my parents and we'd like to at least try to not have the interview fall during their trip. Is this interview date something that is set or will my parents have a say on the date and/or time of interview? Also how much heads up will they get for the interview and how will they be contacted to let them know about the interview? Thank you all
