    Sorry just to be clear....

    You sent 3 certified MC's?

3 BC's or passport bio pages?

    3 K1 Visa copies?

    3 I94s?

    3 I797 Approval Notices?

    And 6- 2x2 passport photos?

You only changed your name as follows:

Maiden name: Jane Mary Smith (states that on passport, BC, K1 Visa, I94 etc)

Married name on MC: Jane Mary Smith with the it implied that you will be taking your husband's name of Jones and his name is listed on your MC as Jones.

And the I485, I765 and i131 states Jane Mary Jones?

Correct. I sent a separate copy of each document listed above with each form, so 3 copies of everything.

And yes my maiden name was Laura G P...... which is listed my maiden name on my marriage certificate. My husband’s name is Michael V..... and my married name on MC is Laura G V.....

Then it probably got misplaced. Not sure how an attny would help with a response. Sure they will take your $$ and file a response but you can do that yourself. Make sure its the certificate and not the marriage license and send it back with all the other things they listed and a brief letter stating you are using your married name on your AOS/765/131.

Thank you! I will do it myself. The stress of this processes makes us not think clealry sometimes!

  3. So I got an RFE on both my i-131 and i-765. Both letters say the exact same thing. I’m attaching a picture of the RFE. So my question is, since I have already provided them with the exact information that they’re asking for, shoul I just send the same documents again, or should I get a lawyer? I’m afraid if ny documents were overlooked the first time they will be again. Of course my name is not the same because I changed it when I married my fiancé but that’s what the marriage certificate os for! I’m at a loss here.

Also here’s what I sent on both cases with my original forms:

    Form I-131 signed by applicant
Two (2) passport style photos of applicant
Copy of applicant’s passport (biographic, stamps and visas)
    Copy of applicants K1 Visa
Copy of Form I-94 Record of Arrival
Copy of Form I-797 Approval Notice for I-129F Application
    Certified Marriage Certificate

  5. True they don't count until they are born, but if for some reason the processing time goes beyond her due date and they have been born at the time of her interview you might be asked to show that you can support a household of 4 as opposed to 2. Someone just posted today they were asked to provide a joint sponsor because he met the poverty guideline for 2 but not 3 and his wife had given birth to their first child at the time of the interview.

Saw on another site that someone with Aug 2 PD date and no expedite was approved on Friday for EAD/AP! They said only AP status changed. EAD is still fingerprints complete. Hope we will be next!!

This is great news!! My date is August 2. Can you share the other site where you saw this? I would love to have another place to look obsessively for approvals like I've been doing here on VJ 😂

Oh damn, that sucks. I really hope they were in the wrong. Have you tried going to a different DMV? Maybe the lady at the booth was wrong!

I haven’t tried again because the wait is too long if you go in without an appointment like last time (most of the DMV offices in this area are terrible packed) so I requested an appointment at a different one and the first one available was December 14th. I’ll report back once I go!

  8. Speaking from my own experience with the California DMV. K1 holder here and waiting for EAD. I tried to get my license in San Jose, CA in September after I got my NOA from filing AOS. I brought my i-94 (which wasn’t expired) and the NOA along with my lease agreement and electricity bill with my name on it. They didn’t let me get my license. Mind you the person who checks documents at the entrance thought it was fine so she let me get in and take a number. It took 7 hours (9 am to 4 pm) for my number to be called. When I reached the window the lady there said I need to come back once I get my EAD. 7 hours wasted and here I am 3 months later and still don’t have a license.

  9. I don’t know how it works specifically for Canada, but in Colombia when they approved my K1 Visa at the interview she immediately stamped my previous visa (a tourist visa) with a red stamp that said cancelled without prejudice or something like that. She explained that because I was now a K1 holder the other one was no longer valid since you can’t hold two different visas at the same time.

What do you say every time you call? How do you know when to start and stop calling? When do you start calling NVC? Once the NOA2 has been received?

The first times that I called they would just ask for my USCIS number and then tell me that nothing had been received yet and it could take up to 6 weeks. On Friday April 27th  after giving them the case number they said they had received my case but no number had been assigned. Today they asked me for the USCIS number and then for my name (beneficiary) my DOB and my fiance's name. After they verified the information she asked "So how can I help you today" to which I replied "I was told that my case was received last Friday so I wanted to know if it has been assigned a number" and she proceeded to confirm my number. You can start calling roughly 10 days after your NOA2 date, but be aware that this past month it's taken 2-3 weeks to receive the files. You will first be informed that they have received the case and you'll have to keep calling until they can give you a case number. After receiving the number you can start tracking the status on the CEAC website https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

Did anyone else try to call NVC today (or maybe already 4 times haha) and didn't get through ? First time that happened to me .... Is that normal on Mondays?

Me! First 5 attempts I got either "the number you're calling from has been associated with hight volume calling" or "All or representatives are busy try again later". I just got through however, and I'm currently on hold!

  12. After you finished your DS-160 did you go to the other website https://ais.usvisa-info.com/es-co/iv/information/k_visa ?

On this website you are supposed to create a user with the information from the DS-160 and then it will allow you to pay for the visa fee and you will have to schedule 2 appointments. One at the CAS which is where you will have your picture taken and be fingerprinted, and the second one at the consulate for the actual interview. The next available appointment might be in 2-4 weeks but you should be able to schedule it right away. No need to wait for appointments to become available to schedule. This information regarding the interview process should have been in the combined packet 3 and 4 that the embassy sent you after your case appeared "ready" at the CEAC. If you're still having trouble you can try calling the embassy at these numbers:

    Colombia:(571) 5088165 – (571) 5088185 y en Estados Unidos: (1)7032494652.
