  1. I'm so upset! We still havent had our AOS in person interview rescheduled. When we had our interview back in March, the interviewer was so rude and my husband couldn't understand her because she was speaking so fast. He asked her to slow down and she didn't. She got frustrated and just ended our interviewing saying he needs to come back with a translator. She wouldn't let me translate for him. She also said she would reschedule the interview but she never did! And we can't go online an request another appointment for the Chicago office! We waited a year for that interview!!!!

Now we've asked for a case update, we've called USCIS and told them for send us another interview appointment. We've even send a letter to the NYC office asking if we can transfer our case there since we will be moving later this year. No response! His work and travel parole expires in 3 months and he has to work to support our family! THIS SUCKS!

Has anyone gotten their green card from K1 yet? I honestly think it is going to take 2-3 years to finish this. We're already 14 months in!

  2. So we had our interview date scheduled for Jan 31st. Then about 2 weeks before that date, they cancelled our interview appointment! #######?!?!?! We got a letter just stated that they cancelled it and would contact us further if they needed anything.

SO NOW, we're just in limbo trying to see what happens. Maybe they will approve us w/o an interview since we're coming from a K-1 visa?!?!

I dunno. All I know is this EAD/AP card expires in 5 months! ERRRRR!!!!

FYI, they don't provide the tracking number. The card is sent out via Priority Mail and it will be delivered to your mailbox. No signature is required at delivery either. I just received my card yesterday though Informed Delivery said it would be delivered on Monday. Guess my post office sorted mails quickly and my mail carrier managed to add it to his run yesterday :)

Not true! We have informed delivery and at the bottom of our email, it shows a tracking number for my husband's EAD/Travel Auth card!

Hi everyone, it has been 167 days since I applied for i-130 &  i-485, also 145 days for work permit but I have no letters or updates on USCIS website about any of my cases. They are all the same saying " Case Was Received"....... I have no updates about my EAD card either.Im just so frustrated.I see so many people getting updates about their cases like " ready to be scheduled for interview" but I have nothing like that going on.I have no energy or desire to reach out a congressman or whatever. Is there anyone who has a similar timeline and got no updates about their cases like myself? i am just so lost...Sorry for being so negative but I am just so sick of being stuck at home and not being able to work or drive. It is also really stressing me out that I dont know what is going on with any of my cases.More than 5 months and no letters or updates..Absolutely NOTHING :( Please share your timelines or experiences with me...Thank you and good luck to you all...

PS. I am from Detroit, MI and my service center is NBC

We were in the same boat except for that our AOS says it's been ready to be scheduled for interview since 3 weeks ago! #######!!!! ERRRR.

BUT today I got an email saying they were going to mail out the SS card A.K.A. work authorization i-785! Yay!

Our service center is MSC (Missouri Service Center) and we're in the Chi! Ayeeeee! lol.

***IRONICALLY THOUGH*** since it's supposed to take 90 days to receive your SS card, and it was over that time frame, we sent a letter requesting an expedite for the I-785 (ss card) and I-131 (travel doc) saying we needed to work because we need to replace our roof ($14k!!!! Je-SUS) and his father in law is really sick. Like gunna die soon sick. Then BOOM a week later, they update our case today saying they will send out our SS card. Hmmmm....

We didn't wanna contact our congressman/woman either so we had scheduled an appointment at the USCIC Chicago office for an expediate on our case in person, and they didn't do a DAMN thing. Just told us to write a letter to our USCIS office that had our petition...so we did and boom, one week later, an update.

Try it. See if it works for you. Minimal effort my dear!

  5. Hey everyone. Just sharing some info if you're a K-1 filer (especially if you're from Cuba, Guyana, or Columbia). We got granted our K-1 visa as Cuba filers this January and created a blog documenting the WHOLE process with some free docs on:

    1. How to file your K-1 petition

    2. How to prepare for your K-1 visa interview in Columbia & Guyana

    3. How to file your AOS documents after you marry

We legit just created the blog out of frustration  since in the middle of our K-1 process because the U.S. government CLOSED DOWN the U.S. Embassy Havana for ALL visa processing. Like....yeah..what timing. You can read more on that here.

Anyways, good luck and I hope this helps someone! Hang in there. Patience is the name of the game. You CAN do this. You're not alone here. :)

Ive seen cases around here and friends from facebook that it took 9 months-1 year to get it scheduled. But I've also seen cases that were faster.. anyway, better than no change on our status I guess lol

after mailman comes I run to the mailbox everyday and always get disappointed lol

YEAH me too! LOL. Hang in there. It's always a waiting game with immigration!

Everyone on this forum should be adjusting from a K1!

Did you check processing times for your field office?

Some people are adjusting for other reasons and yep sure did. Luckily we live in Chicago and have an appointment next week to go down there and see what's the hold up! We haven't even gotten our interview date. We finished our biometrics back in April. *shrugs*

You have to go to the nearest social security office and you take the application that u print from online and you file it its ssn application and you take ur passport and ur i94 . Thats it and you tell the officer that you came as a k1 visa and you want ur social.  He will ask some questions and take the documents copies and will give u a recipe after that you will get ur social in a week by mail .

They totally just DENIED us because his I-94 form expired. He's been here in the U.S. for 6 months. It expired @ month 4. Now we have to either:

    1. Get immigration to issue an updated i-94 FORM (unlikely but we'll try or)

    2. Wait for the EAD (work authorization) card, and bring that to the SS office.

But thank you for this info though!

REALLY?!?!? What paperwork did you file to get your SSN card? We filed the i-765 and i-131 form with our AOS i-485 form and we've gotten nothing! Tell me your secrets! LOL.

Hii guys today i got my green card in the mail . I wish the same for all of you as fast as possible.  Finaly this nightmare is done 😍😍

OMG so jealous but super happy for you! I'm a K1 too and I applied Mid March and STILL waiting for our interview!!!! insane.

How long was your timeline from your interview to getting your green card?

Also, do you get the SSN card too at the same time?

  12. Hey everyone,

So we got our K-1 visa approved back in January of this year and we went through so much DRAMA that we created a blog to help others.

    https://chicagomeetshavana.com

We wrote some helpful articles on visas, love, and travel that you may find helpful.

We already created a visa support group for people in the visa process on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/chicagomeetshavanavisatribe

The support group has be super helpful since people are able to ask questions in a safe, space area and also share their approvals (exciting times!).

Anyways, these immigration processes are NOT easy and are HELLA stressful. Just wanted to let ya'll know you're not alone in this. You can do this!

Also, we're in the process of AOS (Adjustment of Status a.k.a. green card application), and it sucks....more waiting...WAAAAAY more money spent.

If you're wondering about that process since it's up next after the K1, we have a FREE document if you want to submit all the paperwork yourself without paying a lawyer a redic amount of money. Just type on "aos" to our Facebook Messenger bot and you'll get the download for free. https://m.me/chicagomeetshavana

We don't get paid from our blog or anything. We seriously just created it out of utter frustration and to help others. Let's stick together because this process is not easy AT ALL.

    Sincerely,

    ~Ari

  13. YEAAAAA! SO glad to finally be here! (I promise, I'm crazy...lol)

So we put in my Cuban husband's AOS in about mid-March and we got out NOA1 about 1 week ago and just got his biometrics appointment letter this week!

    WOW THIS IS FAST!

But maybe it's going fast because we started as a K-1 visa couple? (That was SUPER hell for Cuban applicants BTW. We had to go to BOGOTA, COLUMBIA for the K-1 visa interview. Bogota is REALLY cool btw. Had a great time there! Nothing like the drug movies. LBVS.)

Any Cuban K-1 couples in the forum? Super curious. Also, did any other K-1 couples have a HELL OF A TIME getting their K-1, or was it just us? LOL.

Anyways, I'm super excited to finally be here. Green card bound ya'll!

OH PLEASE. You are NOT the only couple so far to have got the K1 visa in Bogota. MANY MANY have, including myself and several others not on VJ or Facebook.

Honestly didn't know that. Congrats to you then!

Pretty sure you are tired of questions so i really thank you..i have searched n dont find anything.. i just told my husband to go to the embassy n find out as much info as he can for me to post and help others with the same concern as myself... in regards to getting the colombian visa, do they have to open a bank account in cuba? If so, how much do they need on the account? Thanks

No worries. That's what I'm here for! Helping others.

I don't believe so. My fiance used my U.S bank statement which had roughly $1800 at that time and a letter saying that I am financially responsible for him which I signed and dated.

My future fiance had her embassy interview yesterday and they told her that they needed to have the original copy of my divorce from my previous relationship. Embassy personnel told her get the document and follow the instructions and send it back to us with the passport included. Is that a good sign ? She was never told it was denied or approved. Any comments would be great.

How long did it take you from visa approval (interview approved) and getting the actual visa? And is it faster to pick it up or have it delivered via DHL in Bogota?

We're traveling to Bogota for our K-1 interview but we're only able to stay for a week. And there's new years holiday inbetween our stay. Trying to get the visa a.s.a.p.!
