    Wsalaam,

Copies of passport for petitioner and beneficiary and entry stamps ( we got engaged in Dubai where he was stationed to work and me and my family flew over with his fam and had a small ceremony), recent tax papers (for sponsorship a petitioner needs to be earning at least 16K, if pay is below 16K then you need a co-sponsor) with attached payments (if any ) made to the IRS, up to 3 paystubs, passport size photographs of beneficiary, birth certificate of the beneficiary, naturalization certificate ( I wasn't born in US), employment letter of the petitioner, and any bank statements that validate that the beneficiary will only be relying on the petitioner.

The naturalization certificate has to be original? Or a scanned and printed copy will suffice? And is the passport override the naturalization certificate?

  2. NVC has assigned a case number for our case as well!

    Just for others reference:

    NOA2 date was 4/12

    NVC received date was 5/3.

NVC case # assigned on 5/7.

So that is a total of 25 days to get a case # from NOA2. This application was processed electronically, it is already "IN TRANSIT" status the same day as case assigned. You can ask the representative to let you know if it is an electronic case or not. But it appears electronics cases now appear to process faster.

Hi, how did you get the notification when the NVC received your case?

Yes, I called like everyone said. No other notifications.

Question to everyone: Lady at NVC said my case was being processed electronically, and I always press option 5 when I call NVC. I saw some people mentioned this will take extra time due to new electronic filing system. Is there a realistic estimate to get a case # for electronic processing? Anyone else has had electronic filing?

    Hello ,

I am reading and trying to understand the process after NOA2 as much as possible.

I read through my embassy page for more precise dateline , need some help.

To my understanding Packet 3 is the letter we receive from our embassy stating what all forms need to be submitted and then you need to submit all these . What is packet 4 then?

I apologize upfront if my questions are dumb, but I am getting very confused.

Here is the official government website with step by step information on what to do (this one is for India): http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-visaapply.asp

This is the official website. You have to read it thoroughly or it might get confusing.

The latest date we saw that’s received is April 3rd at the moment.. so I would wait another week at least.

Makes sense, thanks for the response. By the way, you may or may not know this, but after getting the case number, is it essential to wait for the case status to say "Ready" before completing the DS-160 form? I noticed it varies from country to country. Our embassy is in Pakistan, Islamabad.

  6. Also waiting for NVC case # ... we were approved (noa2) April 13th. I called last week Friday 20th just in case and there was no updates. The rep told me to call this week Friday as well to check again. It sounded like he was trying to say "No need to call everyday".

But at this point he may be right, it's been 11 calendar days so far. What do you guys think? Based on realistic expectations, call or wait?

That part is at least in your control! You can do it.

This part is the most frustrating because we dont know anything.

What is "normal processing time" and what is considered "out of normal processing time"

    ####### is it!?!???

    Seriously

This has made me feel emotions from up and down the spectrum of emotions in seconds!!

You still haven't gotten approved yet? I have a strong feeling this week you will. Remaining cases for October have gone down considerably.

    Thanks for the info!

My recieved date is 10/12 and my submitted date is 10/16. They process cases based on receive date but obviously jump around alot.  I was curious to know if you were one of the two to get approved yesterday.

Yeah, I definitely got approved yesterday, and you will get yours too in a few days, hopefully Monday. The timeline trackers is pretty accurate, with a slight margin of error.
