I hope we receive it soon. I feel like they have a written script they follow. If you call before 6 weeks, it's "it can take up-to 6 weeks". If you pass the 6 week period, it's "It can take up-to 6 weeks to receive a case from USCIS and about another 2 weeks for us to make a case number". I am so frustrated

Mines says the same thing and my approved date was 10/26. I've just emailed them.

Let's hope some people get some NVC numbers today!! If you receive your number today please let us know!

So i tried calling the NVC this morning as it has become my routine and for the first time they ever I got a recording that they cannot take my call due to high volume. I am guessing that there are hundreds of people like us that have been stuck for some some reason...
 
My NOA2 approval date is October 26th.

What can I do right now besides just waiting?
 
How long does it usually take to get to the consulate? Will they contact me once they have it?

Actually one of them had their NoA2 got actually sent to NRC instead of NVC by mistake and the petition had to be reapproved (new NOA2) and hence was expedited to NVC. Only one other was the anomaly.

Actually I've seen two people here who had approval dates of 10/22 and 10/24 get their case numbers. Hopefully we are soon!

Finally some good news on our case.  Our NOA2 was approved 10/24/17.  After a couple weeks, I started calling NVC - always the same reply.  Your case hasn't been received from UCIS yet.  My fiancé emailed the consulate in Rio de Janeiro after 30-something days - they told him to contact them again after 42 days (6weeks) and they would inquire with the NVC and get better tracking on the case.  
 
Anyway, I kept calling NVC every day or two.  Last call was Tuesday, 11/28.  Still, the case was not received.  I didn't call yesterday.  
 
THIS MORNING, an email shows up in my inbox from the NVC stating that the case was received, number assigned, and case sent to the consulate all in one day in response to a request from the Rio consulate for expedited processing!   My fiancé went online and completed the DS-160 and filed it almost immediately.  Then he emailed the consulate, and they emailed back in half an hour and said that he would be able to schedule his interview in a day or two!  
 
I don't know what happened.  It seems too good to be true after so many weeks and months of waiting.  I hope it works out like they say, and I hope for smooth, fast transactions for the rest of all of you!

THAT'S MEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Finally!!!! My prayers have been answered! 

Noa2 10-24. Nvc received ours yesterday and gave me a case number and IV number 

I just called USCIS to ask whether or not my petition has been sent to NVC, and the tier 1 officer told me that they cannot access that info, and when I requested a tier 2 officer, he said the soonest I'd be called back is in 3-5 business days... how is that even possible. 
 
Did anyone receive a case number today? I haven't seen any updates from today.

Same here! i completely understand your frustration. When I filed May 4th I thought I would be with my bae by November ( Dec tops) and I think its out of the picture for me too unfortunately. It has been more than a week ( 8 days) since I sent my response and my status hasn't changed online to response received yet. Based on your dates, hopefully my status changes in the next few days. Your post was helpful. Thanks! Hang in there! I am with you! 
How many days has it been since you sent it in? I am waiting to and I think there is a delay because of the holidays. My package doesn't have a tracker thanks to my lawyer
 
If the status doesn't change by  Dec.1, I am going to express mail it asap and with the tracker this time. lol. 
I will hang in there another week too. Fingers crossed magic happens this week.

My fiance is Canadian and I live in Chicago, IL ( 8 hour drive/1 hour flight  commute) and we have been together for 3 years now seeing each other every 6 weeks or so. In all this time, the distance has never stressed me out as much as it has ever since I filed this application. Being apart seems just unbearable now and I am counting days. My best friends are either single or happily dating. The single ones don't get the anxiety because they are happy I have at least found my special someone as opposed to not having anyone. I'm either crazy or over-analyzing according to them. I had no idea about this site but after finding it, I feel like I am not so crazy.

Hello. Fortunately for me, the headquarters is located near my workplace so I stepped in there in-person and finished it off, I got the background check about 2 weeks later. My status never changed on USCIS for anything still shows case recieved. Did not know i was approved until hard copy in mail.
I called 17 days after i got hard copy and was given case n invoice number then, it never showed any change in status at NVC until it was sent to embassy 21 days later.
When you call NVC you need to be on the phone and even when you call for tier 2 at USCIS you need to be on phone unless you want a call back.

Holy there is a God, NVC received my case today, they just need to assign a case number

Not sure 100%. I gotta finish the ds-160. And I guess follow the steps you said. When I get out of work I’m going to research everything now that we have some progress
