  1. Hi all,

My husband received his green card in June, and the "resident since" date is incorrect, so we have to file a Form I-90. The resident since date is the day of marriage back in October 2017, whereas we only had our interview this past May 2018 and received the green card the first week of June. We actually got married abroad and didn't even come back into the country until November and didn't start the application process until January!

Anyway, in filling out the I-90 form online, I am trying to determine what date I should use where it asks "On what date did you become a permanent resident"? Obviously the green card is incorrect, so do I use the date of our interview? Or the date that they mailed the welcome letter? Should I somehow include a cover letter explaining the time line?

Any insight would be much appreciated!

  2. Hey everyone! We received my husband's green card last Friday, June 8. my thoughts to you all: CHECK EVERYTHING ON THE CARD! They put "resident since" as the date of our wedding (last October!) and the expiration date 2 years from that. The "resident since" should be the date of the approval. Anyway, he called and was told he HAS to get this updated or we will have issues removing conditions / applying for citizenship in the future. Made an infopass appointment last night for this morning, and he got an I-551 stamp in his passport which is valid for one year. Now, we have to submit an I-90 and send back the card :( And he was told this could take A YEAR!!! So stupid and frustrating. But, at least he is now a valid LPR so guess I shouldn't be complaining too much. I just don't understand how they can make sooooooooooo many mistakes on these!

Omg, somebody from Philly office got interview scheduled?! Can't believe in it.

Our submitted date is February 6th and bio taken on March 6th. No notification yet ((( Getting crazy already sitting at home doing nothing :)

    Good luck, guys.

Please write back how was your interview, what questions they will ask, etc.

    Thanks!

Just an update - we got our interview notice yesterday (one week after the email) and we have an interview in the Philly office on May 29! Will update once it has been completed.

Awesome, great news! I'm glad you're familiar with the process :) It's just I've seen people get left upset when they've had to wait months when they get 'ready for interview', which of course is an entire different kettle of fish! :) Did yours go from 'ready for interview' to this yesterday? If so, how long did you wait for them to mail your interview date? :)

Thanks! Honestly, the updates have been so intermittent - its hard to get your hopes up. The online USCIS case status site never even updated after I responded to the RFIE, but i signed up for an account on the DHS site which said they had received my reply, so it's a bit all over the place! It never changed to ready for interview! I'll update once I get my notice - fingers crossed its in the mail as we speak!

'Ready to be scheduled for interview' or 'Interview date mailed'? There is a huge difference between the two. The first one means they may have sent you an interview date, or you might be waiting a long time depending on your local office processing times.

Thanks - "On april 19, we scheduled an interview for your I-485". and says an interview notice has been mailed. I should have mentioned that I am pretty familiar with the process, as I was an immigration paralegal years ago, before I met my husband!

  6. Hi all - haven't posted too much here, but was so excited yesterday to get an email that our interview is being scheduled!! We're hoping to get the date in the mail in the next few days. Our priority date was January 26, so definitely a lot quicker than expected! We received a RFIE for the I-864 on February 22 and our response was received March 6. We will be interviewing at the Philadelphia office.

The timing works well because my husband's H-1B expires at the end of August, so hopefully we will not even need to worry about the EAD if we get approved at the interview :)

    Best of luck to everyone!

  7. Thanks for responding Lindsay! I was so embarrassed as well, being that we went through those forms I swear 100 times before we sent them in! But I am glad to hear you also got the same, strange notice! We did not file together last year as we didn't get married until October 2017, and I didn't give any information about his salary, so who knows!!! Hopefully this doesn't slow down the process too much.

  8. Hey guys. We are applying for AOS for my husband who is currently here on H1B. We submitted all paperwork and it was received January 26. He had his biometrics appointment yesterday, and we also received an RFE in the mail yesterday regarding the I-864. There was one section I missed typing out my name, so we updated that, but the RFE mentions that the joint sponsor also needs to resubmit the I-864. We do not have a joint sponsor, as I make well over the limit and have for the last 5+ years. I have submitted all of my previous tax returns, a letter from my employer stating my salary, and 6 months of pay stubs. Has anyone else seen this? I am thinking of writing on the cover letter in response to the RFE that we are not applying with a joint sponsor and just hope for the best! Any advice?

  9. Hi all! We sent my husband's AOS package on Tuesday January 22, what a relief to get that out! We sent via Fed Ex express and just got notification from Fed Ex that the package was rejected ... now I am sick to my stomach! Looking through this forum I saw that some previously had success calling Fed Ex and asking them to indicate on the package that payment is enclosed, so we tried that but have not heard anything yet. Sigh. Hope to not be a February 2018 filer now.
