Hi everyone, I paid the green card fee before entered USA with IR1 electronic visa (no package) in September, now I already have been lived in US for 1.5 months, I know it's still early to check green card status which is still showing payment received. But I heard that carrying the electronic visa would cause more delay. Anyone could share any experience?

    Thank you.

Welcome to the club  Im still waiting on the card

    fee paid on June 25th

poe:  July 4th  at JfK with  ccd (no package).

I’m also >90 days since POE and status is stuck at “case received, processing” since September 5th. I wonder if I should call now or wait until the 120 days.

    Hello all,

The visa on my passport will expire on December 12, so I will probably go to U.S. maybe December 1.

Anyways, I am wondering what are next steps after I arrive there. When do I get the green card? When do I get the SSN? Is my husband's employer able to give me health care insurance even I don't have SSN?

    Thanks all

Welcome, so now the ssn you need to visit  the nearest office  and apply for it with you passport and stamped visa is all you need there  after that you should receive it in few weeks maybe less, now the GC  is

taking more time in my case,  I've arrived on July 4th and had paid the fee on Jun 25th and so far no GC so  that's story until now good luck.

I just went to the California DMV with my husband to get his driver's license, we had all the necessary documents, or so we thought.  The person helping us looked at his Brazilian passport, and said that the stamp endorsing the CR-1 visa was "not an I-551 stamp" according to the very old policy manuals.  For a number of years now the visa itself has a statement near the bottom that reads "Upon Endorsement Serves as Temporary I-551 Evidencing Permanent Residency for 1 Year."  Meaning that a simple entry stamp at POE with the date and status (CR-1) and Alien number is the endorsement referred to on the visa.  I asked for a supervisor, so she went and spoke with her boss.  Then came back and looked on her computer some more.  In the end she said, "sorry, this stamp in the passport has to specifically say "processed for I-551.  I cannot give you a driver's license until you have this or a green card."  We drove to the Sacramento Airport to try and get a stamp that would satisfy this but could not speak with a CBP officer.  Our only option now is to try for an appointment at an USCIS office and get something that a California DMV might accept.  Or return to the same or different DMV and try to explain to them that the entry stamp is all that is needed to endorse the I-551 already stated on the visa.  Any suggestions anyone??  This is very frustrating to say the least....

Well it might  be regulation by each State, I've got my Driver license in New York  and I didn't have any issue showing them my visa saying I 551 valid for one year on the visa, they didn't ask nothing, they  just told me to wait because they had to check the visa which took 2 hours and that was it. Got the license 7 days later.

So my husband arrived in the US on a CR-1 visa on August 19th.  One reason we both agreed on the spousal visa over the K-1 was so that he could work right away after arrival.  In order to work he needs a Social Security number.  He checked the box on the DS-260 that we uploaded back in mid-April with an old address where we were going to live, but since then I bought a house and moved.  We gave the CBP officer at the POE (Miami) his new address in the US on August 19th and I also changed my mailing address online with USCIS, hoping that everything would be sent to the new address, green card and social security card.  The CBP officer recommended going to the nearest social security office within a few days to speed up the process of getting a social security card, so we did that on August 23, four days after POE.  The lady there said that she could not start the process in her office until 10 days after POE, and that if we filed a new application it would delay the issuance of the card because we had also checked the box on the DS-260 so a new application could confuse the system and cause a freeze for his number.  She said it would take three weeks after POE to get the card if we did nothing and just waited, and that if we came back and filed a new application ten days after POE it would be three or more weeks to get the number if there was no freeze.  So we left and decided to wait, disappointed that he would have to wait three weeks to work, obviously much less than what K-1 visa holders have to endure but still not able to work "right away."  Then on Monday, a pleasant surprise, his Social Security card arrived in the mail, only a week after POE!  So now he's looking at jobs and getting his resume ready to go.  Thankfully, it appears that our address correction was made in the USCIS system so hopefully his green card will arrive soon as well.

Just an update for others who may be going through a similar phase of their US immigration journey on a CR-1 or IR-1.  Good luck to you all!

    Great

I've got my SSN , seven days after I applied for it on July 5th, now I'm waiting on my GC to be mailed which is taking so  much time.

An update on medical and interview in Rio for anyone going through this soon.  My husband's interview was scheduled for June 12 in Rio for CR-1.  He started by setting the medical appointment and they set it for June 7 to allow for 5 days to send the results to the consulate after the exam.  They also asked for blood and urine tests before the medical so those were set for June 4, and an X-Ray for June 6, at labs near the doctor's office in Rio.  My husband registered the interview on the CASV website for Brazil as required, entered the preferred pick-up or shipping method for the visa and preferred mailing address, and also set the biometrics appointment for June 10.  He's traveling to Rio June 3 to be there June 3-13 to do all of this, and I'm flying down June 6 to be with him for the medical, biometrics, and interview on June 12--fittingly, Valentine's Day in Brazil!  We're hoping all goes well so that he can get the visa a few weeks after the interview, give his 40 day notice at work, take care of personal business before leaving, and fly to California in August.  I'll post an update after his interview on all of this after it happens in hopes that it will be useful to someone later.  Good luck everyone with your interviews!

HI my interview  will be on Jun 12th also good luck for us all everything  will be ok.
