  1. CHURIPU - GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!!

all time good advice - keep it simple and don't go into long explanations until IO specifically asks you. be confident and smile :star:

I hope for you it can happen...but $675 is a lot of money to risk on not being right. Good luck!

Thank you! I know 675 is a lot of money, but I'd want to bring my mother here and for chance of doing it i think it's worth risking the fee. and did read those eligibility documents many times, it's all tricky, seems like between 6 and 12 month it's all up to IO to decide, but abandonment of residency is generally when person gets a job or new family outside of US and stops paying US taxes or maintaining property in US. and i got my permanent green card AFTER all the absence, so I have grounds to hope that I am also eligible for citizenship.

as to 18 month requirement - one can apply 3 month before the minimum 18 months acquired. so by the time of interview (possibly in the end of summer 2008) i will have 27 months of residency vs 8.5 + 10.5 out, plus all the taxes, property, accounts, family and career ties, so logically I do qualify for citizenship, but it's all up to being lucky and getting nice officer. and I am thinking of hiring a lawyer to go with me to interview.

  2. Congrats on good news! seems like 460 thousand cases with July PD are coming towards end

    http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthrea...4829&page=3

Anything beyond 6 mos at a time is considered abandonment of permanent residency and you will have to wait to recomplete a straight 3 years again with trips of less than 6 months.

  3. Annatenna and LovelyTena! I am sorry about what happened, just hang on and don't let USCIS affect rest of your life! Try to stay positive and happy and love your families and life - despite whatever happens! Everything is gonna be alright!

LovelyTena, I was out of country for 8+11 months -that's exactly half of required 3 years, I still qualify cuz i paid taxes, had property and bank accounts and family ties in US, i am thinking to get a lawyer to go to interview with me if I find one that i can afford.

USCIS is very illogical place, and if you are truly eligible and legal, then you will prove yourself eventually right and get what you deserve, but in my case i want to bring my mother here, she has nobody in world except me, so I would be very disappointed and hurt if i had to reappeal for another half year or wait another 3 years to re-appply.

  4. My question is - are there any July filers of Los Angeles who received Interview Letter in January-February-March 2008?

last ones i've seen online were received January 18, 2007 (for PD May 23-26)

We just received our interview date today!

    priority date: 07/25/07

    Interview date: June 20, 2008

thank you for sharing and CONGRATS!! keep us posted! i quoted you here: http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthrea...560&page=41

    what address does it give?

  5. just want to add a note here:

    Jan 15 Baltimore, MD reported 05/02/2007 ,

    feb 15th - 05/08/2007,

    mar 15 - 05/31/2007

right now they have sent ILs to July 20s,

so probably the previous "slow" dates could have been also OATH based??

    hello Feliz,

Its seems you are very well informed on this issue.I am a newbie here and a little confused.

What does the processing dates published on the USCIS site means.

1.What is processing date and what is priority date?

2.If they are different, how are they?...

3.For example,my office is Portland,OR which the date says to be June 30th 2007..what does this date means?...

can someone clarify me a bit?...

    Thanks

Well, the whole point of this post is that no one knows exactly what's going on, but in very general terms ...

1-2. Priority date is on your NOA-1, it's usually the date your application was received by NOS. Processing date means they're processing applications with a priority date before that date.

    3. So Portland is processing applications with a priority date before June 30. So if you filed your N-400, before June 30, you should be interviewed soon if you haven't already. On the other hand, if you filed after June 30, you have a while to wait.

But no one knows exactly what "processing" means--does it mean that the file is on someone's desk, that someone is actually working on it, that an interview is scheduled or has been done, that the applicant has been sworn in...? So there's no way to answer your question exactly.

1-2 before march 15, i was sure that processing date means - SCHEDULING INTERVIEW and sending interview letters

now I think some offices use Oath dates, like Los Angeles and other "late" onse

3- check with other Portlanders here: http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=257106 or may be they have newer thread somewere

but i would say it's interview scheduling

  6. here is clarifying opinion from same page

i guess only LA could be using oath dates:

Thanks for posting the complete list of dates, FelizLA.

The numbers below represent the progression or retrogression, in days, of priority dates from the Feb 15 update to the March 15 update. They are in their February chronological order, since the March update is more suspect.

As in the past, there appear to be at least two standards being applied: a standardized target-based criterion for most DOs (July 20 and June 30), and variable dates for DOs that fall outside those targets (presumably based on PD). The retrogression we're seeing in the new update seems to affect both groups quite differently.

The following had standardized dates in both updates, and uniformly retrogressed 20 days. (The exception is Des Moines, which had been at 9/1/07, but has joined the main group of DOs).

    Des Moines IA -63

    Agana GU -20

    Albany NY -20

    Albuquerque NM -20

    Buffalo NY -20

    Charleston WV -20

    Chicago IL -20

    Chula Vista CA -20

    Cincinnati OH -20

    Cleveland OH -20

    Columbus OH -20

    Dallas TX -20

    Detroit MI -20

    El Paso TX -20

    Fort Smith AR -20

    Fresno CA -20

    Greer SC -20

    Harlingen TX -20

    Honolulu HI -20

    Houston TX -20

    Indianapolis IN -20

    Jacksonville FL -20

    Kansas City MO -20

    Louisville KY -20

    Milwaukee WI -20

    New York City NY -20

    Omaha NE -20

    Pittsburgh PA -20

    Portland ME -20

    Reno NV -20

    Rochester NY -20

    Sacramento CA -20

    Salt Lake City UT -20

    San Antonio TX -20

    San Bernardino CA -20

    San Diego CA -20

    San Francisco CA -20

    Santa Ana CA -20

    Spokane WA -20

    Syracuse NY -20

    Wichita KS -20

    Yakima WA -20

The following all posted dates prior to July 20 in the February update, but still fell within July. They all joined the June 30 group for the March update. Note that these dates all retrogress.

    Saint Albans VT -15

    Anchorage AK -13

    Oklahoma City OK -11

    Casper WY -9

    Denver CO -9

    Saint Paul MN -8

    Charlotte Amalie VI -7

    Portland OR -7

The remaining dates were all June or earlier in the February update, and did not have standardized processing estimates. In the March update, a few of these have joined the June 30 group, but most of them still have variable dates rather than standardized ones. More interesting, all of them have crept ahead instead of retrogressing (suggesting again that this is the only group that is tracking actual PDs). The BIG exception to this is Los Angeles, which retrogressed more than any other DO. Speculation is that they're basing the processing estimate on time from PD to oath, but for the great majority of DOs no conclusion can be drawn from this.

    Los Angeles CA -80

    San Juan PR 14

    Boise ID 8

    West Palm Beach FL 7

    Manchester NH 0

    Atlanta GA 10

    Providence RI 10

    Newark NJ 12

    Las Vegas NV 5

    Seattle WA 18

    Helena MT 0

    Phoenix AZ 8

    Saint Louis MO 32

    Cherry Hill NJ 30

    Tampa FL 31

    Boston MA 25

    Christiansted VI 43

    Tucson AZ 8

    Miami FL 5

    Baltimore MD 23

    Charlotte NC 17

    San Jose CA 14

    Memphis TN 23

    Dover DE 25

    Philadelphia PA 30

    New Orleans LA 32

    Norfolk VA 0

    Charleston SC 47

    Hartford CT 92

    Orlando FL 136

    Washington DC 24

  7. UPDATE:

At last, I've finally received my N-400: Interview Letter today, 03/27. My Interview date will be on May 20, 2008. Whoohoo!

COngrats!! so you most likely will vote in November, huh?

could you add your timeline no your signature here? and to the other forum too - i'm sure fellow Philly filer will appreciate

  8. 1) My NOA1 said 180 days...

    2) Do you know how you find out whether your name check has been cleared at FBI???

    3) After I got fingerprinted, the next time I will hear from them is a letter to the interview? is that it? or do they send some other notices in between fingerprint and interview time???

4)Is there any way to find out the status besides all they say is "in process", could they give me more solid answers, eg. next step is background check, your file has sent to DO, etc... that'd help more.

    1) add 180 days to date of NOA letter - and you theoretically can start complaining to USCIS then

    2) there used to be a way to call FBI, but they dont take calls anymore, but you better not bug FBI unless you know that people with PD later then yours are getting interview letters from your local office

    3) yes after fingerprints you wait for interview letter

    4) the only guaranteed way - is INFOPASS as i said, you can make them as many as you want, but it only makes sense to worry if your PD is coming up in your local office, until then it will be just waiting in line like everybody else.

  9. verify your DO by your zip code:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of....office_type=LO

    Select you DO here:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp

on example of Los Angeles: it went back 2,5 months- from June 30,07 reported on Feb 15, 08 to APRIL 11, 07, reported on March 15

hopefully the reason is that USCIS was forced to use actual oath dates instead of interview dates like before,

there were only 2 oath days in March for LA - March 6 for 75 people and March 20 for 1 200 people, and the person who had actual oath on March 20 has priority date April 7, 07

  10. Mailed N400: Middle of December, 2007

I filed at NSC, I wonder anyone filed around my timeframe?? Any prediction as to when my interview will be?

Your individual timeline depends on your Local Office, you can find answers if you follow links in this FAQ: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1658899

    Thanks for your respond~

I called CIS today and talked to an immigration officer, she said my case would take about 6 months to process, when I asked her if my name has cleared in FBI, she said she doesn't know, and that because of the "privacy act", it doesn't show on the computer, or something like that... she said call back if i don't get any letters after 6 months... so it's not helping a lot... i sure have asked if she's sure it'll only take 6 months VS the 14-16 months showed on the official site... so how can i find out if i have pass the background check???

if it was first person to answer phone - it's not officer, she has same info as we see online, and they give generic answers.

to speak to officer - guaranteed way - is to make INFOPASS, but don't make it untill other people with PD after yours start getting interview letters.

nobody will guarantee you any date, the only set promise can be your NOA1 - how many days does it say?
