Name on Greencard an passport doesn't have to match. If she goes out of the country and re-enters the US with her Greencard in her married name, she should have her marriage certificate with her.

Hi! Thank you for your response. We will just be bringing our MC during our travels outside the US.

My wife has her Russian passport in her maiden name due to the hassle of changing it and she has no issues traveling with it when she goes to Russia or comes back to the US.  You will just have to make sure when purchasing any airline tickets when she will use her passport for check-in to make sure the ticket name matches the passport.  As to coming back to the US with a valid entry document (AP, GC, US Passport, etc.) that uses a different name, this was never a problem for my wife, but she did always keep a copy of the valid marriage certificate with her when traveling.

    Good Luck!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your wife's experiences when traveling outside the US it helped us understand more on what should we do.

Good question. In countries which are either homophobic or don't recognise same sex marriage it is very tricky (if you apply for a tourist visa in the future to visit those countries, this can be a problem as well). Usually the name on the GC and the Passport has to match. I would say leave it alone and she uses her original name?

Thank you! We are still thinking about what name should she use since she cannot change her last name on her Philippine passport.

  4. Hi I got question regarding my fiancee’s passport. Her passport will expire next yr june and we’re getting married next month under same sex marriage and she gonna use my last name for all her id’s here after marriage. And my question is how can she renew her passport using my last name? Since same sex is not granted yet in the Philippines. And one more question, If she can’t change her lastname in her passport, would that be a problem if she travels outside USA after she got her greencard with my lastname on it?

It is better to answer any and all questions truthfully when asked.....don't try to be creative, and don't over-think...

Thanks for the reply guys. She’s just scared that it will cause her problem but I told her you’ll be good cause allergy is normal.

I put an explanation in part 7 also.  I just put that the question is not really applicable for the K1 Fiance Visa, because we are getting married.  I won't be paying her specific monthly payments or anything.

And I got one last question. Part 3 item 17 and 21 what to put tho? I really appreciate your help☺️

For question 38, we checked "Intend".  Then in part 7, we put something like "N/A - Applying for K1 Fiance Visa".

Yes, you can list a second job in part 7.  Just include all of the same information (company name, address, position, dates).

I’m just confused cause some ppl put and explanation on part 7 tho. Thanks for your reply

Hope it’ll be fine. It is the proof of your citizenship after all whether you sign it or not. It might also depend on the officer. During my oath ceremony, we were allowed to take the certificate only after signing on it.

I hope it’s all good tho. Thanks for your time.
