Anyone in London get an interview date yet? If you have how long did you have to wait after nvc accepted your case? And if you haven’t how long have you been waiting?

Hey, I waited 2 weeks after case complete by NVC. An interview date within a month of that! Got medical on the 1st April and interview on the 8th.

Word of advice while you're waiting though, if you're on the NHS go to your GP and ask them to print out your vaccination records and patient/care summary. See if your GP will stamp and sign that. Mine did. You'll also need 4x American passport photos. Time is suddenly flying and trying to get organised so get those done now, it'll make it easier for you x

He has gone for medicals in the past when he worked on ships and they were not that much but I wasn't sure if they medicals for the US/visa was that much more expensive?  I offered to send money.  But also kind of nervous about that too - are they checking his and my financials' and would that look bad like I am paying him?  I am just so stressed out and maybe over thinking everything, I just want the interview to go smoothly and get approved.

In term of the cost of medicals done for ships, I have also had to do medicals for working on boats. The medical for the US visa in the UK is over TRIPLE the cost of a ENG1 medical or medical to go work on a boat. The US have specific medical centres only (and correct me if I'm wrong everyone) but they don't allow you to source out your own physician. Im sorry your journey has been difficult so far but wishing you a speedy approval! Best wishes :)

  3. Hi everyone.

I had to resubmit some docs to the NVC due to them being unreadable. I did this yesterday morning just fine. But earlier I got an email from the NVC stating 'The National Visa Center (NVC) updated the status of your immigrant visa application.'

I logged on yet nothing has changed with my case. They haven't even reviewed my resubmitted documents, as far as I can see.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows what it means?

    Thanks

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm currently doing the documents and forms online for the NVC. I did the DS-260 by online form but its asking to SCAN in a copy of the form I-864? I was under the impression that this would be done electronically too however cannot find the electronic option only the 'upload document' option.

    Is this normal?

Thank you in advanced and congrats to those who have their visas already! See you on the other side

My husband only filed taxes in the US because he is a citizen but living with me abroad. Officially i am the only one working so we just submitted his tax transcripts.

Hi! We're in the same situation. My husband lives abroad with me and has for a year but hasn't been able to work in this country. Did you file with a sponsor or not? And were they happy with just the transcripts?

hello everyone.. I would like to ask who is still at Nebraska center waiting for approval?  I am March, and my March chat is very silent, just a few have been approved. I dont know whats going on... any news??

Hi, I hope that this gives you some hope! I'm March 9th and got approved 1st November from Nebraska. Still waiting for NVC to receive case. Hang in there, it's coming!!

  7. Hi Everyone,

Having seen that Nebraska is the slowest center out there and QUITE A FEW of you are getting your applications sent there (including myself), I was wondering who from the past have experienced their timeframe/process and if it was as it says... (soooo long). People who have just found out that their applications have been sent to Nebraska... Welcome :)  Lets keep each other updated!

Whether the baby will automatically be a USC or not will depend on your husband's cumulative physical presence in the USA. If he hasn't lived there for enough years, then the child will need an IR-2 visa to enter the country.

Being born in France to foreign parents does not grant French citizenship anymore (it used to, but not anymore). The child can apply for citizenship upon adulthood, if desired.

If you are British through birth and not by descent, then the child will also be British automatically. Citizenship can only be transferred by one generation so if you are British by descent then you cannot transfer citizenship to your children if they are born outside the U.K.

If you are also South African then the child is South African provided you register the birth under SA law (slightly different to the U.K. where the citizenship would be automatic).

If your husband also has an Italian passport then the child will be Italian automatically.

Not sure what the relevance of the place of conception is or why the need to mention it. It has nothing to do with citizenship.

Multiple nationalities are possible - I had three at birth. You might want to look into the obligations for nationals of each of the countries involved. For example, if the child is born in France and later wants to take French citizenship then he/she needs to be informed of the obligations of French nationals with regards to taxation, military service, voting, etc.

    Hi JFH,

I was only looking for information on the US Citizenship side for the baby as I'm currently applying for a I-130/CR-1 myself... and giving birth half way through. That's why I posted it specifically in the CR-1 forum.

That last paragraph of mine was just some 'fun facts' about our unborn child's connection to a lot of countries.

Additional information: my husband will have been outside the US for about a year by the time baby is born.

    Thank you for your reply

  9. Hi,

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and will be filing next week which means I will be giving birth OUTSIDE the US towards the end of our filing process but before NVC interview etc.

What does this mean for our child? Will we have to file an additional form once baby is born and wait a further year for process or will baby automatically be a US Citizen as he/she will be born to a US Citizen and my application will be in process?

This poor/lucky child was conceived in Finland, is going to be born to a South African/British mother and American/Italian Father who have spent their entire relationship travelling and now about to be born in the middle of an immigration process, most likely in France where my husband will be working haha.

  10. Both my husband and I met and worked on multiple yachts (which have their own registered addresses) as a chef/stewardess over the last 5 years and we are a little unsure whether to put them down as our 'address in the last 5 years.'

The confusion is that all our post and everything we have ever registered (banks, passports, licences etc) has always been at our home address in the UK for me and US for him. We have never received post or registered anything with the yacht address (Simply worked and slept on them 24/7 for years). We went home to our UK/US address every few months for a few weeks at a time.

We have put down our most recent yacht address as where we LIVED TOGETHER (2016/2017) as that is where we met and worked together and was going to use it as 'evidence of relationship.' Should I change this then or keep it?

Please help! Do we include the ALLLL the yacht addresses or not!

  11. Hi,

You're other option (if you don't have other commitments back in the US) is for you to get a UK Spouse Visa (apply for in the US) which can take 1-3 months to get and will then allow you to be in the UK for up to 2 years. This will allow you to be together while you both wait for your I-130 approval. This Visa will also allow you to send your I-130 to the USCIS in London which has a MUCH quicker processing time (under 90 days for I-130). I got all this information from the USCIS in London as I am in the same situation.

My husband is a US citizen and came here on a 6 month visa and would have to go through this same process so we could be together.

    Hope that helps a little.
