  1. That's good to know. We will see what happens with our case. I think it'll just delay it if anything even though I'd love they decided to finally send us an interview date. My next question is, how soon do we need to start applying for the EAD/ AP renewal? Realistically, we'd at least have an interview date before a new EAD/ AP is needed but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Any thoughts?

Sorry to disappoint, but moving from Manhattan to Queens means your applications moves... up from floor 7 to floor 9 in the Federal Plaza building (if it's even reached that location yet; might still be in Chicago waiting). :P All Manhattan, Kings, Queens, Richmond and some additional zips are processed at the plaza. If they have separate lines based on borough - maybe, who knows, but at least on the USCIS website their processing times are calculated together.

Moving out to NJ is the real deal though, they are much, much faster than they are in the city.

Way to put on damper on things Liz! haha, its ok. We've come this far, what's a few more months

Haha yes! I was SO surprised when I got my interview notice so quickly, I was convinced I was in trouble or something! But then the interview happened, and walking out, I got a notification that my new card was being produced! I didn't have to wait long to get seen, and there didn't seem to be a lot of other couples on my floor either (it's split by borough) so maybe it really is that Queens is just the fastest moving office right now.

Can you give us some insight to your interview? What did you bring? What did they ask? etc... inquiring minds want to know, haha!

Hey - I would be very careful about changing the address while still in the process. During my ROC application, I did that (because I was using my Lawyer's address and he passed away) and I got a confirmation letter at the new address that they received it and in fact changed the address. Guess where they sent my green card? THE LAWYER'S OFFICE.

Oh lord, the thing is we have no choice. We are leaving our UES apartment but will put a letter in with the post office to forward our mail, which they do a decent job at (as much as the USPS can do a decent job at anything).

  5. Hey,

I just found this group... thankfully. We filed my husband's AOS at the end of May of 2018, we got the EAD/ AP September and still no word on the GC appointment. We live on the Upper East Side so I'm guessing our office is in Manhattan. We are moving to LIC for a few months and then hopefully buying a house in NJ. So I will be filing for a change of address and hopefully getting the case moved over to the queens office. Is there anyone else here from the LIC/ Queens area?

I did not request for an SSN in the initial AOS application since I like to keep things separate, just-in-case.

After I got my EAD card I went to SSA the next morning to apply for an SSN. I'm now waiting for the card to come in the mail (I was told it normally takes about 2 weeks).

    Hope that helps!

Yes, it does! what documents did you need to bring?

It took 2 days for me. After 2 days the status changed from "new card being produced" to "the card was mailed".   I got a combo card today and it still doesn't show any update for AP only updates for EAD

wow! that's incredible. Quick question, do they send your SS card also? or do we need to do that separately?

I requested they issue a SS card when we sent in the application.

Correct. I only ever got status updates for my EAD. My AP case still shows "Case was received".

I got my EAD combo card in the mail earlier this week (which will show that it also serves as an Advance Parole).

yesssss! that's awesome!! Our NOA1 was 5/24 and we just got the "new card is being produced" update for the Employment Authorization but the status for the AP remained the same. So that's good to know, thank you!

Mine took just under 2 weeks from card production to getting the card in the mail.

If you applied EAD and AP together, it would arrive as a combo card.

Not sure if just a standalone AP (without EAD) maybe someone can shed some light on this?

It's a combo card and they're approved together even if it doesn't show an update under the advanced parole case? (only the employment authorization)

  10. Hey!

We finally got a notification that our applications (I-485, I-765, I-131) were received on 5/24 and the fingerprint fee for the i -485 was accepted on 6/8. So now we'll wait for the I-797s in the mail.

I'm curious about the biometrics appt, do they assign you a time or do you choose when you would like to go? If they choose for you, do they send you an email or regular mail?

What's the next step after that? and relatively how long until the next step?

    thank you!
