I had a really similar experience to smartgreen's but with an interview for the N-400 at the LA Field Office. (And I did have a pending I-751.)

Main difference is we arrived almost an hour early but still ended up getting into the building about 10mins late (they didn't seem to mind or even notice... and based on comments from security staff, it sounded like massive lines outside of the building causing people to be late for interviews is the new norm in LA. Maybe time to edit out the "do not arrive earlier than 30mins before your interview time" part of the appointment letter? 2hrs would probably work best now.)

Anyway, I was approved for the N-400 with my I-751 still pending - no combo interview.

MyUSC spouse came with me but just waited in the waiting room the whole time and was never called. (Though we did notice SOME couples were both called in so not sure of the criteria. To be safe, I'd say everyone should still plan to bring their spouse for it.)

The IO was extremely friendly and just asked a few questions as if to verify nothing had changed since the filing (ie. not trying to poke holes, just making sure everything is up to date, was the feeling I got from the tone.)

When asked if I had any updated info, I provided more recent statements from a joint bank account and proof of joint insurance. I had some other docs but the interviewer said "it's okay, we've got enough".

At the end, after passing the test and answering the series of yes/no questions, etc., mostly the same as smartgreen's interview, the IO indicated that since the I-751 was still pending, my file would be sent over to the people who could approve it and as soon as they do that, the oath ceremony could be scheduled.

Next morning, the myaccount site was updated to show "New card is being produced" then one day later "Your case has been approved" (two separate updates a day apart)... then another day after that, the egov site was updated first saying my Oath ceremony had been scheduled. Later the same day, the myaccount site was updated but the PDF if the oath letter didn't appear immediately.

So right now I'm just waiting for the letter to appear on the myaccount site for the date and time.

Hope this helps in case anyone else is in a similar situation and is super nervous about the potential combo interview. I'm sure it varies but try to bring as much evidence as you can and arrive early if you're in a major city.

Wait, you got the notification that you were approved for the GC before you had the N-400 interview? Or did you mean this all happened after you were approved for citizenship?

Just asking because it seemed like most people here believed that everyone who filed the N-400 while the I-751 was still pending would get a combo interview for both while only people who had NOT filed an N-400 seemed to be getting the GC approvals now. Maybe I misunderstood your wording on that?

tcksloth got a reaction from pavirotti in Notice of Case Transfer Received in the mail
It looks like this might be the new way of handling I-751 and N-400 combos.

I filed my I-751 with CSC in mid April 2017 and as expected with CSC there was no activity since... until I filed the N-400 in early April, that's when they sent this same transfer notice within a week (same transfer of the I-751 to NBC.)

Also, I noticed that the appointment letter for my N-400 biometrics (for next week) shows NBC on it so they must be handling both there.

Personally, I'd prefer if they can adjudicate the I-751 first since the NOA1 expires at the end of June for me and the estimated processing time for the N-400 is over a year away. But that might be wishful thinking with the backlogs from CSC right now.

I'll try to update too if there are any other notices after this...
