So the Oath Ceremony is done and you have your certificate in hand, long immigration journey finally complete and over!  Yay!
 
Or is it?
 
Well let's see...
 
After you have your certificate in hand, you likely will need to apply for a US passport, requiring an application, photos, photocopies, fees, and a several week wait.
 
Then after that (at least 10 days after the Oath Ceremony due to the SSA needing to verify through USCIS), you must go to the Social Security Administration to notify them of your new status.  This must be done in person, requires a form, the original naturalization certificate or US passport, and a likely long wait in the SSA waiting room.
 
Then after that (at least 24 hours after notifying the SSA due to the DMV needing to verify through the SSA), you must go to the state DMV to notify them of your new status.  More forms to fill out, more original documents to bring, and an all morning or all afternoon wait in their waiting room.
 
And that's not even counting the dual citizenship process...

Thanks! You'll probably hear soon. We are doing a concurrent I-751, which was filed in Sep 2016, and I had just got a notice last week that the I751 was transferred to the National Center in Missouri, then we got this notice today. 
 
For those of you who've gone in for interviews, what documents did you bring with you and what were you asked for? I've seen lots of people say they were asked about 2017 taxes so we're going to bring the transcripts for that, plus updates of joint bills and things, plus itinerary confirmations for the 2 international trips my husband took over the last year. Anything else?

Sorry guys, been so busy and have not posted here, so much has happened since my 400 interview. My 400 interview was on the 26th of March. I also had my 751 pending, my husband was critical ill and could not attend the possible 751 interview, so knowing that, I put up a packet of medical evidence and dr's letters to request an "expedited oath ceremony" which I was legally allowed to do so, I took it to the interview, my argument was based on humanitarian ground in a special circumstance based on the USCIS adjudication manual saying that if my husband and I were able to get married before DOMA and anti gay marriage and prop 8 in CA(Defense of Marriage Act which prevented LGBT people from getting federal benefits), we would have been able to get married a long time ago(been with my late husband for 21 years). I was trying to use that packet to see if I could get both approved and be sworn in at the interview so I could fulfill my husband's last wish to see me become a citizen, the packet was also created to attempt to have them waived the possible requirement of calling in my husband for 751 interview due to his serious illnesses. The officer was somehow sympathetic, but it did not work out like I was hoping to, he took my request, but a decision could not be made, he said he would talk to his supervisor because my husband wasn't there for 751 and they might reschedule the interview, so I stayed calm and told him my husband was dying basically, he said he understood it and I repeatedly stressed the urgency of it, I passed the interview, but 3 days later after the interview, my husband passed and my attempt did not work out, but I really tried, a month later, I got my 751 approved last Thursday which was my husband's first birthday after he passed, we celebrated, he would have been 90 years old, I believe it was a birthday gift from my husband in heaven, it would have been too much of a coincidence. He is watching over me for sure. However, according to 319(a) in INA. I am supposed to lose my eligibility, it says if a 400 applicant's American spouse dies before and or after the filing of 400, the applicant will lose his eligibility, so I have been expecting that, but I got a notification saying my oath has been mailed and scheduled, so I contacted the lawyer, she told me everyone 400 applicant will fill out form 445, and I will have to answer one of the questions on the form and check "widowed", then they will and should reject my eligibility before the oath unless USCIS did approve me and overrode the law, if that is the case, I need that in writing for self protection because there are doing a lot of de naturalizing these days, and I wouldn't want to be at risk of that. If I lose my eligibility as expected. I will re apply for 400 next August based on 5 year green card rule. I just need to make sure USCIS didn't make a mistake by approving my oath ceremony by making an info pass because I am supposed to have lost my eligibility, but at least my 751 is approved and my green card is on it's way. Whoops! Common typo error during the first quarter, should be 2017*, sorry for the unnecessary confusion. Anyways,  I wish I was from the future and if anything, I hope America would be better by then. One can only hope.

I hope the LA office and Seattle office move faster!  

It's exciting to see at least one of us Phoenix Lockbox folks moving forward from "In Line for Interview"! I'm at the LA filed office, but this is encouraging nonetheless. I'm really hoping we're not going to have to wait until late spring/early summer for the interviews. I'm just waiting to move so this is stressing me out. 

Finally an update for Phoenix, Arizona Lockbox filers. After waiting for 4 months, I went from In line to interview scheduled! I'm stoked, received an online status change last night. Waiting on the mail for the official interview letter. Hopefully the rest got their updates too, if not soon.

Got my oath ceremony scheduled for Feb 9 (next Friday)!
 
Quick backdrop: last week, after seeing some NY oath ceremonies being scheduled ahead of me, I took an advice I saw on a different NY-based thread here, and showed up to the USCIS building (26 Federal Plaza), without an infopass appointment, and asked to talk to a supervisor. After waiting around for about 1.5 hours, I finally got to talk to one, who said that my case is within normal processing times, and that they're currently in the process of scheduling oath for my batch of December interviewees. And that I should expect to have the oath ceremony for sometime in February. Lo and behold, yesterday I received an update to the ELIS system, and this morning an update to the online filer system that the oath ceremony has been scheduled and letter mailed. The PDF then showed up later today. Definitely clueless on whether me popping by the USCIS office did anything to jolt my case, or if it was just a happy coincidence (I'm guessing the former).
 
Anyway, the oath ceremony is scheduled for 8:30am @ Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn (which is conveniently just a 10 minute walk from my apartment).

Unfortunately, we just have to see how it plays out. I might have my interview in June or July, conservatively speaking.

Cool, San Diego field office is one month faster than mine. Hope I will get my interview soon too.
