  1. Has anyone had any experience with this? I am a bit worried that I will spend time going to the DMV for an appointment for my husband and we will be rejected because of documentation. Please let me know if you think we should be bringing anything else in addition.

Here is what we plan to bring:

Present an acceptable Identity document. PASSPORT WITH STAMP/I-94
Present an acceptable residency document. RENTAL AGREEMENT
Provide your social security number. SSN CARD
Provide your true full name. BIRTH CERTIFICATE
    - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
    - GREENCARD appointment notice
    - BIOMETRICS appointment notice
    - one of wife/usc PAYSTUBs

How did you get the answer after 6 weeks? by calling?

in our case, the guy said something about how he couldnt confirm my fiance in the system and it would take an extra two weeks-- so he predicted four weeks for us. It has been over 6 weeks now (including the holiday) so maybe next week? but we are going to call next week.

let me know if any of you have any additional insight.

On December 14, I filed an application for SSN, after 6 weeks I got the answer that I can't get SSN because I did not submit the relevant documents and my legal status will end soon. I submitted SS-5, I94, passport + K1 visa, marriage certificate.

On Monday I will go to the SSA to ask what's going on. I have printed the document RM 10211.530 and A-08-07-17044 (still valid?).

AoS is pending so I will take I-797 as well.

Do you have any tips on how to win with officials?

When you file the I-129f you only are required to send copies of your documents. The Embassy requires original copies, which you can attempt to ask for the original certificates to be returned to you, but be sure to have a copy to supply to the CO for their keeping. It's up to the CO if they require to maintain the original so my advise is to always get 2-3 original copies as you will need them once you arrive in the States.

Thanks so much! I am the USC, so I'm wondering if I will have to send him my original documents-- something I'm not feeling too keen on.

Hmm, to bad your not moving to the west coast. My company, mine, could use a tech  with chemistry-biology background. That is if you don't mind examining cadavers for suitable use in surgical training and medical research.  Any way, if your "foreign" degree from Italy was on my desk I'd consider it a bachelor degree, for whatever that's worth.

Same. I would easily interview you for my lab. I think people with your experience are in high demand, you just need to figure out where NYU, Columbia etc are posting their jobs.

Boiler probably meant “what does your institution require of applicants in the same position as your fiance/e”....

but again, every college has different rules, s/he first needs to figure out where to apply then see what they require.

I've spoken with 3-4 people at the university on the phone and it's actually somewhat unclear. the k1 visa allows the person fairly quick access to a greencard and the greencard would count as a resident. obviously its not a boiler plate answer, but this is why i was asking what i was asking-- to find out people's experiences.

Your partially correct. There are two numbers in addition to the others.

First, don't begin calling for 10 business days after you get your text message (NOA2). Second, you will need the Petitioner's and Beneficiaries full name and date of birth.

Call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 Be prepared for a wait. Tell the operator that you are requesting a case number for your K-1. They will ask for the receipt number located on the left top of your I-797 (NOA2) form. Then he/she will either tell you that they have not received your case or you will be asked for the names and date of birth. If they don't have the case, you will be told it can take 30 to 45 days for them to receive it and to wait however many days/weeks and call back. That's a pad answer so ignore it. You can call back the next day or as often as you want. NVC's hours are 7am to 12 am (midnight) eastern time. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays. Calling early at 7 am on the dot will get you in the fastest or calling late the lines to be open most often.

When you have your case number, enter it here https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.

Is the number on the i-797 (NOA2) the same as the USCIS receipt number?

we sent both of those letters in one from me one from her stating the same thing on both letters that we intent to marry

yes, then, I think you are correct in your assumption-- that name needed to be changed. These are considered formal legal documents right now so, a simple mistake of not changing the name is the type of stuff thats going to get the document sent back.

This should help you have an idea. But basically you are waiting to get your case number from NVC and the documents will come to your fiancee for her to fill.

God bless the sweetheart OG posters on this forum that are answering the same questions probably 2000 times a day. @Greenbaum and others.

Ok guys here’s my RFE. Intent to marry. I had sent this original letter wet signed by both of us and the only thing I can think of that is wrong is I put my name - the petitioner - instead of his name the beneficiary. On the RFE it’s asking for HIS intent to marry me. Even though I feel the letter I sent with his signature and name was intent enough. I called a Tier 2 and am waiting on a call back.

My understanding of this is that you needed a separate letter from each individual? that's how we did it any way.
