what questions from the civics and english test the officer asked you

how long were you there

do they approve you on the spot?

how is the ceremony of oath?

As others have said you got sent to secondary and that happens. But I think your real question was about what the officer said to you/how she treated you. She was just giving you a hard time. I dont know why. It happens. Maybe you'll get a nice officer next time or another mean one. Theres nothing wrong with your status and the letter is valid until it says so.

Thank you . I understand that they can stop anybody even US citizen i just got a little bit concerned because  she said my letter wasn't good anymore because my GC was expired since FEB 4th.

They can send you for further screening.  There's nothing you can do about it.  It might have been an oversight on the initial officers reading of your documents or perhaps they were not familiar with something else.  Accidents/mistakes happen.   Get over it.  You were allowed entry back into the country, correct?  Move on with your life.

I'm sure moving on with my life sir but I have an upcoming trip and I wanted to know if someone here experienced something similar. why some people have to be so rude on this web site . if you are in a bad mood just let other nice members answer my question. Thanks

I was flying from DR to U.S. so as my first port of entry to USA I have to go through customs the officer told me that she will send for additional checkup because my green card expired long time ago Feb 4th. Even I show her the later she kept saying that they were taking too long with my case. My question for how long can I use my extension letter I thought since it's a year I'm still good ? The letter will expire 02/04/19 I'm planning to fly to DR in Dec coming back on January 2nd I wanna make sure I will be ok to enter to the country without any problems. The officer made me doubt about if the letter is really effective for one year

In you case,  9 months after 02/04/18, you are eligible to apply for citizenship.

According to the immigration lawyer, USCIS may adjudicate both cases on the same date.  

So yes , it's possible and legal as long as you are eligible.

Hello VJ''s . So my conditional GC expired on 02/04/18 i sent my package on Dec 2017 , I got my extension letter and June 18th 2018 i got  a notification saying that to process my case faster they have move it to California  Service Center. i have two question today . A couple days ago i was out the country when i was entering to US the officer say that she was going to send me to additional security checkup because my GC expired in Feb 4th 2018 and I still don't have my permanent GC.  I TOLD her that's why they gave me the extension letter while they process my case.  My question is,  can they do that? my Letter will expire Feb 4th 2019 I thought i was OK to travel with no problem. my SECOND QUESTION IS,  I have a friend that is going through the same process than me.  she got her extension letter and it will expired on august she hasn't gotten her permanent GC yet but she already applied for US citizenship . Is that possible or legal?

Yes  she will be returning back to DR in march I'm planning to get the return ticket before January 2nd the date that she is flying to USA so she can presenting as proof of she is going back home on march.

My mom is visiting me from DR  with a tourist visa on January.  i forgot that i had to buy round trip tickets and i only bought the one for her to come to USA  . My question is,  can i just buy one more "one way ticket" for her to go back to DR  as proof that she is going back home ?

OK , so My 2 years green card expired Feb 4th , 2018. I applied for lifting conditions on my green  card , I got 1 year extension letter where i can work and travel. ( Next week i will be traveling to Dominican Republic) 

Can you guys tell me your experience traveling with this letter? do they give you a hard time reentry to USA?

FOR those that filled I751 application to remove conditions on their green cards. how long did it take to get your permanent green card.

So I'm about to remove conditions for my 2 years green card I know  the uscis fees 595 us dollars and bbiometric fees 85$ us dollars do I have to pay both at the same time or only 595$ attach to the i751 application and then 85 $ at the application center the day they take my fingerprints?

is the green card the form I551/ im about to start the process of removing conditions and the homeland security deparment sent me letter reminding me that my green card is about to expire. In the letter say submit a copy of the front and back of your 2 year alien registration card ( form I551) along with the form I751.  Im assuming the form I551 is the green card . am i right?

do you know how much it could be if i buy a round trip ticket and then i change the date of depart ? 

how long can she stay in the states with that type of visa?
