Congrats on finally getting your visa today then! They kept asking for additional documents from me, but luckily for me it was requested every few days as opposed to every month.

Thank you.  Hope you will get your visa soon.

Thanks for the info. I see you were stuck in it for 5 months! Do you have any idea why?

I am from Hong Kong originally, and am hoping to go back and wait out the AP process there rather than crashing on people's couches here until it's done. I thought we were an open and shut case so I'd already gotten ready to leave Japan by the time the interview rolled by. My massively stupid mistake!

Yes, at the interview, they requested for new joint sponsor. I had to go back to China for 3 weeks and during my leave, they also asked for additional documents about scanned travel records (stamps on passport) and updated CV (I'm also in the Tech Alert list). After 1 month, they again requested statement about our relationship with joint sponsor...and then last month they asked us to take new medical exam... It's like they request additional documents each month.  I have read in other thread that some people moved their case to another embassy when they change their location. So, maybe you can also ask them to transfer it to US embassy in HK? Good luck.

Hi guys. I've been in administrative processing for about a month now for a K-1 visa and have some questions. (I think AP is being caused by my Master's Degree being flagged on the Technology Alert List.)

    1. The US embassy in Tokyo kept my passport at the time, do you think they would give it back to me and continue AP even without it?
    2. If they could do #1, would it affect my AP timeline by any chance?

I've read on some forums that doing #1 results in the embassy cancelling your visa application, or taking back your passport results in further AP when they get your passport back. Mixed messages. Do share if you have any info...

The application will not be cancelled. They will continue AP without it. I also got back my passport after the interview and sent it back after my travel. But I think it may delay the process.

Similar case here, my status is still "AP", and my daughter's (1-year old) case is "Ready" after interview. I found sometimes they change the date of my case, and sometimes my daughter's case. I guess date changing means they are working on the cases.

    Hello,

I am a software engineer.  My wife has filed an I-130 application for my IR-1 spousal visa.  I have heard that some people are put into administrative processing, and asked for their CV, at the interview if they work in a technology-related field.

To avoid this, is it possible to send my resume in with other NVC documents, so that they can do the administrative processing on my background before I am assigned an interview date?

    inviting @pushbrk  to answer    :)

    Thank you

You will need your CV for your interview and they might ask updated CV in their format. Although I brought my CV, they asked me to resubmit with their format and then after 1 month AP, they asked for updated CV again including address, phone number etc. of universities and companies.

    Hi all,

I, Permanent Resident, petitioned for my wife and we have a priority date of Jan/27/2017, we now have two babies (twins) and my question is if we should include the babies now or wait for the NVC stage?

I've searched the forum and mostly the recommendation was to wait for the NVC, but those are old posts and doesn't reflect the current climate.  With USCIS CSC taking it's sweet time to approve petitions I wonder if it will be best to just to do that now and avoid further delays at the NVC stage.

If I understood the process correctly, before paying the fees you have to include the babies as to pay the correct fees which could mean additional delays in submitting/processing the inclusion letter.

Anybody here going through the same? What did you do? What's the general advice?

I just checked my old emails and found out they actually sent us Invoice number 19 days after they received our baby's passport and birth certificate. So, I suggest you to send them your twins' birth certificates and passports to add them in the application. I thought adding kids made the process faster, because we didn't hear anything from NVC for 1 year after our i-130 approval.

Here is their response on AskNVC:

We are unable to process any additional derivative applicants on this petition until we receive proper documentation.  Please submit a copy of the derivative applicant's birth certificate and a copy of their passport to asknvc@state.gov or to the address below.

Hi, have you got your petiton approved? I got a baby after our petition got approved. So, we informed after her birth and after 2 months, they sent us Invoice number for visa application. I had to submit visa application separately for her and paid her visa application fee. So, we have the same case number, and we didn’t file another petition for her. I don’t think adding babies will delay the process.

I was sent to administrative process because I need a new sponsor, I just send it last week, how long they are taking to make a decision? Some one who is in the same position as me 😒

I was also requested to submit a new joint sponsor, and still under AP since Feb. They asked me to submit new CV, family info, passport travel records after 1 week they received new joint sponsor’s documents and then asked for a statement of how we know the joint sponsors 3 weeks ago. The AP process was delayed due to late response to their request I guess.

    Hello fellow VJers.

My fiance filed for our I-129F in March 2018, so we still have a while until our NOA2.

    (Hopefully September/October)

Just so that things go smoothly after we get approved, I was thinking about getting my police certificates at the NOA1 stage.

I will need one from Japan, Canada and France.

The French one was easy to obtain online and I already have it in hand.

I'm planning on going to the tokyo police department next week to apply for my Japanese police certificate and get my fingerprints taken so that I can send them to Canada to get them digitilized.

My question is, does anyone know if police certificates expire?

This might be an embassy specific question so it'll be really helpful if I can get some thoughts from Tokyo embassy filers.

    Thanks for the help!

Maybe it’s too early to apply because after you get petition approved, you still need to wait for visa application. To get the certificate, you also need to show them “A document that confirms your necessity of the certificate; for example, a letter from the authority stating the requirement to submit it”

  10. If your fiance's friend meets the requirements stated in the following link, he is eligible.

    https://www.***removed***/affidavit-of-support/joint-sponsor.html

Although it is stated "A joint sponsor does not need to be a relative of the primary sponsor or of the intending immigrant. ", from my experience, it would be better to find a joint sponsor that you both know well.  I had an F2A interview in Feb and our joint sponsor had high income, but I don't know her in person.  When CO asked whether I know her, I just answered I don't know her in person, but my husband does. But CO didn't accept her as our joint sponsor and requested to submit documents of a new sponsor.  So this time, we asked his friend and his wife to be the new joint sponsors. Don't forget to write a statement letter or bring evidence of your friendship (e.g. photos) to the interview. Because they asked for a statement of our friendship again via email.  My case is still under AP... Good luck for your interview.
