  1. Hi everyone. I have not been on Visa Journey for awhile. My husband and I have finally saved enough money to appply for citzenship for him.

My questions are about the application :

on PART 8 G it asks how many times has your current spouse been married. (me) so do we include our marriage now ..If I have been married once before him do I put 2 or just the prev marriage .. 1???

and on PAER 9 information about your children:

Is that only children he has had? which is 0 or my three children that live with us?

  2. I am preparing the packet for my husband to apply for citizenship. Other than the standard things we need, my birth cert of usa, his copie of perm resident card, marriage cert.. etc. what else do we need to include with app. Like pics?? bills? letters from people who know us? or is it just standard stuff... ??

    Thanks

  3. Hi

We are finaly applying for Citizenship today my question is about the PART 9. Information About Your Children on the form

My husband has no previous children and we have no children together but i have three children from a previous marriage . I thought we would not have to fil that part out however the instructions PART 9 Information About Your Children. indicates in a list from 1-7 who should be counted as your sons and daughter and on that list number 6 say step sons and step daughter. My question is should my husband include my children on his application as step kids on PART 9 INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN on the form.

  4. Ok so now its getting close to time for us to file for my hubby to get citizenship. On the guides it says that they need all divorce papers on ur us citzens spouse if they had been married before.

I already sent those in the orig. I had. so I have to send originals again? or just the copies?

  5. hi!

I have a question that I am hoping someone can help with. I have previously visited my then Boyfriend/fiance in England a few times last year. I got grilled quite a bit - but luckily always got through. The interview questions definitely have me nervous as I have a visit planned for next weekend. Since we are married now - and he has a CR-1 visa in process - do you think that I will get into UK ok?? ANything I should take or tell them to make it a smooth customs chat!!!? Any advice would help!

    :blink::blink::blink:

Im not sure what the problem is. When I went before my husband came here, he was in London, and I just said I am visiting freinds. Thats it.easy.

  6. The price of the celebrate mercy event has gone down to $5! It's a steal to be able to hear so many awesome speakers and come together with muslims from all over the world to celebrate our Prophet (saws).

  7. Hey everyone,

I am currently in Pakistan with my husband who just got his visa issued last week *yay*- today i found out that I am pregnant- good news, unplanned but its ok... it just doesnt fit in with my plan though of returning to the US and getting back to work. I had an offer from my previous job upon my return but its near impossible for me because the commute alone is 4 hours daily and it is extremely demanding and seeing that I am pregnant now- I know I can not do that commute again. I am planning on returning to the States next month but I am really confused about what I should do with insurance since I have none anymore. I know its going to take a while for my husband to settle down and find a job so I am not counting on that either. I heard I can apply for Medicad but does it affect my husband's immigration status?

    Any suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!

I dotn think that you having medicaid will effect his status. I have Medi-cal Bluecross in California for my kids and myself. never effected my husbands case, he now has 10 year green card.

  8. U.S. soldier 'waterboarded his own daughter, 4, because she couldn't recite alphabet'

A soldier waterboarded his four-year-old daughter because she was unable to recite her alphabet.

Joshua Tabor admitted to police he had used the CIA torture technique because he was so angry.

As his daughter 'squirmed' to get away, Tabor said he submerged her face three or four times until the water was lapping around her forehead and jawline.

Tabor, 27, who had won custody of his daughter only four weeks earlier, admitted choosing the punishment because the girl was terrified of water.

The practice of waterboarding was used by the CIA to break Al Qaeda suspects at Guantanamo Bay. Detainees had water poured over their face until they feared they would drown. President Barack Obama has since outlawed the practice.

Tabor, a soldier at the Lewis-McChord base in Tacoma, Washington, was arrested after being seen walking around his neighbourhood wearing a Kevlar military helmet and threatening to break windows.

Police discovered the alleged waterboarding when they went to his home in the Tacoma suburb of Yelm and spoke to his girlfriend.

She told them about the alleged torture and the terrified girl was found hiding in a closet, with bruising on her back and scratch marks on her neck and throat.

Asked how she got the bruises, the girl is said to have replied: 'Daddy did it.'

During a police interview Tabor allegedly admitted grabbing his daughter, placing her on the kitchen counter and submerging her face into a bowl of water.

Sergeant Rob Carlson said the punishment was carried out because the girl would not recite the alphabet.

Police have not revealed Tabor's military service, but his base is home to units that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tabor has been charged with assault and ordered to remain on his base and have no contact with his daughter or girlfriend, who has not been named. He is due to appear in court this week.

The girl has been taken into care. Her natural mother lives in Kansas but Tabor had been granted custody by a court.

  9. well people...we were denied again...i'm in the process of emailing every gov't office i can....this consulate is DEPLORABLE.....this second interview was a big setup...remember when i said that at the 1st interview the CO kept going to talk to another man?...well the "other man" was who interviewed him this time....same ####### over again...not bothering to look at the evidence and not even the new which included written statements from his entire family showing they approve and how long they've known me and even mentioning the things i like to eat, etc.....the CO said returning it for investigation....what a MORON...that's ok...I'll fight this every step of the way...I'll bug the gov't offices about this consulate that they will look into the matter just to get some peace from me.....it ain't over yet!!!!

Un fricken believable.. Its crazy... I thought when you said you had another interview for sure it would be ok. wow.. just keep fighting it. Dont give up.. It sounds like your strong and determined and thats what you have to be, keep a cool head and go forward in a strong way. Someone has to listen dont u think? Dont give up.

  10. yah thats why they've been the #1 cable news network for so many years.

Yes and thats something to brag about? How sad is that to say we are such an ill informed prejudice ignorant society that Fox News is rated number 1.... and adding Sarah well .. she fits in pretty well with the rest of the ignorant prejudice blank blanks so called media personalities on there. good job Fox.. they proved they can even sink lower..

  11. IF someone is coming on the VJ boards to find advice regarding their visa situations they usually get that and then some. But they seem to take only the negative and leave the fact that many here give support and advice. The other thing is if someone wants to post personal problems then u are opening up to stangers who may or may not be supportive. Constructive and honest opinions are sometimes taken wrong, and some go beyond that to include thier own rants and raves. That can become a problem. BEcause then insults begin and it goes on and on.

I think some people come on here to speak their prejudice, and ignorance and some come on with honest answers. I also think that we can get carried away . Such as the person Sofyia was referring to, I had an Arab as my first husband I could go on and on about Arab men , Palestinian men but that's not right either because they are not all the same and every woman is different as to what she is willing to accept in her marriage.

My biggest problem with these boards are two things. One is that on off Topic there are alot of Muslim haters and Arab/Pakistani haters and they are allowed far too often to post what they want.

The second is in Mena everytime the thread get heated with debate its closed closed closed but in off topic people are allowed to slander Islam, and the middle east more than should be.

    My opinion.

  12. Yeah we met in Dubai in July actually. We talked earlier and decided that we'll meet again in a couple months. It's been 6 already since we've seen each other and we're both going crazy from it.

So he got the fiance visa and you were married in the US and did he stay and apply for immigration, or did he go back to UK? Well, I suppose I can look at your profile to get an idea of that. I will do that now...

he has been here two years now. He came here we got married here, and then we applied for change of status , then for removal of conditions. He now has his ten year green card.

  13. What's stupid and non-sensical is to not defend yourself when you are attacked. The "beginning" of modern terrorism started with the 1972 Olympics in Berlin and went down hill from there until September 11, 2001 when we finally said "enough is enough". Let me give you a little history lesson:

1972 - Terrorists attacked the Olympics in Munich, Germany, killed 2 athletes, and took hostages and a helicopter. Police snipers shot the terrorists but didn't kill them. One of the terrorists threw a hand grenade into the helicopter and killed all the hostages.

I don't know what could be more "peaceful" (hence the doves) than the Olympics but according to your logic we should have just let them go.

11/4/79 - 80 Iranian students invaded the US embassy in Tehran, Iran and took 52 US citizens hostage. The abductors demanded that the US extradite the overthrown Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, who was in the US for medical treatment, so that they could execute him. US refused demand. The hostages were held until 1/20/81 (444 days).

How dare we "invade" their country by putting an embassy there!

4/8/80 - On order of President Carter, US ended diplomatic relations with Iran due to failure of negotiations to persuade Iran to release the hostages taken 11/4/79.

Like with the Olympic attack maybe we should just lie on our backs and hope they don't do it again.

4/80 - 6 Islamic terrorists seized the Iranian embassy in London. They announced that they would kill a hostage every half hour, and killed two.

Maybe the Brits should have kicked the Iranians out so that they could build a hospital or a school where the embassy was?

3/82 - Carlos the Jackal attacked public buildings and transportation facilities in France, in retaliation for the 2/82 arrest of his girlfriend in Paris when she was found with explosives in her car.

Maybe she was just going to spruce up her apartment with those explosives. Feel free to point out where the US has become imperialistic.

4/18/83 - Hizballah suicide bomber with the support of Iran and Libya crashed a pickup truck full of explosives into the US embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. 63 people killed, of whom 17 were US citizens.

Gosh we just keep "invading" these poor, misunderstood people by putting embassies in their county. How dare we!

12/12/83 - Shiite suicide truck bomber working for the government of Iran crashed into the US embassy in Kuwait. Additional attacks on the French embassy, apartments of Raytheon Corporation employees, the control tower of the airport, and an oil refinery. Total of 5 people killed and 80 injured.

You do realize that embassies are internationally recognized as being extensions of the country that the embassy belongs to? Meaning: an attack on a US embassy is an attack on the US itself. But maybe we should just let it slide.

11/20/84 - Truck bomb exploded outside the Aukar, Lebanon annex of the US embassy in Beirut. 24 people killed.

Those 24 people must be the imperialists seeking to destroy their homeland. Again...feel free to point out where the US is stepping on peoples toes here.

12/3/84 - Kuwait Airways Flight 221 from Kuwait to Pakistan was hijacked and diverted to Tehran. Hijackers demanded the release of 17 suspects arrested by Kuwait for the 12/12/83 bombing of the US embassy in Kuwait. When the demand was refused, the hijackers killed 2 passengers who were US government employees. Iranian troops entered the plane, arrested the hijackers, released the passengers. Iran later released the hijackers instead of putting them on trial.

OK, let me get this straight, they bomb our embassy, we arrest some of the people responsible and so that is being imperialistic and deserving of the lives of 2 government employees on a plane?

6/14/85 - TWA Flight 847 from Athens to Rome was hijacked and diverted to Beirut, Lebanon. Hijackers demanded the release of 500 Shiites imprisoned by Israel and the the 17 suspects imprisoned in Kuwait for the 12/12/83 bombing of the US embassy in Kuwait. Hijackers killed U.S. Navy Diver Robert Stethem and threw his body out onto the airport tarmac.

Back to those 17 people responsible for the attack of the embassy in Kuwait (aka US soil). I suppose your justification will be that at least they murdered a sailor and not a civilian.

12/17/85 - Terrorists working for the government of Libya bombed the airports in Vienna and Rome, killing 20 people.

I guess the Italians were being imperialistic too?

4/5/86 - Terrorists working for the government of Libya bombed a disco in West Berlin, killing a Turkish woman and a US soldier, and injuring hundreds.

For the record the US soldier killed in that bombing was there because after WWII, it was decided that Germany needed a babysitter (having started both World Wars). This decision was not made soley by the US.

4/15/86 - In retaliation for the disco bombing of 4/5/86, the US, under orders from President Reagan, bombed Benghazi and Tripoli in Libya. (After the bombing, Libyan militants associated with Abu Nidal retaliated by killing three US citizens employed by the University of Beirut.)

Self defense warrants additional terrorist attacks?

12/23/88 - A bomb onboard 757 airliner Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 (259 aboard and 11 town residents).

I remember hearing something about this in the news fairly recently...who was responsible for that? Oh yeah - Libya!

8/2/90 - Iraq invaded Kuwait, a member state of the United Nations.

Make a note "KUWAIT IS A MEMBER OF THE UN!!"

1990-1991 - The Persian Gulf War: United Nations coalition forced Iraq to withdraw from occupied Kuwait.

The UN coalition forced Iraq out...not the US. Maybe you need to read the UN charter if you think the US was being imperialistic by helping to repel the invasion of a sovereign nation.

1991 - Saudia Arabia rejected Osama bin Laden's offer of his help in fighting Iraq, and then permitted US troops to use its military bases. Bin Laden was said to have felt insulted and became more determined to declare both the US and Saudi Arabia to be enemies.

Saudi Arabia is the one that hurt bin Laden's feelings, not the US. Saudi Arabia was gracious enough to allow the US to keep troops in their county, we did not invade them.

2/26/93 Car bomb exploded at 5:12 PM on the second level of parking basement in the World Trade Center, killed 7 and injured hundreds.

We pretty much let this one slide...regrettably.

3/20/95 Japanese terrorists released Sarin nerve gas into Tokyo subway trains. 12 killed and approximately 5,000 to 6,000 injured.

Sarin nerve gas might not be the worst way to die but its probably in the top 5.

11/13/95 - Truck bombing of US National Guard training center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 7 people killed, including 5 US military personnel.

Again, Saudi Arabia allowed us to keep troops there in case Iraq decided to invade Kuwait AGAIN!

6/25/96 - Truck bombing of Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, a residence of US military personnel. 19 US military personnel were killed.

Has the dead horse been beat enough?

8/23/96 - Date on bin Laden's written "declaration" of attack against the US. The document was written and published about two months after the bombing in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Demands included the removal of US troops from Saudi Arabia, and the overthrow of the government of Saudi Arabia.

It wasn't Saudi Arabia that had a problem with our troops there but bin Laden made it there problem. Maybe we should just do what he says...I'm sure that will work our real well for us.

9/11/96 - The Taliban militia conquered the city of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

    Note the date.

9/27/96 - The Taliban militia conquered the capital city of Kabul, Afghanistan.

Maybe Afghanistan was being too imperialistic?

8/7/98 - A car bomb exploded outside US embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. A few hours later, explosion at US embassy in Dar es Salaam, capital of tanzania. In both attacks, 224 people were killed and almost 5,000 were injured.

The embassy "dead horse" has not been properly flogged and so I'll reiterate. Embassies are used by every country in the world to propagate peace between countries.

9/11/98 The United Nations announced that it had confirmed an accusation by Amnesty International that the Taliban government of Afghanistan had massacred thousands of people near Mazar-i-Sharif in 8/98. The killings were committed because the victims were of the Hazara ethnic group and of the Shiite denomination of Islam.

Akin to Protestant Christians slaughtering thousands of Baptists simply because they have a different opinion about the same religion.

10/12/00 - Suicide bombing of the U.S.S. Cole. The ship was refueling at the port city of Aden in Yemen when attacked. A boat filled with explosives got near the Cole and exploded, producing a large hole in the ship. 17 US sailors were killed and 37 were injured.

An attack on a military ship is considered to be a declaration of war in most countries - including this one.

8/3/01 - Taliban government of Afghanistan arrested 24 international humanitarian aid workers in Kabul. Incarcerated were 16 citizens of Afghanistan, 4 from Germany, 2 from the US and 2 from Australia. Several were accused of trying to propagate Christianity, punishable by long prison terms or execution.

Accused to trying to propagate Christianity...wow. Before you accuse the Christians of being imperialists, a major tenet of the religion is to spread the Gospel to all nations. They are just trying to obey their God in the best way they know how.

And then there was 9/11/2001. We sat on our hands and did nothing (or very little) for years and years and years and years, and 5,000 people paid the price for our passivity. I didn't vote for Bush in either one of the elections but at least he did something instead of sticking his head in the sand and hoping the terrorists would find someone else to pick on.

Yes he did do something alright, lie about almost everything, go to a fake war with Iraq, and ohhh by the way where is Osama Bin Laden anyway? wasnt that the reason for Afghanistan???? hmmmmmmm

  14. Try Dubai. Pakistanis can get visa more easily I think. If you can meet there maybe that would help. Its very hard to get visitor visa. My hubby was in Pakistan. He got a UK visa and then he was there for several years. I met him there and then filed for fiance visa. He tried for tourist visa from Uk to USA .. it was denied. So I went to UK then we filed for fiance visa after I got back.

  15. Not married yet, but I think this topic is interesting! :)

Wishing everyone happy long marriages! :luv:

Wont be too long Aya.. soon.. and before you know it you will have ur first anniversary and then after awhile youll be saying its only been that long?? feels longer..LOL just kidding.. Inshallah youll be here soon.

  16. Good for them! It turns my stomach when brave men who're doing their job are brought before a court some 20,000 miles away.

As for the snitch, if he's lucky he'll end up with a slap on the wrist for self-incrimination. If he's "handled" he'll simply disappear. I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to rat on their own team members.

And anyway, why is this being tried in Federal Court? Didn't this happen in Iraq?

Brave men and women doing their job... okay .. i guess the fact our govt pays them three or four times as much to do the job of US soldiers does not bother you. I guess the information time and again of how corrupt Blackwater is does not bother you. I guess that is all ok.. yes going to another land that is NOT yours and killing people and destroying their land for .. what was the reason again????? ok ..anyway whatever....

  17. Salam/Hello everyone!

I'm new to VJ and to MENA and I am surprised by how help and support mostly everyone seems to have. Just a brief introduction:

My fiance is from Morocco and we have just petitioned for the K-1 Visa. I have been to Morocco twice (once for 6 weeks, second for 2 weeks) and my family knows that I have decided to get married to a man that I fell in love with whom conveniently lives in North Africa. My family and friends have not met my fiance although they have heard much about him and will be happy to meet him. His mom (his father passed away years ago) and family absolutely loves me and I love them equally. My dad is okay with my decision as long as I am happy and my fiance is able to take care of me and so on.

My mom........well, let's just say that she would rather have me die an old maid than get married to him. My mom is well-traveled, open-minded (for the most part) and loves people from cultures all over the world! Well, that is what I thought unless she just does not want me to marry someone from Morocco. She has never met my fiance although she refuses to chat with him over the phone or through the internet. She is obviously very protective of me and she has expressed true hate for wanting to marry this man. Honestly, I don't think she wants me to marry a Muslim man. She had a hard enough time when I accepted Islam (Alahmdullilah!) over 4 years ago. What's funny is that she has Muslim friends and has no problem with them. I hinted to her that I will bring my fiance to the US but I definitely did not tell her that I filed for an actual visa. If I did that, I really think she will do everything in her power to ruin the process. Unfortunately, I had to eliminate a lot of information on my profile due to this situation. I am afraid she will find out.

I am also concerned about our interview in the future(ISA). What if they ask if my parents like him? Should I tell them "I do not know since they do not know him well" or should I just tell them "My dad is excited to meet him and my mom...."

Anyhow, I am curious to hear of any similar stories. Does anyone have trouble with parents/friends not accepting the relationship/marriage? Culture or religion barriers?

Thank you for your time and God Bless!

    Zaytoona

I think many of us have had someone in our family that did not accept that we married men from other countries. The fact that your dad is ok with it is a good thing and a good support. When it comes to the interview I dont think they will ask so much about ur family, but even then u dont have to elaborate abut ur mom if she does not come around. They wont focus on that anyway. Be patient with your mom and try to understand why she feels the way she does.
