I have several friends who filed their AOSs well over a year ago and have yet to hear anything. I'd expect wait times to go up and not down in the near future. Ugh.

If he has his green card, he should then be able to travel freely to Cuba or other countries. The only caveat might be if he wanted to stay for an extended period of time (say 6 months or more). Also, I'd recommend making sure all of his documents are in good order and there are no blemishes on the docs themselves. I could foresee some rogue border agent using a torn or damaged green card as an excuse to deny re-entry.

The Democrats aren't the ones who ripped babies from their mothers arms and put them in cages like animals. 

If you are a public figure in the USA, Americans have the right to protest against you and if that means you are not welcome in a few restaurants because of your racist and anti-immigrant policies, so be it.  

Most Republicans are against all immigration, both legal and illegal. That would include pretty much the boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, and fiance of everyone here on visajourney.com.

Thanks everyone for your input. After thinking about it all day, I think the lady must've gotten confused. Perhaps she doesn't normally handle fiance visas, or she just plain crae-crae. LOL

I went to an immigration attorney today who said that my fiance and I MUST have known each other for 2 years or longer in order to apply. I've been doing a lot of research on getting ready for the fiance visa and I have never heard of this before. Just the rule about meeting at least once within the last 2 years. 

Was this person out in left field or perhaps is this something new USCIS has recently implemented? I haven't been able to find the answer in older posts.

I was looking through some websites and I came across some statistics published by the US State Department concerning non immigrant visa approval/denial rates. 

If I am reading these stats correctly, it appears as if about 40% of fiance visas were denied in 2017. I can only imagine with our current president, the denials have ticked upward for 2018. Anyone else have any information on this topic? Would anyone recommend better success with a CR1 visa?
