  1. Hey everyone! Got an RFIE (after not hearing anything for ages) apparently they want me to redo my i864. Do you guys have tips on how you did yours/how you organized your file with what was included? I'm a bit confused with the w2, 1099 tax returns or tax transcripts etc. Thank you in advance!! And good luck to everyone getting their EAD's, this job search feels like another long wait

It means your expedition process has been completed and you’ll either receive a RFE if necessary or an approval. By the way, how did you do? Please explain a little bit your own story coz I also wanna expedite mine

Oh I think it'll be an RFE then. The reason i'm confused is because i didn't do much actually. I called and said i wanted to try expediting my EAD, they asked under what category i said financial loss and they said what can i prove for financial loss and that she would write down notes on my case i said maxed out credit cards, car loan payments and student loans as well as my husband only having a part time job. Then she gave me that ref number and said they'd get back to me within 5 days!

    Thank you!!!

though if we have to prove financial burden or loss, I don’t think there is any way to expedite because he is here based on my income (K1 visa) and my ability to support him, which I can, am, and do.

Sure would be good for him though. He’s bored as heck and feels he has no purpose:(

I know how he feels its terrible! I tried expediting but the place i went to interview didnt want to give the job offer letter and do it that way they just said to come back once i have everything. So i'm going to try just at a normal retail store maybe it'll be easier that way and i'll try expediting.

Does anyone here have any advice/tips/experience expediting their EAD?

If everyone contributes, this would be a great way of keeping a pulse as to how the various offices are processing the applications. One suggestion would be to include columns for RFIE notice received, response sent, and acknowledged.

I've updated our dates. I haven't updated this forum yet, but our interview is scheduled for 5/14 in the Chicago office. Updated chain of events:

    • Started preparing application packet    01/14/2018
    • Submitted applications via FedEx (I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-864, I-131)    02/06/2018
    • Applications received by USCIS    02/07/2018
    • Electronic NOA's received for I-130, I-485, and I-131    02/17/2018
    • Biometrics Appointment notice received for 03/06/2018    02/17/2018
    • Biometrics Completed (walk-in)    03/05/2018
    • Update to I-485 Application status on website: RFIE sent out    03/05/2018
    • Received RFIE for Birth Certificate    03/13/2018
    • Sent RFIE with new Birth Certificate    03/19/2018
    • USCIS received RFIE response    03/22/2018
    • USCIS acknowledged receipt of RFIE response on website (status update)    03/23/2018
    • USCIS acknowledged correction of name on website (status update)    03/24/2018
    • Courtesy Letter for I-693 Received    04/02/2018
    • Received email advising of I-485 status change to "Testing and Interview"    04/09/2018
    • Received interview letter for May 14th at 11:15 AM in Chicago USCIS office    04/14/2018

Congrats to you! Your case is moving so fast. Haven't heard anything about mine yet (I'm in Boston) not even a courtesy letter or anything. Bit worrying but oh well, patience is key.

    Just filled mine in!

Thanks, I missed a mail that was returned to the USCIS last week, probably due to the usual problem we've been having with our mail since our new neighbor moved in. But I called the USCIS Customer service and i was told they will work on it and get back to me. But they leave me a code for reference purpose and asked me to call after 30 days incase there is no response.

Was it your EAD? When did you file?

I can totally relate. There's a FB group for Texas filers and people from Oct 2016 are stilllllllllllll waiting for their interview since last September (after Harvey not many cases moved I guess).

I wanted to move to NC or IL, given they are processing within six months haha. But it's just a dream coz hubby and I both have jobs we don't want to lose :(...

Since Mar 8, my case didn't even move to "we reviewed bio" like other posts had.

Oh wow, where are you guys seeing all of this? I'd love to check out what's going on with Boston filing

I think it starts from the day you send the correct application. What date does your 797 Notice show for date revived? but if you sent it shortly  after, it shouldn’t be too long after.

Makes sense. My notice date was March 23rd. I originally filed everything on feb 1st but it took about 3 weeks for them to send my NOA's on that (and the request to refile EAD) and then after i refiled the EAD like 2-3 days later another 3 weeks to say they received it :crying: haha. Anyone know about expediting the EAD's? I've been wanting to try it since we're going through some financial hardship.

I also have the same update since April 4th as well.

I'm wondering if we're not going to get any RFIE's or courtesy letters. I'm pretty sure my medical form is old since I did it in the summer or something but I haven't gotten anything in the mail or any updates on my case on those. Do they send you case updates online when you're supposed to get any of these?

  10. 3 minutes ago, yilunhua said:

Hello guys, on April 4th my status changed from "we received your case" to "We reviewed your biometrics and are still processing your case". I couldn't find much information on the Internet about this message and its meaning. It seems to me a very unnecessary update but it doesn't seem a lot of people get this update neither so it makes me concerned if there are any problems on my case (like failed the FBI background check or something).

I am located in Los Angeles and here is my timeline:

    Feb 12  package sent

    Feb 21  App received

    Mar 13  Biometrics done

    Apr 4  Case status updated

I have that same update. Not on the original USCIS website since it hasn't updated but on myaccount.uscis

  11. I have a question! When i initially filed everything my EAD application was sent back to me (with a green paper on top) stating that i used an old form and to refile. I refiled shortly after, however I was wondering if i lost my place in line. Like would my EAD application still be in place with the rest of mine? Or did it technically restart from day 0? If anyone knows what i mean? Hard to explain kind of.

Good news folks.  Largely, I think I am an outlier on this forum, my AOS is based upon an approved I-140 (EB-1) but I received the notice that my EAD has been approved.  Application sent on Feb. 27 and received notice of approved EAD on April 5.  No word on my spouses EAD, hopefully a letter of approval arrives soon.

It must be because you were a different type of application! But congrats, so happy for you! :)

Well, a courtesy letter may mean that there weren’t any deficiencies during the initial processing of your documents and the USCIS may just be writing to remind about a document to bring at the interview.

    Thank you!

Lol don’t worry too much my friend.

However as it relates to courtesy letters of the medical I have no idea if we will or we won’t I asked the same question before but never got an answer  so I’d love to know myself but let’s keep our fingers cross let us know when you receive it

    Will do! Thanks

  14. 4 minutes ago, JayDGODITRUST said:

I just checked your timeline but realize you didn’t fill one out.  However It my be a courtesy letter stating the medical I -693 if you didn’t respond to one. But let’s hope it’s not a RFIE

I hope so. It freaked me out to be honest haha. Going to be stalking that mail truck.

So if we get a courtesy letter does that mean we won't be getting an RFIE?

    Thanks! :)
