Your sister can apply for a tourist visa.  It may be hard for her to get one since you said you would need to take care of her.  She will be to show ties to her home country.  If she doesn't work or have property, it may be hard for her to get a visa.

She has her own bank account with savings. I guess that doesn't value much.

If she can't live on her own, she would probably be deny an immigrant visa for likely to be a public charge.  Even though Biden has gotten rid of Trump's DS-5540, the old public charge standard still exists.

What about a tourist visa for 10 years? Is this an option? At least they would be able to visit me more often until I have to go back.

  3. Hello everyone,

I am considering sponsoring my mother and sister to come live with me in the US. I am a citizen. I work all the time and I can't travel to see them very often. We hate the distance and I need them to be with me, mostly my blind sister, for obvious reasons.  I am reading horror stories online, about petitions for siblings being denied.

Is this something feasible that I can pursue? If this doesn't work out, I will have to move back overseas and take care of my family.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi everyone!

I have a silly question, but better safe than sorry.

I applied for Naturalization on January 11th 2021, have an interview scheduled for April 15th, 2021.

I have been getting ready for the 2008 civic test because I believe I can choose, according to the USCIS website. I just want to make sure I am getting ready for the correct test.

I tried calling the 800 number but no way to get a person on the line.

If someone can confirm so I can be at ease, would be gladly appreciated 😀

  5. Hi everyone!

I applied online for Citizenship beginning of January. I have planned a trip home because my mom hasn't been feeling so well, my flight is March 14th.

Today I checked my USCIS account and I got an update that yesterday, they scheduled me for an interview.

I don't know the date yet, will they upload the notice online, like they did with the other notices, or do I have to wait for the letter? Can I call them to find out the date before the letter arrives?

    Thanks!

    Hi everyone!

    I have filled N-400 January 11, 2021* . I received a Biometric Reuse Notice dated January 24, 2021

My mother is not feeling well and I have to travel and go take care of her.

Is it safe to travel now? I don't assume I will get any other notices on my case any time soon. I am traveling, regardless of the consequences, but would love some insight.

    Thank you!

Happy Valentines Day, you love bugs!

Yes, you can travel. Did you file 2020 or 2021? Even if you receive a notice for interview whilst you are away, you can have it rescheduled.

You will obviously need to declare this trip when you go to your interview as it would not have been included in your original N-400.

Yes, I have filled in 2021, I should have mentioned. Thank you!

Do you have a lease agreement or something similar? "the duration of an alien's residence in a particular location is measured from the moment the alien first establishes residence in that location."

Yes, thus earliest is January 8: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-early-filing-calculator

Thanks for the reply! I don't have a lease agreement. I work on a ranch in Montana and my job comes with free housing. I do have hiring papers which state the fact that my employer provides housing for me.

  10. Hi everyone!

I have a few questions about Naturalization, hoping to find some answers here because the USCIS new call service did not allow me to talk to a person.

    I have become a resident on 04/08/2016.

I am supposed to wait 5 years before I can apply for Citizenship so that equals 04/08/2021. According to USCIS, there is a possibility to fill in 90 days earlier, which means I can apply on January 9th 2021. Is that correct?

Now, correct me if I am wrong, I remember reading somewhere on USCIS that a person who applies for Naturalization should maintain a 90 day residence in the state they are applying from? In this case, I moved from Arizona to Montana in July, but because of COVID, DMV was so overbooked and my job not giving me days off,  I couldn't get an ID until 10/22/2020. The DMV clerk told me that residency starts when you get your first bank statement at the new address, which I got a letter from Wells Fargo on the 5th of Oct ( not a statement, just a customized summary of my visit, does that count?).

Am I good to apply January 9 or should I wait until February, just to be safe? Times are hard now, wouldn't really want to throw $725 out of the window.

Thank you everyone for the great help you provide!

    Happy New Year!

Everyday when I check in this room and read all ppl comments. Everyday see more ppl got approved almost from CSC. VSC seem like nobody have any news. Its make me jealous sometimes and wish my case were in CSC Lol

Ivan, don't be jealous,  I am a California filer also and my filling date is January 11, even earlier than most of these people getting approved here, and I haven't heard anything yet from anyone. It's pretty annoying because their processing makes no sense, no order whatsoever. I still think I am going to get approved sometimes in May.

We are getting approved, I think you need to recalculate your projection/predictions.

I do agree with this gentleman's predictions. Even though some people started getting approved,  which is amazing,  I, myself, don't expect to get approved until May-June. I mean, realistically, my case status never changed, no mails, no biometric appointment, nothing.

I am not even able to check my case status anymore.

The old website https://egov.uscis.gov/ just says: "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 for additional information."

The new myUSCIS website won't let me add my case number and just says: "There was an error syncing your case. Try again in a few minutes."

Anyone else in the same boat?

Hi, mine says the same on the old site, the new site just says "case received ". I called Uscis a few days ago regarding this issue and I was told that all is fine but to call back if the message doesn't change in 30-40 days. Just sharing what I was told.

  14. Congratulations to all the people that got approved!

I am also a January filer (CSC).

I called USCIS a couple of days ago, regarding my case status. It still says " At this time, we cannot give you any info..". I told them that I know and understand that USCIS is very back logged right now, but just wondering if everything is OK with my case, since it has been displaying this message for about a year now. The lady told me that everything is fine but if the message doesn't change in 30-40 days, to give them another call.

I thought I'd share this piece of information with you.

I also believe that some of us won't hear anything back until summer. Just trying to be realistic and not have hopes up.

Good luck to everyone on their long journey!

  15. Hello!

I filled my I751 in January and yesterday I got in the mail Notice of Action I 757C which says:

"US Citizenship and Immigration  Services ( USCIS) has received your form and is currently processing your application,  petition or request. This notice informs you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometrics data as in the past, however,  it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center for a biometric appointment. The biometric fee will not be refunded."

Just want to make sure that I don't need to go for an appointment.

Anyone else got a notice like this?

    Thanks
