I was wondering if anyone had any experience with petition for your parents. My wife became a US Citizen and filed a petition to sponsor her mother to live in the US. Our Intervew date is in the middle of next month? I was wondering how it went and what to expect. We will provide the usual paperwork, finance papers, documented proof of relationship and so on.

That's what I was afraid of. Ten years is a long time but still not too late. Cambodia is a lost cause and it's not looking to get better anytime soon. We're more concern about bringing her little niece and nephews over to give them a chance and a better life. They're all under 7 now so not too late.

If someone is a USC and wants to bring their son and daughters who are OVER 21 and with kids how long is the process? I thought it was about a year but as I'm reading over it seems to be 10+ years.

My wife became a USC and is sponsoring her mother to the US. We thought it be quicker to sponsor her mother first. Have her mother become a USC and than have her mother sponsor her siblings. We were looking at a 7 year time frame. All her siblings are married, over 21, and has children. Would it be quicker for her to just petition her siblings now and let it take it's course? Would her niece and nephew accompany her brothers and sisters if they are under 21?

Is the process time the same for sons and daughters over 21, married, and has children the same as if they are under 21 and unmarried? Thanks.

It may very well be just a hoax. I can see someone photoshoping those images. It just look legit that's all. According to what I can Google it's suppose to be out sometime in 2013. Assuming the end of the world doesn't happen today at 6PM Eastern Time. I think it will do well if it comes out. Especially with those case of characters. I for one like movies from ancient times. Mostly the Romans, Greeks, Barbarians, and so for.

We sent our I-130 application to Chicago, IL but our NOA1 shows our petition is over at CSC. We're a resident of Virginia so I would imagine it should of went to VSC. Anyone have any experience with this why it went to CSC instead of VSC? Is CSC faster than VSC when it comes to processing the I-130 for parents? I really don't care which center takes our case as long as it speeds things up. Is it normal for Virginia residents to be sent over to CSC for processing?

My wife wants to go back to school but want to wait until her mom comes over to watch our baby.

PS, not all Cambodians look like John Cena and not all Cambodian girls look like Angelina Jolie.

I think it means your take home pay. I don't think the Cambodian government cares how much tax is being deducted from your paycheck so you need to make x amount of dollars. At least that's how I read it anyways.

My wife wants to know if they will let her mother into the US on a Visitor Visa if her I-130 case is pending. It's still with USCIS and hasn't gone to the NVC yet. She's been in the US twice before to help watch our baby on a Visitor Visa. Both times she left before her Visa expired. Is this something they consider? If so, what are our chances of her visiting us in the US while her case is still pending?

My wife had her Oath Ceremony yesterday and is now a US Citizen!!!! Her Oath Ceremony was at the US Dist Court For The Eastern Dist of Va. I don't know if they were doing something different that day or not but her Oath Ceremony started at 12:30PM and didn't end until close to 4PM. We wasn't expecting it to last that long. It was a very long day but very much worth it. We are finished at last. And yes, she also registered to vote.

Just a quick question on the back of the Form N-445. One question 1. My wife and I are not 100% sure how to answer this question.

Have you married, or been widowed, separated or divorced? Should we select "yes" since we are married? Or select "no" since my wife who is taking the Oath didn't remarry after her interview? I was thinking of "yes". What did you guys put?

My wife's interview is next week, also at the Fairfax offices. Just to clarify: Your wife's interview was postponed because you asked for it, right? Or has Fairfax done away with same-day oath ceremonies?

Got clarification from my wife. Originally we had intended on changing her middle name but changed our mind mid way through the process. They didn't ask her if she wanted to change her name and she forgot to tell them. I still think they do same day Oath Ceremony. The Oath letter was most likely them assuming she wanted to change her name. Oh well... we're leave it as is.

She said they didn't look at any of the document she presented as they had all the paperwork in the original package.

They asked her a few questions from the N400 form. And she answered them all. They than asked her 6 questions.

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

Name three of the 13 original colonies.

Who is the commander-in-chief?

Name on state that borders Mexico.

What political party does the current President belong to?

What are the two major political party?

After that they asked her to read a few lines. And asked her to write the answer to a question they had. The question they had her write the answer to was.

How many US Senators are there?

Good Morning VJers.

My wife had her Interview this morning at 8:20AM. I got a nice call from her at 8:39AM she passed her interview. I will get the details from here later on. Weird thing is she said they will send out a letter for her Oath ceremony later on. Our office is in Fairfax, VA. and they usually do same day Oath Ceremony. We did made an info pass appointment a few weeks ago stressing our travel plans next week and why we couldn't do the same day Oath ceremony. Again, I will get the full details from her and will write about it here. Thanks for all your support everyone. Our journey is coming to an end finally.

Thanks for the advice everyone. My wife and I made an infopass appointment next Monday to see if we can get an earlier Interview date and cancel the name change. Hopefully everything will work out. Good luck and congrats everyone.

Reason I ask is because my wife and I are planning a trip to visit her native Cambodia on March 3rd. We still have her Cambodian passport she can travel with but prefer to use the US Passport instead. The grandparents wants to see our baby.

My wife will be going through the Fairfax, VA center as well. I am curious how long it took from submission to getting the interview? I've seen how some has submitted their paperwork back in July and still waiting for an interview. Just wanted to get an ideal how long the wait is going to be.

Yes, officially the field office designation is "Washington, DC" if you look for it on the USCIS website. However, the actual offices are at

2675 Prosperity Avenue, Fairfax, VA 20598-2400,

and that's where the interviews take place. They adjudicate all applications from DC and Northern VA. Since you live in NoVA, they will do same-day oath ceremonies on the premises if the interview is in the morning. If it's in the afternoon, the oath usually will take place within a day or two. (Unless there is a name change involved; then it takes longer.)

So your wife is with the Washington, DC field office, the same as my wife? (The list says "unknown" for your field office.)

My wife just left for the Alexandria office to try to have her biometrics done early as a walk-in. It seems that the Alexandria office doesn't mind walk-ins and we hope it'll work out okay because her appointment for this coming Tuesday is very inconvenient. We are not really trying to speed up the process. In fact, we hope the Washington/Fairfax DO will keep to its usual slow pace because any interview date earlier than mid-January might create problems with my wife's travel schedule over the next few months.

I wasn't sure how to find what our Local office is going to be so I left it blank. I though it might be in Fairfax, VA or Washington, DC. One or the other. So it's Washington DC than? We live in Springfield, VA.

Just got off the line with my wife. She went to the local USCIS office at Alexandria, VA. Got there alittle early and they took care of her. It was the same guy who did her biometric for her Green Card. She was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. She spoke with them and they said it'll be about 1 - 2 month untill she gets her interview.

Checked my email today and looks like I got a Request for Evidence. I wonder what they could be asking for? As what we send wasn't enough. If anything, we sent more than they asked for.

-Three voided check showing joint account.

-Deed to the house under both names.

-Bank statements under both names.

-Two car titles, car registrations, insurance, property tax.

-Utility bills under both names.

-Insurance card under both our names.

-Our son's birth certificate and social security number.

-Copy of GC (front and back).

-Passport style photos with name and A# on back.

-Check oviously.

-Photo copy of my passport.

-Marriage Certificate.

-Tax returns.

-Pay stubs showing residentcy.

-N400 form oviously.

NOA arrived in the mail today with a back date of 09/20/2010. Case now shows online. Last touch 09/23/2010.
