Tc123, thank you for your support and as much wait this has been, more than 2 years in the making, people like you have made this journey motivating, promising and reassuring. It is in the engaging comments, feedback and acknowledgements that we all probably find our strength in this process. I am glad that you got to the finish line. Congratulations and continue to be there for others who are uncertain about their case process!

Just an update...I got my approval letter in mail yesterday! it came from NBC and the notice date was the same day as my interview date so I guess they approved me right after my interview. Now I’m waiting for the Oath ceremony notice. Hopefully you get the new interview notice soon too, please keep us posted. I can’t wait to see you get approved soon too, this journey is way too long!

    Hi Everyone

I just want to share my combo interview experience at the SF office earlier this week.

My wife and I went together for the interview. When we entered the building, I showed the security guy the 2 notices, I-751 and N-400. He told me he has been working here for 6 years and he hasn’t seen the 2 notices for the combo interview before and I was the third person today for the combo interview. I guess SF office just changed their procedure recently for those who have N-400 interview with I-751 pending, so they canceled everyone and rescheduled with the 2 notices.

After checking in, we waited for around 1 hour in the waiting area. We didn’t get called until 30 minutes passed our interview appointment, then the lady came from the other side of the waiting area and called my name. She told me that my interviewer was still with other people so she took over instead because she didn’t want us to wait any longer.

The lady was very nice and friendly, I was glad that we got her as our interviewer. First she had us swear in and then she went through our I-751 package that we sent to CSC 2 years ago and she asked all the general questions like how we met, where do we live, work and travel history, and then I gave her all the updated documents for the past 2 years after I filed I-751 and also the photos from different trips and family events. After I-751, she went through with N-400 with me while my wife was in the room too. First she asked me to read 1 sentence, write 1 sentence then she asked me the civics test and I could answer the first 6 questions so she stopped. I feel like the N-400 was very quick, probably 10-15 minutes and that’s it.

At the end she handed me the N-652 form showing that I passed the tests of English and US history and the USCIS will send you a written decision about your application. She told me that I won’t get the 10 years green card since I passed the N-400 and she also asked me to sign the form and gave me a copy showing that I won’t have the green card to turn in at the Oath ceremony because my 2 years green card got taken away by SFO CBP when I traveled with extension stamp earlier this year. The whole process took around 35-40 minutes. Before we left the interviewer told me that I would get the notice in mail within 30 days. Later on that day, my I-751 status online changed to “ name was updated “ I don’t know what that means because I haven’t changed my name or anything but I guess it is a good thing that something is updated on my status. I am glad that my journey is almost over after 2 years!!

For those of you who are waiting for combo interview, Good Luck to you all!! and those SF filers whose N-400 interview just got canceled, you will definitely hear from them soon with the 2 notices on the same day and same time. Hang in there, this journey will eventually done soon!

    Update,

This is a little our of ordinary but my God is an out of ordinary God. Anyways, we just got a call from NCIS and they told us that our N400 application for the interview yesterday has been approved. They wanted to see if we can attend the Oath Ceremony next week 8/23. I inquired what happened to the mail letter, she said she is calling because the letter will not make it on time in the mail. Therefore, we need to go to the counter to pick it up 1/2 an hour before the ceremony. It all work out great because the following week, husband goes back to school so he will not have to miss school to attend these immigration matters. I am beyond thrilled. One more week until this process is over. Next thing on our agenda, application for my mother in law to move to the states.

Thank you Jesus!!! We are almost there.

I know right, we were the unlucky ones! What you said was so true! We got delayed on I-751 because of N-400 when we’re supposed to get our 10 years green card in the beginning of this year and now our N-400 got delayed because of I-751, that’s why they canceled our interview! It sucks to wait this long! But if you think in a good way, it is a good thing that SF office is doing the combo interview so they can adjudicate concurrently  because I have read from different forum that some people passed their N-400 but still have to wait for months because I-751 is still pending especially Chicago office, from what i heard they don’t do combo interview. Hang in there, you will definitely hear from them soon

Thanks! No, she didn’t tell me but she said everything looks good and she also mentioned I won’t get 10 years green card and asked me to sign the form that I won’t have the 2 years green card to turn in at the Oath ceremony so I assumed that I should be approved...Hopefully! I keep you posted if my online status change again.

Hi, just a quick update. I did my combo interview 6/19/18. Took my spouse with me, but the officer said they don’t need him to go in with me.
The worst that could have happened, happened. I forgot my green card and my marriage certificate at home. This is why women should not change out purses often!!! Luckily, I had my sister bring my green card to us since we lived an hour away! The officer said if I had submitted my marriage certificate twice in the past (I-485/I-130 and I-751) with my application package, then he’ll look through the file and that I won’t need to mail it in separately. We began with the standard procedures like swearing to tell the truth and then did the history test. He didn’t ask me anything about marriage nor for evidence. I offered my 3 years tax returns and new leasing agreement, which he was like “sure, I’ll go make a copy”. He did subtly asked me if my spouse had been to my country and I said yes and talked about our time there with my family and hope to visit again soon once all this is finalized. At the end of the interview, the officer gave me a piece of paper that said that I passed the test, but they can’t make a decision right now. I apologized for my lack of preparation. The officer was friendly and said he is only concerned about my date of eligibility since I’m applying under the 3-year basis. Which I told him it’s going on 4 years since I became a PR. Anyway, he told me they will communicate their decision via mail and to wait 1-2 weeks (Liessss! Haha). Here we are, 4 weeks later. Waiting. Minus the Independence holiday, ok... :/
On 7/16/18, I got the congratulations for approval to remove conditions. Half excited that something is moving, but since applying for N-400, I’ve just been focused on that. I guess this I-751 chapter of my journey is finally closed and just waiting for my new card in mail.
Hope ya’ll are doing well! One more step to go! And congrats to those who became citizen!

    Hi all

Just want to share with you about my combo interview at the SF office early this month.

With both the I-751 and N-400 interview notices, my spouse and I attended the combo interview at the SF office. We waited for around 10-15 mins in the waiting area and were called in for the interview. A middle-aged Asian woman was the interviewer, very nice, friendly. First, she had us swear in, then had us review the G-325 forms which were submitted with my I-485 fours years ago. She said if there are any changes since then, just make corrections on the form and sign. Then, she asked me and my spouse some questions re our life, family, how we met, travel history, etc. After around 5 mins, she had my spouse leave the room and wait outside, then she started the N-400 interview. She started the civics test first, then writing and speaking test. The six questions she asked are all very simple questions, including what is rule of law, name of ocean on the west coast, name of anthem,  and I forgot the other three. There are 10 questions on the list, as long as you got the first six right, she would stop asking. After that, she started going over the N-400 form's questions one by one with me. She would make notes on the forms, this process took around 15 mins, coz it is a long form. Then she asked if I brought any updated docs. Then I handed her the 2016 and 2017 tax returns, more updated mortgage statements, car registration, health coverage statement, W-2s, bank statement, etc. all showing joint ownership. and photos. She kept some of the docs in  my file. Then at last, she handed me a letter Form N-652 showing that I passed the civics and English test, and that a written decision will be mailed to me. The interview said she has not had time review my updated docs yet, and if everything is ok, I will receive decision and oath ceremony letter in 60 days. Then she led me out. Then that's it for the interview.

Then two days after the interview, it shows I-751 was approved, then later N-400 status shows in line for oath ceremony.

    Good luck to you all
  25. Thanks
