    Right on Ladybirdapple

i believe my local office is orlando..  i have never got notified by USCIS of my local office location nor did i call them to find out...

i have been looking a the processing times  on the location thats closest to me

i wonder how long its going to take them to schedule a date on mine.. i have only received a status change on the website saying i'll receive a letter on the date and location

@nocardyet- I am assuming you may have already completed your bio-metrics and photograph? If that's the case where did you go to do that? If you've an answer for that then the answer of your question regarding to local field office is, the location where you went for your bio-metrics, If I understood your question correctly.

Hi @VG31 is your EAD and ap renewed?. If not, then your old EAD and AP should be valid during the entire duration of ur trip. If it gets expired while you were out of the country then your ongoing EAD and ap renewal application and the pending AOS application will be considered as abandoned.

@senpal86 - My EAD and AP are still valid until next year February 2020, I will get them renewed some where in October this year.

There was a recent change in the process by USCIS when you apply for EAD and AP renewal and if it is still pending then you can still travel abroad as long as your current EAD and AP are valid.

"If you file Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, to request an advance parole document and depart the United States without possession of an advance parole document that is valid for the entire time you are abroad, your Form I-131 will be considered abandoned. At times, an individual may have an approved advance parole document while a second one is pending. Individuals may travel on the approved advanced parole document, provided the document is valid for the entire duration of the time abroad. The pending Form I-131 will not be considered abandoned in this situation."

did you apply for an EAD renewal ..those timeframes seems to be close,,,,

could you please find out what forms did your attorney used to change the status  ???  the process involved ..  this will help everyone here

You don't need to file any other type of form for Change of Status. This process happens automatically when you use your Advance Parole at the port of entry.

My attorney did not used any special form. All they did is they filed my i-485 (AOS) along with EAD and Advance Parole.

I will file for EAD and AP renewal 120 days before it expires.

I will also file for my H1B extension as well in July as it will expire in October and will see for how many months I can get an extension as I know I am almost close to exhaust my 6 Years of H1B.

I still haven't made a decision whether to use my H1B Visa or Advance Parole to seek entry into USA upon my return from my county later next month. If I end up using Advance Parole while seeking entry then only status will change from H1B to Parolee.

You can refer to this site for list of forms -

    Question..

While one is on H1B and they  were issued a EAD

how do they change the status from H1B to EAD.. how does USCIS get to know if the person is on H1B or EAD  ??

they say you have to go out of the country and get back in

in other words   .. when i visit another country and while returning to USA,,,  i use my EAD to get in...   ..  does that mean my H1B is not valid anymore ???

@nocardyet That's correct, you need to go out of USA and then come back using your AP and you status will change from H1B to Parolee (I guess, don't recall the exact status).

I am also in a same situation, working on H1b and I am in my final year of H1B (6 years) with 5 months left before my H1b visa expires. I am planning to visit my country and not sure whether I should use my AP or H1b upon my return.

No updates. Way behind the USCIS timeline. I need to get started on filing EAD renewal application.

Yeah, that's not good. Keep us posted on your renewal process for EAD and AP. I also would need to do the same later this year around October/November,

Did you check what date your local field office is working on?

  7. 16 minutes ago, nocardyet said:

    yes,,thanks..

I see orlando, FL   it says 12-19 months

understood.. so  all 485 are handled by NBC and are then sent to local field office ..  where does it go after a interview is scheduled at LOCAL Office ?

are we notified when the file is sent to local field office ??   apparently i wasn't..

Most of the cases related to i-485 is handled by National Benefits Center (NBC).

No one gets notified once the file is transferred to local field office. You will only know when your interview is scheduled. Beside that there is no way to know.

  8. 5 minutes ago, nocardyet said:

that's new ..how do i find out my local field office ?

    Go to --> https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Step 1 - Select your Form type i.e. i-485 in your case

Step 2 - Select your local field office from the drop down. Your local field office is generally where you are living in or resident of. Example NYC, LA or Seattle.

Click 'Get processing time' and it will show information like this (below example) and refer to family based row.

    so i understand this right..

Although the priority date is current on both charts*  ---  interview date is not  guaranteed

    1) it could take its own pace based on processing times of 485  ( at this point  its hard to track since cases are grouped at  different processing centers)

    2) after the interview is done ..we still have to wait with the processing times on 485

    3) My 485 starts with MSC .. do i check on Missouri processing times ??.. I have been looking at kansas,MO to check on processing time ..currently it says 10-22 months

Please correct me if i am wrong..

Anyone with MSC and has a scheduled interview date ??

No, you need to refer to your local field office processing time. NBC only collect and collate your file and then forward it to your local field office after doing all the verification. I am not sure whether MSC is your local field office or not.

This where my confusion is, how does the local field office treat your case, is it based on when your i-485 was submitted or is it based on your F2A priority date.

The other thing I know local field office work on i-485 cases for IR of USC based on the date it was submitted.

So I am not sure if they treat F2A category differently since they need to submit their i-130 first ( I am not referring to concurrent filing which is application for IR) which basically add more wait time before one can submit their i-485 in this category.

    Thanks,

    V

I called USCIS yesterday for 485 interview schedule but same old information that my case is still under the time window of processing, so no interview has been scheduled yet and there is nothing they can do about it. I asked about the infopass appointment since in NYC area, there is no way to get the appointment and I saw other people try to go to CT or NJ office for infopass, however, the officers there were not able to assist them. The USCIS customer service said even I go to infopass, they will have the same information. She said my 485 are in NY office, I asked about 130 form but she refuse to check since my husband is the petitioner. My I130 was approved last Oct in California Service Center, but never get transfer to my local field office. I went to other website and see people’s comments and sharing also in this spreadsheet that they have been used for tracking, it seems the reason that I didn’t get interview is because my Chart A is not current (which will be current in May), usually for NY area people, they will get interview when they become current then get their GC right after the interview. Some people also said the interview will be scheduled in 3-5 months after they become current.

Hopefully that would be the case. Otherwise, I don’t know what else could happen since there is no way to contact USCIS through infopass appointment and the 485 are within the processing time window.

    Any thoughts guys?

@ladybirdapple - Can you confirm whether local field office works on a case based on the date it was submitted to?

    i-485 for NYC -

Wait time is 20.5 Months to 32 Months for Family-based adjustment applications and current processing date is September 18, 2016.

No .2weeks before my interview, my i130 got approved and they send me letter by mail which says we are approving your i130 petition. but my online status is not changed yet. And for i485 they give us letter that says your priority date is not current yet.so when priority date becomes current NBC will make decision..

Thank you for updating me on this.

My interview was good and officer told me that once your priority date becomes current you will receive your green card. and it's done last month 13th March 2019. My field office is El paso tx.

    What is your field office?

    Hi Bhumi,

If I recall correctly your i-130 was transferred to NBC, when you had your interview last month did they also approved and adjudicated your i-130 at a same time? Did you get approved for i-130 same day?

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    Hi @VG31

I am exactly same as you but the branch office is Santa Ana.  But i will move to Seattle in few months.

I've been waiting for interview since May last year. The Receipt date for a case inquiry is March 29, 2017 for my case. It is almost a year earlier than my receipt date..

How do you know your I-130 is sitting at NBC? Did they approve your I-130?

Anyone know is there any way to contact USCIS or field office for this case except case inquiry?

    Many Thanks

    Thanks for your response.

My i-130 has been sitting with CSC for over more than one year and last year when I did AOS using chart B in September and right after the biometrics after seven days the status for my I-130 got changed and when I received the notice via mail I learned that it has been transferred to NBC and this particular center doesn’t process I-130.

How do I know? If you go to the processing timing and select I-130 you’ll not see NBC in the selection list. NBC only works on i-485 and EAD/AP related cases.

This is tells me that my I-130 is sitting with them along with I-485 and when my I-485 receipt dates approaches near I think NBC then will send both files together to Seattle field center and I think I-130 and I-485 will be adjudicated at that time. Until then I don’t expect any movement on my case and I’ve to wait another 1.5 years before my interview can be scheduled.

I could be wrong in my judgement but I am almost certain this is the case is going to be with me.

Please keep us posted if you see any movement on your case.

    Good luck.

  14. Hello Everyone,

It appears with the release of new visa bulletin for May, my PD has also become current -

    image.thumb.png.e285b26dec72d22f3618d44b79350410.png

Only thing is left is to wait for interview schedule and Seattle field office is still approx 1.5 years behind :( .

My i-130 is still sitting with NBC after the transfer from CSC. No updates on this yet since last October.

Anyone also in the same situation? with a transferred I-130 from CSC to NBC?

    Thanks,

Thanks but my question was around EAD. Not actual interview for AOS.

    Sorry I misunderstood your question.

You can check processing time here - https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Current wait time for NBC to process EAD/AP is 6 to 7 Months. Your husband can expect to receive by end of June or July.

    Processing time for EAD-

    1. 4.5 Months to 6.5 Months
Based on a pending I-485 adjustment application [(c)(9)]
      September 23, 2018
    2. 8 Months to 10 Months
All other applications for employment authorization
      June 01, 2018

His i-130 got approved on June 12th 2018. The reason why it was expedited is because we indicated that we wanted to proceed with adjustments of status (vs. Consular Process) when we filed the i-130. It is an option that the newer i-130 form request you to mark.

It appears that you are a spouse of IR (US Citizen), we all in this forum are from F2A Category.

Hi all, I filed EAD combo card on January 25 2019. My husband PD is 11 August 2017. His i-130 has already been approved and his AOS shows as "ready to be schedule for an interview" at Seattle field Office. Do you guys know when he can be expected the EAD? Di you know which months they are processing at NVC? Thanks

    Hi there,

To my understanding NBC will forward the file once your PD is current as per Chart A in Visa Bulletin. Seattle Field Office is pretty slow and current processing time for them is-

    Estimated time range
    9 Months to 20.5 Months    Employment-based adjustment applications      August 02, 2017
    17 Months to 20 Months     Family-based adjustment applications                 August 04, 2017

The above date is based on the PD of your AOS (i-485). That's how the local field office works based on the date when you filed your AOS.

I am also from Seattle and awaiting for my interview to be scheduled. My I-130 was transferred from CSC to NBC after I filed AOS and since then nothing on my I-130.

I checked other Receipt Numbers that are Before and After my receipt number and it appears that USCIS has already processed those cases for i-130. Looks like my case has been missed due to the transfer to NBC. Generally NBC doesn't process I-130's and to my understanding they may forward this to Seattle Field Office once they near the processing date.

    Thanks

Hi everyone, just wanted to give you guys an update. After getting really annoyed this weekend because I saw i-130 approval everywhere on facebook for PD up to May, I tried to submit a case inquiry which did not work because the system wouldn't let me. Only case inquires with PD January 28th or somewhere around that where allowed. So I gave up. Sunday my husband checked the mail because we haven't checked it during the week. I received a "heavy" letter from USCIS. It was the notice of my interview result stating the reason fro continuance. "Your i-485 interview is complete and appears to be approvable" but since my PD is not current my file will be transferred to TSC or NBC. Attached to the letter was the March Visa Bulletin. Either TSC or NBC will make the final decision when my PD becomes current. I thought ok, maybe my i-130 will be approved at the same time then. But I received another surprise today in the mail: my approval notice for my i-130. Even though it is not the official i-485, I am glad that I got that out of the way.

I don't expect the GC until the summer but I do hope to get it before September as I am planning to travel outside of the country.

@thepanda Many Congratulations, finally your journey to GC is coming to an end. Happy for you.

Since the letter says an approval for i-485, does that mean your AP is still active? I saw somewhere that once your i-485 is approved, USCIS cancels your Advance Parole. Not sure how true this is.

Please keep us posted once your PD becomes current and you receive your GC.

    Good Luck !!

  19. Hello Everyone,

Hope all are doing fine. Just saw the new visa bulletin and it has jumped more than a month for April 2019 -

    A.  FINAL ACTION DATES FOR FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCE CASES

On the chart below, the listing of a date for any class indicates that the class is oversubscribed (see paragraph 1); "C" means current, i.e., numbers are authorized for issuance to all qualified applicants; and "U" means unauthorized, i.e., numbers are not authorized for issuance. (NOTE: Numbers are authorized for issuance only for applicants whose priority date is earlier than the final action date listed below.)

    Family-
    Sponsored
    All Chargeability
    Areas Except
    Those Listed
    CHINA-mainland
    born
    INDIA MEXICO PHILIPPINES
    F1 01DEC11 01DEC11 01DEC11 08AUG97 08APR07
    F2A 01MAR17 01MAR17 01MAR17 15FEB17 01MAR17
    F2B 22OCT12 22OCT12 22OCT12 01DEC97 01AUG07
    F3 22SEP06 22SEP06 22SEP06 08FEB96  01JUN96
    F4 01JAN06 01JAN06 15JUL04 08FEB98 01JUN96

But this may not stay the same in coming months as USCIS has mentioned -

    FINAL ACTION DATE MOVEMENT

Final Action Date movement in many Family-sponsored and Employment-based preference categories continues to be greater than might ordinarily be expected, and this is anticipated to continue for at least the next few months. This is a direct result of fewer applicants proceeding to final action on their cases at consular posts abroad and USCIS Offices. Once large numbers of applicants begin to have their cases brought to final action, final action date movements will necessarily slow or stop. Moreover, in some categories, final action date retrogression is a possibility if demand levels are excessive. Therefore, readers should be aware that the recent rates of final action date advances will not continue indefinitely, but it is not possible to say at present when they will end.

I hope this may continue for more months :)

    Hi everyone,

It's been a while and I hope everything is going well with you guys! I haven't paid much attention to my case status since my last post on this thread, as my PD (4/21/17) won't be current for a while. But today I just realized my combo card still haven't been approved yet (both filings were received by USCIS on June 07, 2018). The current processing time in NBC is between 4 -6 months, so my case is clearly out of normal processing time. Has anyone experienced the same? I raised a service request in January but have not heard back yet. I just tried ombudsman and sent an email to my congressman, but would be glad to try other ways if anyone has a better idea.

By the way, I actually filed for combo card and I- 485 separately - my I-485 was filed on March 7, 2018. I chose to send the forms separately because I know I will need to travel out of US for my destination wedding after sending the AOS and didn't want my AP to get denied when I'm out of US (not sure if that's true but I heard there's a possibility). I'm currently on H1B so getting back to US wasn't an issue for me, but the delayed processing time gets me worried whether my I-485 will be delayed as well.

Additionally, I received a case transfer notice for I-485 in November 2018 notifying me that the case has been transferred to the Nebraska Service Center (from National Benefits Center). I found that strange as I live in NYC, no where close to NSC. Does anyone know why it got transferred and if it has anything to do with my delayed combo card?

    Thanks!

    Hi There,

Transferring of i-130 from one service center to NBC or Nebraska is kind of expected once you file i-485. Same happened in my case as well. NBC prepares your file which they send it to local field office for i-485 interview preparation.

As far as delay in AP/EAD is concerned, yes your processing time is outside of normal window. I guess you may want to call USCIS support center and request to speak with a senior officer if possible.

Not sure if you really can do much in this except to wait. I am sure you will get your AP/EAD card soon.

    All the best.

    Thanks,
