    Hello everyone,

    I am self employed in the process of filling out I- 864 for my wife and was wondering if someone could chime in with some helpful advice.

    1- which I-864 should I use . ( I-864 or I- 864 EZ)

    2-  My income for 2018 is substantially higher than 2017,2016 ( almost nothing due to expenses and deductions) do I still need to report the income for 2017,2016 on 25a-c or just check I have filed taxes for the last 3 years and report 2018 only?

    3-  I am aware that I can  send 2018 return transcript only, but will reported my 2017, 2016 income would that make a problem, raise a red flag, and will need a co- sponsor ?

    4- will 2019 Taxes will be required if interview scheduled like mid April?

     

    your assistance and input are greatly appreciated !!

    Good luck. Yeah, I have always filed on time no issues in the past years. I had to file late in 2018 only to be able to sponsor my wife.

    I received a letter asking for divorce decree( however, I have included that with my app), my marriage certificate ( got married again), payment agreement setup with IRS( don’t know how to show that if I have only filed late April ). 

    I don’t have a lawyer. I have a unique situation, I have never thought about applying to citizenship ( been resident already for 10 years) maybe I am the only one here with this situation ( everyone else files within 3 years married or 5 if not).

     

    All I can say that, this center is not the best in giving you immediate approval upon finishing your interview( this is the vibe I got from the IO)  This just my 2 cents.

    Hello Everyone,

    I had a terrible experience today at Atlanta field office and need some insight. Here is how did it go; I checked in , got a ticket number, called my number, asked me if I have went outside the states after filing N400. I said yes for a month. Took my GC, fingerprint of both indexes, gave me my paper back and told me to have a seat. I got called again to a different window to take ONLY my civics and English test. IO was very nice told me I passed, congratulations, and then directed me to the 3rd floor. I go to that floor and wait for my number with another IO to conduct my interview. I went in,  made me swear, asked name, BOD, country of citizenship, SSN.

    She Went over yes and no , and surprisingly, some questions didn’t have answers, so she checked yes and no. Asked me about  citation, I said yes so she had to change that, asked me specifics about it, where, when, city and outcome. I read of my MVR , asked about how much were the fines, grabbed my MVR and took it. Here is the funny part, asked about my divorce decree even though I provided a copy online, she asked I need a yes or no . I said no I don’t have it because I sent it in to petition my wife .i don’t think she paid attention to what I said anyway. She asked if I owe taxes. I was going to explain something, she cuts me off saying I just need a yes or no. I said well, I filed an extension back then but I owe taxes, she asked how much and if I have a payment plan. I said not yet because I filed a week ago and have been busy with work and school. She didn’t ask for selective service document although, it was listed as part of the required documents. 

     

    She corrected some information about taxes, citations, and asked me to check if everything was ok. I said know because she had some misspelling going on, she fixed it and I signed. She said well, we are done for today. I need to make some copies of your GC and passport and you can go. She gave me only N652 showing I have passed the test but a decision can’t be made. She mentioned I will send you something in the mail and we will go from there. 

     

    At  this point, I didn’t feel to ask her anything really because every time I try to explain or mention something , she will just say I need a yes or no.

    I don’t know what to expect at this point!

    Any constructive feedback or input is greatly appreciated!

You had earlier mentioned that you were in line (or got the interview letter; could you confirm which one?) on March 18 and NOT March 28 (which hasn't arrived yet). Also your interview is on April 25, not that you received the letter on April 25. Kindly have a look at the table again.

     

    I filed from Atlanta too and I did my fingerprints exactly one week after you did. I am wondering whether I am next in receiving notification about the interview. Thank you for updating us about your situation.

    I apologize if I made any mistakes. That was not my intention, and I asked if someone could update my case. Again, I have received notification on March 18th and letter was available on the same day around 6 pm. My interview is on April 25th. Can someone update my case please.

    I got an email saying that we have taken action on your case. When I logged in I was able to see that my interview has been scheduled. However, I was not able to see the letter on my document tab until 6PM same day.

    Yes, I am getting this sporadically . Good luck if you’re in GA. At this point, I really don’t know what to think, because the portal says that my case completion date is December 2019. Yet, they are still processing October 2017.

    No you can not use the equity in your primary residence. If you have other properties you can use those if it is something that could be liquidated within 1 year.

     

     

    Yes. I understand that IRS transcripts will furnish that information but should I use AGI or total income in my case( combined income from W2 and business profit, I am self employed)

    can you explain why can’t use the value of my primary residence as an asset. Per I864 instructions, I can use any assets but not cars. There is no specification on whether it is primary residence. I am not arguing just trying to understand.

    Greetings everyone,

    I am trying to understand what income should I report on I864 , I receive 1099 from as independent contractor. I have being self employed since the end of 2016. I did file schedule C for 2016 and 2017. However, I am going to amend my 2017 since my CPA advised me to my get on salary to generate W2 from my company and also will receive profit from my company after deducting expenses, mileages, ect. I understand that I will have 2 incomes from W2 and business as well. 

     

    *Which I864 should I file( I864, I864EZ) ?

    *which income should I report (W2 income and business profit from K 1 form ) .

    *If I try to amend my 2017 taxes, because income is below poverty line and owe taxes ( will be paid via installment plan) will it make me ineligible for sponsoring?

    * if my income end up short a few grands, can I use any equity I have in my house even if I still owe and pay mortgage on it?

     

    Well Informative input is appreciated immensely.

    What was your estimated wait time and case completion. I know your petition is assigned to different field office than mine , but I am trying to see if the time range posted on USCIS actually make sense or if you’re case is just an outlier.
