  1. Hello All. Stuck in Post visa interview processing in Athens. My wife's CR1 petition was conditionally approved and the officer said that in
10-14 days we would have the visa in hand. I assume they meant business days because it has been about 2.5 weeks since the interview. The embassy told us last week that her visa was "pending adjudication" and that they need 10-15 business days to complete the whole process. Any thoughts?

  2. Hello VJ,

So my wife and I had her interview for a CR1 visa on the 20th of September in Greece. Everything was fine and she was conditionally approved, except that there was a penal record that had not yet arrived at the embassy. The consul told us that it happens very often ( since the greek gov has to send the form directly, it cannot be acquired) She was then handed a paper that said that final review would occur and that in about 2 weeks we would get her passport back. The consul explained that she needed to arrange for the record to be sent to the embassy which we did promptly on monday ( the interview occurred on a thursday) and he told my wife that in 10-14 days she would get her passport back. We have now been waiting in Admin processing since the 20th , and I have contacted the embassy twice to ask about the timeline. I was told that the 10-14 days were in fact business days and that we had to wait, but that as of two weeks ago we had all of the proper documents and nothing was missing. A different Embassy rep ( through email ) told me that our application was pending adjudication and is in processing. Tomorrow it will be 16 days since they began final processing. Is there a problem with our case? Do you think it will take longer than the 2.5-3 weeks? Our case is not complicated and aside from penal record it was conditionally approved. CEAC has not changed since Oct 2nd, but embassy was closed yesterday. i do not know how to check if passport was sent but I assume CEAC would say issued.

Thank you ! ( on a side note, our embassy does not process a very large amount of immigrant visas every year and I do not believe it is a country that has long processing due to background checks.)

  3. Hello All,

    I was a dependent in 2017 ( when we filed our I-130) and got a full time job at the very beginning of 2018. I did NOT file taxes in 2017 but I filed an extension, and I met the minimum amount of income to be a dependent. I am now my wifes Sponsor , and I am employed and make enough to meet the requirement but do not have taxes filed of 17' but filed in 16' and 15' but was listed as a dependent for both years. My wife went to her interview and the embassy took ONLY my fathers 2017 tax return with me on it as a dependent. My father is listed as a household member, and signed the appropriate docs ( I-874 etc..) My wife is currently in Admin Processing  ( we had forgot to have a document sent) from the last time I talked to the embassy they told me that they had everything that they needed and that in 10-14 days the processing would be complete. My question is;

    1. Will the taxes be an issue for us

    2. Does the embassy have access through CEAC ( we filed through that ) to all the necessary documents ?

    Thanks all!

    Hi everyone,

Im not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question, but does anyone have experience going through immigration in Fort Lauderdale, Florida? I've heard from someone that they're exceptionally rude and that the process can take up to 6 hours. Has anyone been through this or does anyone know someone that has? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Im a US citizen and FT lauderdale immigration has by far the longest lines if you arrive at the wrong time. I waited for almost 3 hours one time. Miami is a long wait as well sometimes. There is a high volume of people who fly in. I can't speak to what the process is like in Ft. Lauderdale for non-citizens or prospective residents. I don't think they are rude, I just think they are understaffed and have a huge workload. Try flying in during off hours. Most of the Europe flights pour out from 3:00-6:00 so those hours are worst. Mornings usually aren't to bad. Hope this helps.

May I ask the reasons the docs were rejected? We just uploaded everything a few days ago and are anxiously waiting to see if everything is accepted or not! I’m not sure on a timeline for you to CC, but hopefully it’s quick!

hello! anyone who resubmitted their documents as required by NVC? how long did it take for them to review again?

Our case is now pivot, we initially uploaded the documents last Aug 4, got the notice to resubmit 2 docs on Aug 12 and was able to provide them on Aug 13.  No update til now :(

We just replaced the document and did not upload it as anew.  We called the support as the upload date still reflects Aug 4 and not the date that it was replaced (should be Aug 13) but he also do not know why it didn't modify the date although the status was updated from "Rejected" to "Submitted".  He just said to just keep it as they can see the updated documents.  Hopefully this will not cause further delay on their review :(

Hello. We re-uploaded docs as well as few days ago. Still waiting for them to be reviewed.

Congrats @arellah! We submitted August 11th as well and I am pretty sure we just got CC, but I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks we should do:

    Here's what happened:

    1) Got an email saying that my police certificate was incorrect.

    2) I reviewed the document and compare it to the info in the link they sent me. Everything they said should be on there was on there.

    3) Called NVC and talked to an agent who agreed with me. Her supervisor sid she would forward the document back to the reviewers.

    4) We got a blank email (no message in the CEAC website)

    5) a few hours later I checked the CEAC website and we got a new message that says "All required documents have bee received and approved.  DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED."

However, on our main page it still says that we have an invalid document.

Has anyone heard of this? I'm calling NVC now but since the wait is so long I thought I would check with you guys too haha.

Congrats on your CC. When did you resubmit ? In a similar boat, had two rejected docs , one without explanation. Called NVC and they explained to me. Resubmitted everything yesterday. Hoping they give me CC asap.

  8. Hello ,

    Me and my wife are currently waiting for case complete at NVC ( we had a few problems with two of our documents and we just resubmitted today. We are doing CEAC online processing.) Does anyone have any experience with the US Embassy in Athens? Of all the cases on here I can barely find any info about it, and it seems that there aren't many others on here going through the process who are from Greece. My questions would be;

    1. How long from case complete to interview? Everyone tells me that Athens is very fast for scheduling interviews, and me and my wife need some peace of mind while we wait for the NVC to check our documents and close our case ( hoping it isn't more than a few days to a week). Our lawyer told us most likely we would receive an interview by early/mid October. I know that it is not the busiest of embassies, and even the NVC told me that there isn't much of a line there.

    2. Anyone know what the interview is like in Athens( questions etc) ?

    3. Is the US Embassy in Athens quick at issuing the visa ( as in how long after approval would you be allowed to enter the United States) or do you have to wait a few days to a week?

Thank you to everyone on this forum.

thnks you give me gd hope now how do you know once they review the case dear?

Glad I can help! Are you using CEAC processing , mail or email? If you are doing it online (CEAC)  than it shows when your status changes. Also, they will email you whenever you have a case status change. If all else fails just call the NVC themselves and they can tell you everything. They have a great customer service line: 603-334-0700. Press 1 for english and then select prompt 5.

Ooh cool but plz give me number of days I'm over thinking about this annoying process I submitted on the 17th when do you think I will get cc?

I think it took like 12? almost two weeks. Could be less or more depending on what kind of case you have but when I spoke to NVC last they said that everything is moving pretty fast! Don't worry you will hear from them soon.

From what I have seen it's normally quite quick after re-submission... why did they ask you to re-submit your marriage & BC?

Thanks for the info! A few days is my guess? Yeah even the NVC help line said it would be quick. The marriage certificate was scanned upside down ( and I guess they can't flip it over) and the birth certificate was a poor quality scan. Today we are resubmitting all of the documents so I am hoping by the end of the week. Our embassy is a low volume embassy , So I am pretty sure after CC we will hopefully get an interview date.

Hey beachboy when did you submit all rrequired documents online?

Hey, We submitted the week of the 6th. Yesterday we were notified yesterday we needed to resubmit her birth certificate and that the marriage certificate was uploaded improperly. We fixed marriage certificate yesterday and are uploading the birth certificate today. I believe it took a little less than two weeks  from original submission to get adjudicated. I am hoping it only takes a few days to review the corrections we made.

    Hello Guys,

I need some suggestions on what to submit for the following under AOS>

    • Petitioners civil documents
    • Other supporting documents

    Thank you all

Hello , Read through this, it should help. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc.html

Also, a note from my experience. Make sure everything you upload is oriented correctly ( the page needs to be right side up and a excellent quality scan, it cannot be upside down) and make sure to CAREFULLY read what document is needed from each section. There is a handy document finder tool on the NVC site which says what is needed for each country. If all else fails just call the NVC (603-334-0700) Best of luck.
