Sorry to post on your profile here, I saw that you were the person who last updated the US Embassy Information on the site, so I figured you'd know this better than I would.
Firstly we did the F2A Visa Interview on 18th of December, and we got accepted. We still haven't received our passports back, I've emailed the Cairo embassy using the email that you wrote.
Is there anything else that I could do better? Could this also be affected by the US Government Shutdown? - Thanks! -

They are working on it that means only issue the Administrative processing have no time frame on website of travel state they say it can take up to 120 days when Consulate need more time in finalizing case or making more check about some info provided, as you were not informed during interview that they need any additional documents and they kept your passports it only lead to one thing that they need more time for the case to make their decision.
Some cases here on VJ been switching btw AP and ready couple of times just keep eye on CEAC tracker .

yep you need email that consularcairoiv@state.gov you will need include the primary information the case number petitioner name and beneficiary name within your email i d put the case number in the subject to followed with a small inquire and then your email and what you inquire about also must be at end show who is sending the email like i am the petitioner or the beneficiary of Case number so and so and i wanna inquire about the update of the passport or the case as example .
"Subject : CRO**** inquiring about passport update " as example.
and in email you can put all details of petitioner and case number and beneficiary Aramex number and your inquiry .
if you get your case updated on CEAC at anytime you can track passports from here when the visa is stamped and being shipped to u.

That is weird as it is not placed for Administrative process or anything and you have not had any problems as it sounds ,i guess only thing you can is drop them another email and wait for reply.
From timelines i seen for IR1 /CR1 people got there passport back in two weeks which compare to before shutdown is almost a 10 day increase as it usually received within 5 days max shutdown might be affecting but not that long wait like you have and the email a dress here is outdated it should be consularcairoiv@state.gov for immigrant and non immigrant consularcaironiv@state.gov i update info on here to.

hi sorry for late reply , regarding the delay there is no time frame that we can rely on but for sure the shutdown affect as they are not paying employee and some laid off for now that what i read in news and also they shut some activities because lack of funds ,if u email them that is all you can do pushing on them to much wont be good idea to .
When did u email them ? they might reply to you but they take a while as i attached that even online updates might be limited.
was your case pivot or non pivot did u use the CEAC website to upload things if you check the tracker there what it says last thing.
i hope you get any update soon let me know if you have a CEAC account and what was status update there.
