  1. Hi all;

I got my medical in Halifax, Nova-Scotia. The last ones that was being done with Dr. Doane. The date was October 29th, 2008. I got the papers on November 19,2008. When I was there, he told me every thing look good. All I received was a small beige envellope written all over it, "Do not open" and also a copy of the vaccination records, apart from the enveloppe., just a page. I got the CD, when I was there. What I want to know is, how does one know what's inside the envellope? I mean, what "IF" I am not healthy enought for immigration, would a Dr. not let me know before, and NOT let me travel for interview to Montreal (whenever that comes). It wouldn't be fair for me to go, if things are not ok and spend money I don't need to spend. And let me mourn not ever seeing my husband again. It just seems odd to not have any results of any kind. You pay and you don't get to know anything. And I had to get the flu shot, which he told me was required for Immigration. Another $20. I had gotten all the vaccinations, even those not needed. I misunderstood all the vaccinations. Every thing must be good to go? Sheesh! Ya would think for that kind of money, they would at least share information. :

  2. Hello all;

Sorry, I am a big pest. I wrote down somewhere the fees at the Montreal interview. I have paid the NVC proscessing fees $400, already. We are CR1.What are the other fees? Fingerprint? I know I need an x-press post paid enveloppe, which is about $20. Don't have an interview yet, just writting down budget.

Thanks in advance. One day, I will be answering question instead of asking them, God willing that is.

    Marie

  3. That's pretty horrible. Hopefully Montreal still conducts them so people can just have their medical done a couple days before their interview or something like that.

    Hello all:

All I was told on the phone was I had to go up before October 31,2008 by the Panel Physician Dr. Doane, receptionist. She told me they had received a letter from Immigration that no longer would appointment be done in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She told me I would have go to go to Toronto, never mention Montreal. She booked me for October 29, in Halifax had to get more vacations, as I was booked for November 4th. Could not cancel other vacations. Oh. well. I am very happy to get this appointment. It will be a lot for those who live in the Maritimes, because you could get a medical before interview then relax a little with so much to do.

  4. Hello all;

Just to let every one know, there will be no more panel physician appointment for Halifax, Nova-Scotia.

Last appointment will be October 31, 2008. I found out because my appointment was November 4, 2008. Was called and told about it, and change over to October 29th. She explain that appointment will be done in Toronto, never mention Montreal.

  5. Hello all:

I read somewhere that I may need a "Zoster" shot for immigration. But, I also read it is for 60 years and up in age. What are the real vaccinations I will need? I have had quite a few and those I allready had were done in a lab to prove I did. I don't want to end up paying more money for things I don't need. I am healthy and had no diseases. Had the mumps as a child. Also, is it true that the Panel physician in Halifax will not see without the interview letter? I called them, and the receptions told me it would not be a problem to see me before the interview letter. Also had ear surgery in 1992, it was a simple surgery, should I mention this? I am seeing my Doctor this October 14th, because she went and wrote on my green card ( which is a vaccination record), she corrected two dates that she made mistakes and this will look like I changed it myself. It would save time for me to see panel physician before interview date, and it is my money anyway. My medicare is paying half of the X-Rays, which is $220, I will pay $110. Is the panel physician receptions making a mistake, on an appointment date without letter of interview? I figure the best answer would come in the Canadian forum, just because we are Canadian and would know this. Oh, my husband is in Missouri. I have mailed the DS-230. I am CR1. Please, can anyone answer this quickly, because I am a worry wart.

    God Bless you all.

    Marie.

Just to add from what information trailmix offered, I wouldn't worry about the vaccination record book being changed. Find out what you might still need and if you need anything, (what the heck is a zoster??) then it will be recorded in the booklet by your doctor. Then, when you're at the panel physcian for your immigration physical, they just write down what you've had insofar as vaccinations go on their sheet, based on what's in your log booklet. I'm sure there won't be any problems that it's been changed, but IF there is, the panel physician can just call your family doctor and confirm.

I also think it's appalling that you're paying $220.00 for x-rays? Or do you mean for everything? A chest x-ray shouldn't be $220.00!

    Hello Carla and Trailmix:

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, Carla, they will be charging me $220. Medicare pays half, that is what I was told by the Panel Physician receptionist, in Halifax on phone. The cost of the panel physician is $190.00. Also $20 , for the courier service. I sure hope she made a mistake. Zoster is a vaccination for shingles and it is required for any one over 60. My green book has date altered by my personal physician. This can be fix by her. Immigration will think it's me. I'm afraid to get to interview and they would wonder at the dates. My family Dr, is hard to get a hold off, so if the panle physician would try, believe me it would take a while. I studied the vaccination page that trailmix sent, and I seem ok. I have them all. There is one that I will be due in 2009, August, tetatinus, no biggie.

    Thanks again

    Bless you in Christ. Marie

  7. Me again... Hello all:

I forgot to ask another question, concerning the DS-230.

Do I have to include my husband 1-864? They have said that they have received it. I can't find anywhere on the list of things to submit, to include it. They do not say that they have approve the 1-864, but they have received the fees, all fees.Where do I put photos?

Ok, enought about being a pest today. One day, I will be able to help someone, in this same situation. In my humble opinion, I owe big time to all who have help me here.

  8. Hello good people on journey:

I received in BIG BLACK letters that NVC are waiting for Immigrant Visa application (DS-230) They have received the requested Affidavid of support form (1-864). OK! I do know that I need a CPIC from RCMP. no problem, working on that. I. know that I have to have two copies of everything. One original, one photo copies.

Do I need two copies of DS-230?

Do I need a letter of contents?

Do I write my case number on all documents, including originals. I would hate to write my case number on originals.Birth certificate. CPIC, Divorce of my husband (certified),marriage certificate ( certified).

Do I write my case no. on photo ( both)?

How do I assemble PK. one original. the other copies.?

Question # 20.List below all that I have lived since the age of 16. I have always live where I am at. Other than Ottawa -4 months. Toronto -3 months.

Is it correct to write the place I do live now and write the date of birth and write in not type because you can't. ( date, then present)?

Question no. 22. I still work there today. can I write in after I print ?( The word ) =present)? NVC ask that I fill in both except the last signature on the second part.

Do I have to include dates and signature on all documents?

Sorry about so many question, I don't seem to have any confident when it comes to NVC papers. They are different than any Canadian forms.

    God Bless all; Marie

  9. WOW!!!! you are good!!!! Thank-you. Now that the way to answer a question. You have just un-stress me so much. Just for the record, I have never committed a crime. I am sure that we are all capable, tho. Thank-you so much. You are really great.

This is asked a lot in the Canadian forum.

There is no form to get - you just go to your local police station or RCMP and say that you need a Police Certificate for US Immigration purposes. The certificates they use vary across detachment and police service. You just need to ensure that it was a Canada wide search using either CPIC or the national criminal records repository using your name and DOB. Ensure that whatever they give you says on the form - the names they searched by, your DOB and that they checked CPIC and/or NCRR.

As for cost - this depends on where you live. I have read from $0-$60 depending on where the person lived. Seems like most people get it done cheaper from the RCMP (sometimes for free). I got mine done with the Edmonton Police Service for $30.

As for time - that depends on where you go as well. Some people get them the same day, others get them in 1-2 weeks. Usually not much longer than that.

I have not heard of anyone needing a NVC case number (they probably wouldn't even know what that is).

I have provided the MTL NVC instructions below:

POLICE CERTIFICATES. The certificate issued for your present place of residence must have been

issued within the 12 months preceding the date of your final visa appointment in Montreal. The following

    information applies to specific jurisdictions:

Canada: Contact your local police service or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)

regarding criminal record check procedures. Certificates may issued by any Canadian police force

so long as they note that CPIC or the national criminal records repository was searched using your

name and date of birth. Please ensure that the search includes all names that you have previously

used, including maiden names or names prior to naturalization. (Note: Because records checks

based on name and date of birth only are sometimes less thorough that those based on fingerprints,

the Consulate reserves the right to request that certain applicants obtain fingerprint-based searches

    from the RCMP.)

If you have a record of conviction in Canada, please contact the RCMP in order to have a full set

of fingerprints taken. See http://www.rcmp.ca/crimrec/finger2_e.htm#Obtain. (Note: If a

name- and date of birth-based search by a police agency reveals a conviction record, that agency

may be unwilling to issue a certificate without taking a full set of your fingerprints and sending

them to the RCMP for positive identification.)

  10. Dear Readers.

I forgot to ask. Do I need a special form for my police certificate ( police check). And where do I get this form? Is the form from NVC, or is it just a RCMP form which they would have. What do I bring to the local RCMP in New-Brunswick?( place in Canada for those who don't know) How much does it cost and how long does it take?

I would like to hear only good news concerning my question. No just joking. Anyone tell me like it is. It hasn't been easy so far, so it isn't going to be easy right to the end.

I wonder how many of us get into argument with spouse, because of high emotions? Did I say that. Lol.

    Thanks to all with love.

  11. Hi!! all:

I would greatly appreciate if anyone can tell me, how long is a police certificate good for. It is 6 month or 1 year to take to the interview or mailed to NVC.

Also I read about a new vaccination.beginning August 1, 2008. I had all mine done in 2006-2007. Will my vaccination be any good, since we are 2008. I mean, for example, most needles are good for 7 years. It was 5, now 7 years. I never got a special form for that. In Canada, it is a green book, with lab results to prove that some vaccination cannot be proven in the blood stream.

the last question concern the panel physician. I heard that there is one in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is very difficult to time an appointment with a physician and Montreal consulate which hopefully I will be going soon.

I hope that each of us is with our love ones soon. That no one suffers in the waitting game. We do, but it does make, for stronger character to wait for something, sometimes on edge.I do not have an appointment, yet, but just the thought of going there, makes me ill. It makes me so nervous. and when I get nervous, I am the type that get's all mess up with dates. For example, while visiting my husband in Missouri, at the border, a quard, kept asking me questions about how long I would be there and so on. I told him that I would be coming back July 1, 1960. Oh God!!!!

Thanks for your continued help.May the Lord bless you all for helping others like me . What goes around comes around, they say.

  12. Hello all"

I got my passport in November 3, 2006, will expire on November 3,2011. Good for 5 years. When I got it , it was not needed to travel to the USA as of yet. I married on June 16,2006, in the USA and fill out immigration papers a week after marrying. Went home married, but in Canada your name only changes when changing your name with driver licence so on. When I cross the border going IN the USA, the border quards stamped my admittance with a special $6.00 ticket, to be remove when crossing back into my country Canada. My passports shows my entry June 8,2007 and aslo was stamped my proof of departures on July 1,2007. I would like to use this passport for proof when I get my interview at the Consulate which will be in Montreal. The border quards never ask me if I was getting married, they all thought I was going to work there.(this is why they stamped my passport and told to have the ticket remove upon leaving) When I went back to Canada, they never ask me any questions, just remove the little ticket on my passport and stamped my departures. Do I need to get a new passport in my married name?. I have gotten a long form birth certificate for the interview, (whenever my husband fills out his 1-864.). Not at the interview stage BTW. I think, that the passports in my maiden name would show proof that I do not stay and married in good faith, leaving my husband behide and following laws and returning home. Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

    Marie.

  13. Hello all:

My questions are simple.I can't seem to find the answer here.

No.1. I had all my vacinations here in Canada last year. Most of the vacination were free. Will I have to go to a panel physicians and do I pay for this as I'm Canadian. My husband is in Missouri, we are CR1. Where will I find a panel physcians? How much if I pay for one. What is the panel physician looking for?

We are at package 2 (taxes) you know proof of supports.

No.2. My interview (whenever that is) will be in Montreal.I read on line and heard from others,it's on Rue St- Alexandre. Where is that? Is there anyone here that knows a fairly cheap motel very near the Consulate? I may have to travel alone when the interview comes. Also the police check, here the RCMP are very slow. I live in Ottawa and Toronto , but less than a year in both places, will I need a police check from both those places? How much time do I have to gather all things needed before the interview? Also at my work, I can't just ask for vacations at the last minute.I don't own a credit card to book a motel or hotel, when the interview is booked.I am extremely nervous as we are going through this proscess. We have paid the NVC fees, ($400.) what kind of fees do I pay at the consulate?

I pray for all ,that we are all with our loves ones soon.Begin our lives, althought I know it is very hard to leave one's country. There is a lot of adjustment to make.My husband has been the most patient man I have ever known. He is such a sweetheart. Thanks in advance to all, for always being there for me.

    Marie

  14. Hello all:

OMG!!! I don't understand this at all. We both named ourselves as agent of choice.. My husband has not as of yet file the affidavid of support. He hasn't even done his taxes. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! I received from the NVC instruction on sending them money. Why are they asking me for $400.It says it is application processing fee.It tells me not to send any DS-230 as it will cause delays.I mean if we are both name as agent does that mean we pay twice (hope that is not a silly question, if it is go ahead and laught). We are going throught CR1, we have been approve so far. Please check my time line as you will see.Help, I am so stress out over all these forms, I hate forms. All I want to do is live a quiet normal life with my husband, yes, yes. I know. we have to pay our dues first. Thanks in advance.

    Marie :crying:

  15. Hello all:

My husband didn't make copies of our bio and 1-129 and the 1-130.when we sent them in back in June 2007. I ask him to do so. In fact I told him we need copies of every thing we have in writing.Well, he didn't do it.We did this together when I was visiting, and I was short of time, leaving to go back home. I don't need the copies on our marriage certificate or photos. I am afraid I will need the forms to see what we wrote.Althought I can remember them.I would feel a lot more comfortable having a complete copies of any form. How can I get the copies?Or, relly how can I help my husband get the copies back.?

    Thanks in advance...Marie

  16. Hi Marie :)

First, I wanted to say I'm so sorry people are treating you like you are an "idiot". You are the furthest thing away from that.

Welcome to VJ, a place filled with distance loves and long distance relationships, you fit right in.

Second, you didn't choose...your heart and soul did. You can't choose who you love. There are so so SO many people today who are married, engaged and dating people from other countries. I can see how people who have never ever been in a situation like ours would judge and think it's insane but it boils down to this, they don't know and they don't get it. You love Roy, yes, you could have turned your back on him simply because he is from the States, I'm sure many have given up the true loves of their lives simply because of this factor. You followed your heart and there is nothing, completely, NOTHING wrong with that!

Don't worry about what the others say, it's not their life, it's yours and Roy's.

I also see you worrying about the "what if's"...

Marie, nothing...nothing in life is guaranteed. Sure, it could end 10 years down the road, sure, you may not like it in Missouri but Marie, don't you think Roy is worth the chance? I wouldn't want to miss out on the love of my life and happiness just because of fears and the what if's.

If something changes down the road and you are unhappy, you will work at it to become happy again, such is life. There are ups and there are downs. You will face them together.

All I can say is take each day, make sure you are doing things in your life that make your heart happy and work together with Roy and make the life you want.

    All the best to you!!!:)

    ~Laura

Oh Laura, you are so wise! Everything that you said is true! I agree... nothing in life is guaranteed but that is what I love. Sure, I would like to know how things will go in life but then again, I love not knowing. :-D lol

Yes, Laura you are wise. thank-you. I do know some people who have been too afraid and have lost the love of their life. There is never any guarantees ever.

  17. Sorry, if your from there, was not thinking when I said that. Actually my husband is from a small town in Missouri. There sidewalks are only wide enought for one. I come from a very modern city. Every thing where my husband live is very old. No shopping, but I love small towns.Of course there is shopping in St-Louis

Exactly what has time forgotten about Missouri, Marie?
  18. You are so right. because I have gotten to know my husband so well. It is amaxing how we talk about everything. Maybe things we would have never talk about. My husband is very honest. A quality I love. Being apart has made us stronger and we have learn how to be patient with the wait. Thanks for responding.

    I completely understand your feelings.

Two individuals planning a future together is a challenge in itself and when they come from different countries/backgrounds things don't get easier. I'm sure that we all, at one point or another, when we have those bad days, think about what 'if things don't last'. I'm a firm believer, however, that whoever is going to such greath lengths like we do with the tedious visa process, we have a very special connection with our SOs. Because of the distance, we are forced to communicate better/more with our SOs than couples that can see each other whenever they want to.

In my case I believe that all the stresses of being apart and going through this visa process has made our relationship stronger. We talk a lot and have learned to communicate our deepest feelings, share our good and our bad days, discuss our future without any distractions.

Every relationship needs work, committment, love, understanding and the will to make things work. And you will. If you have bad days, even in the future once you and your SO are together, always remember the good times. How and why you fell in love. All the things you have in common. All the times you laughed together.

I'm a firm believer that everything will work out just fine if each person is willing to do their best. Believe in yourself, your SO and the love you share!!!

All the very best for the two of you!!!! The best days are still ahead of you!!!!!!!!

  19. Hello all. My name is Marie, my husband is Roy. I live in Canada, he in Missouri.. Yes, Missouri,USA the west.I wonder how insane this is. I mean why didn't we all just choose someone a whole lot closer? Many of us leaving our homes, some of us, think well that could be a great thing. Each of us who leave miss our homes, once we do get to join our spouces.Life is so different in the USA. When I went to visit there twice, I just couldn't believe it. It was like time had forgotten this place.I love my husband, and I know how to survive loneliness. There will be good times and bad times. It's just that some people there treated me like I was some kind of an idiot.Just venting , really.I worry about the "IF". What if we fight too much?. What if we stop loving each other? What if OMG,I hate it there?Ahhh. I will feel better tomorrow. You see, we are getting closer and closer to unite. Yes, I am happy and ...............then, I worry, and then I am happy.LOL.

I wish for all to have an easier faster times with Immigrations process..I pray for who are living apart and going through the same as I...

  20. I am Canadian, husband in USA. I have to file my income tax for 2007 as married and include my husband and his social insurance number in my Canadian tax return. We are still living apart, waitting to be together. Revenue Canada has told me to include his number and also his net income converse to Canadian income. This worries me as I am to receive a rebate and also a GST. I will be moving to the USA with my husband as soon as I can. Does my husband have to include my net income converted to USA funds? Will H&R block who is doing his taxes knows this? Please help with this, thanks in advance.

  21. Hi :) I am also Cdn married to USCitizen and going the CR1 route. I chose myself as agent and was then sent copies of notices, requests for this and that etc etc. My husband also received copies and of course he got things quicker than I did because of mine having to cross the border into canada. You can't lose by naming yourself as agent. Good luck with everything!

Hello there Karen!!! Awww thanks. If you don't mind me asking where are you in Canada? I am in New-Brunswick... brrrrrrr ya know. Marie.

  22. Hello all;

I am canadian, my husband American. We met in March 2006, married on June 16 2007. We have received notice of approval. The thing I don't understand is, I received a letter mail to me (Visa applicant) from NVC in Portsmouth, N.H..The question is what does "if my intention is to adjust status with Citizen and immigration services? mean?I am to move where my husband is. We fill out the 130 and the 129 that was needed. Also should I name myself as agent? I am willing to do so. My husband didn't photo copy the forms like I ask him to.. grrrrr. You know the bios and the 129 and the 130. we are aplying for the CR1. I would rather be the agent to receive the mail as my loving husband sometimes misplaces things.. hmmm.lol. man, this stuff is so hard to understnd, I spent months learning all this, and now i can't seem to recall the term status of adjusment. I just want the least expensive and easiest way and also )ahem) the fastest.Don't want much .huh? Please and thanks all to who responds. Marie

  23. Hi!!!! all.. I need to know.. how many forms in all do we need for K-1 fiancee visa. Also why is it the download , said copy all 7 pages when there is only 6, on the biometric form G-325a??

We are taking the long route, we wanted to marry but decided to wait it out,and do the fiancee visa.I am visiting this summer, to further prove our relationship. Why is it that the border quards are so unnerving?I hate the crossing into the US,from Canada.lol

Larer and may God all reunite all those who wait. Marie

  24. Hey there all.

In our daily newspaper there was this story of a married couple.Hes from Canada, shes a US citizen. They married, and he remain there with her.He works a full time job.Now he has been refuse permanent status in the US because, of a two crimes conviction, but he has been there since 2002.

My point is this, can I as a Canadian go to the US marry my fiancee, and file status of adjusment, while waitting, can I work with a work permit.I have never broken any laws of any kind, have all vaccinations, as I work in health care.Is it legal to cross the border and marry, and stay, but follow the immigration laws.We are so in love, my fiancee and I, its not about green card.I have a full time job here and willing to give up everything to be with my fiancee. In fact, I am the one who would be losing much.I have family, and great friends.Never would I thought to fall in love with someone who lives so far.We have been together a year now. We have met in person, last july 2006, and I am going to visit again for 22 days this June.We have proof of relationship, photos, bus tickets, letters and receipt of engagement ring. We are not young, and time is passing too quickly. He is divorce and has papers to proof it.I have never married.Am I to prove this?I .now have my passport, since October 2006, did not have it when I visited my fiancee last July 2006, because it was not needed. The border quards kept asking me question, about my visit, it was really unnerving, finally they let me enter.Whew!!! My fiancee works full time, and makes about $23000 a year, althought he made less in the year of 2005. We are both healthy. What problems would we be looking at?Could anyone answer all these question ,please and thanks in advance.

    Marie
