They actually mean orientation of the words and not the document itself. The want to be able to read the words horizontally from left-to-right and it has to be legible.  Same thing happened to me. The was the message I received on the CEAC site: "This document is not in the right-side up position. Please replace this with a scan which displays the words horizontally on the screen. "  But I don't blame you for putting it both ways, doesn't hurt, and each time you have to resubmit a document, you have to wait all over again!!! And if it's the wrong way and not legible enough to read, they will only send one message at a time. I was given the orientation message first, then when I decided not to rescan and just fix the orientation in Adobe and submit, they sent an error on that as well, even though I was able to read it. Scans in full color has been best.
