  1. My husband moved from Ghana to the US through K1 visa in feb 2022. We got married and filed our AOS in May 2022. I made a mistake and filed i130 even though we married within 90 days. It’s been over a year he has  not received his EAD.. we have been calling, expediting the EAD based on financial difficulty, but deny the case, we have asked to speak to a tier 2 officer still no answer.   We were then given an interview date on Aug 8th only for it to be cancelled and we wereesent a letter to confirm the cancellation.. so now that our EADd is out of processing term, what can be done about it ?  Thanks

Yes they will and have started requesting cases! I finally after being dq'd since 2/21/20 and sitting and waiting for an interview , I woke up this morning to an email from NVC, we finally got our interview appointment for 10-18! I am so excited, I can not stop yelling! Keep an eye out for your emails!

  3. So I keep asking myself if ever the Gh embassy will return to work. I have a friend whose wife just joined him from Sierra Leone, meaning their embassy is trying to work on the backlog, I don’t see that with Ghana embassy.., God please help us, I can’t imagine the years I have to wait for this K1 to be called then more years to get the green card… hmmm

    Hi Ama,

You also asked this question on one of my posts.

Yes, my K-1 expired long ago. I contacted both the NVC and embassy and they said that they are aware that many applications have expired but there is nothing more for us to do except wait. The NVC will send applications to the Ghana consulate once they start asking for them.

There was also a post on VJ stating that USCIS was letting K-1 visas expire as a way to reduce the backlog. I also talked to my senator staffer about this rumor and she felt that it was not true but she couldn't guarantee a 100%, but felt confident that that wouldn't happen.

It is just a waiting game for now with not much information on when things will start moving again from the NVC to Ghana.

Thanks for your response. At this point, I am even wondering if K1 was the best option because after all these wait game, it will also take years to adjust status in the US.. lord help us
