  1. the only one i can answer is the first. im an american and my boyfriend is israeli, so i dont know about the others, only going out.

israel is safe. its like a lot of places in the world. there are simply places you do and dont go, and thats completly up to you.

technically the second intifada has been declared over. if youre talking about staying within jerusalem you should have no problem. i have been there before with both jews and non jews, and the only problem ive had recently in jerusalem was being turned away from the dome of the rock, but im a jew, and my christian friends were easily let in so im guessing thats not a problem.

  2. Algeria, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Sudan, UAE and Yemen.

thats what ive heard at least. I know def syria and such will give you issues. and its not always being denied as being hassled.

you can get israel to stamp a seperate piece of paper. esp if youre coming from egypt or jordan that would work just fine. that way the stamp isnt in your passport

  3. Nope, it's not only to talk about the visa process. As you can see by the hundreds of threads, the visa process isn't discussed in this forum more than a bit of the time.

I'd like to hear more about this choice Palestinians have to live in different conditions than they currently do in Palestine.

i never said all of them have different conditions. im just saying i know plenty of arabs, and palestinians, who went to school with me IN ISRAEL, who did not live in these conditions, and did not hate israel. there is more than one side to every story, i just get frustrated with the palestinian side is the only side.

its the old conundrum. which came first, the chicken or the egg? who started this, the israelis or the arabs? who is more hurt, the israelis or the arabs? for each fact or opinion you give, i can counter it. and for everything i say, you can counter it.

  4. How is she not being respectful!!!!! Just because you don't agree with her photos, there are many that do. These photos show the only reality that is left for Palestine. You have a choice of which photos to show for Israel. You can show photos of damaged buildings from bombings as can I in Jordan, but the difference is we have alot more beauty to show. This is all that is left for them, do you not get that?

look, i understand that. you can even leave the pictures up. but look at her titles! "kristalnacht!???" youre going to tell me that titling a picture of palestinian territory with a name from a ww2 jewish masacre is not political?

please. i was hoping to find people with similar thoughts and respectful discussion here. i know why there is so much drama.

and they do have a choice. israelis are not barbarians. we can argue this until we are blue in the face. ramallah and the west bank have a lot of beauty to show. there are plenty of arabs living in israel proper who have plenty of beauty to show. ive never been to gaza, and ive only ever seen pictures from before the disengagement so i cant talk about that now.

please, what does the conflict have to do with this forum? i thought it was a place where people from MENA can come together to discuss the visa process, not tear down other world views

  5. im not saying her pictures arents truthful, im just saying they are political. you can always choose what to post.

i choose to show israels beauty, not its faults, which is def has. why cant WOM also choose to show ramallahs beauty? i know its there.

i agree with the last post. would you respond this way if i had shown israeli victems first? shes showing one side, does that mean i should show the other so we can fight about it?

i was simply asking her to be respectful. show your beauty, not the hatred for the other side

  6. Palestinian man turned back at checkpoint... etc

i thought this was to show the beauty and such of MENA. would you like me to start posting pictures of suicide bomb remains? of my boyfriends uncle beaten to a pulp after being kidnapped by palestinians?

im sure there are things that better represent ramallah than these. ive been, i know it has its beauty.

    seriously, play nice

  7. Hi!

Ive been posting in other forums, but heres an intro

im from california, my so is israeli. we met when i was studying there in fall of 2005, and started dating then. hes since graduated college, and now works in high tech, while im trying to finish up school here in the states. we want to be together for the last year and a half or two years i have of grad school, and since i cant finish there, were trying to get him to come here.

we just started on the application, and ive got a lot of questions. it seems relatively easy

my biggest question is about after. if, 2 or 3 years, after he moves here, we want to move to back to israel... is that an issue? esp if its before the 2 year anniversary? or does it not affect his status or green card?

    anyways, hi and thanks!

  8. my so and i have def talked about living in israel. i lived there for 6 months last year, and have spent almost a year there total. right now i have another year and a half in grad school, which is why we are applying for the visa. if (heaven forbid) it doesnt work, then off to israel i go.

even if he does come here, weve agreed for it to only be a few years. we both want to raise our kids in israel, where they can truly be jewish.

  9. hmm.. well ive been debating if i should post here or not.

my SO is israeli. im hoping that that fact doesnt put me on a hate list, because after reading a lot of this thread i am worried.

but my so is a moroccan israeli. his culture is very different from mine. and i believe this thread started as what we should discuss with our so

i know that certain things... like the general middle east view on women, and how it differs from america, has been big. surprisingly, im more traditional than he is in a lot of ways. but he loves big familes and more traditional roles for women, so that was something we had to discuss.

also holiday celebrations. may sound trivial, but mizrahi jews (those of middle eastern decent) have a lot of arabic traditions which flavor their celebrations (such as food choice, inclusion of henna, etc). something i am def not used to

obviously we did talk about the palestinian-israeli conflict, since he lives in it, and i did too for a while. luckily we agree. like a previous poster said, that doesnt mean you know what our opinion is.

i would hope that you all know that the MENA also includes israel, and non-arabs. a lot of these posts are a bit offensive. i hope to stay around to learn a lot, but i just thought i would comment. hope this isnt too long...

  10. hi guys new here

i guess its a bit different... my so is israeli... moroccan israeli.

ive always been interested in Israel, but my interest in the larger middle east has def grown since we started dating. ive never really loved american culture anyways, so i guess this is my outlet. his culture is very different from mine, but i love it, the family, the feeling, everything

  11. hi everyone

totally new here. i hope my questions dont seem too stupid

im american, my fiancee is israeli. we want to end up living in israel at some point. sooner rather than later

i am currently a college student, but am done this year. i may be going for a year to grad school, meaning that the soonest i could leave the states would be summer 08. im not sure if we will wait until then, or if we will attempt the k-1 process now.

my first question is about the end stay. if my boy ends up coming to the states, is there a certain amount of time he has to remain in the states? the two years of the temporary card? or could we move to israel at any time without affecting his status?

once again, sorry if this is stupid, just trying to figure our options out... thanks!
