Any idea on how to schedule an Infopass appointment without using the online tool?
I need to get the I-551 stamp because my extension letter is going to expire soon, and I have been stuck to the appointment application for 3 days in a row. They never have openings available.
Do they accept walk-ins? Can i make an appointment at the Field Office?
Thanks
Here is a link that you might find useful. Not sure if it actually works, but some people on that thread said it worked for them, so no harm in trying..

USCIS updated their processing time few days back and Seattle only moved 10 days ahead in 30 days
It was processing Dec 15, 2016 as of August 31, 2017
It is now processing Dec 25, 2016 as of September 30, 2017
10 days of processing in a month!!! Really??

I'm a September filer and had my interview yesterday at the San Bernardino office here in California, which is a much smaller field office compared to the Los Angeles office. The IO made a comment that the day before she was doing July paper filings (not sure if IO meant interviews or reviews) and that today they all seemed to be online filers. That they, not sure if IO meant that field office or all USCIS offices, were trying to balance out paper and online applications. I didn't ask what makes the online move faster since I'm sure it varies by case but it seems like they are trying to get every application moving forward.
Well, I'm being selfish here but it would be great if Seattle starts doing what other field offices are doing in terms of processing a balanced paper and online applications.
I've looked into this forum and some others to find any online filers from Seattle whose PD is before me (8/5/2017) to find at least one case that was filed online in Seattle to get a sense of if online filing is any faster for Seattle - but cannot find a single one. There are some Seattle online filers whose PD is later than mine and they are in the same boat as I am (applied and just waiting for interview to be scheduled). But, not a single online filer from Seattle before August 5, 2017 that I've found - so cannot say for sure if Seattle processes paper and online differently

It seems like filing online make a difference for some offices, but not others.
For example, online filers at the Seattle office are not being processed any faster than paper filers as of now.
Looks like it
It's frustrating that the process is not uniform across USCIS field offices and is not always first-come first-serve also.

Congratulations @darkchile
Looks like Orlando, FL also processes online filers faster than paper filers because the current processing time says they are backlogged till Nov, 2016 and this was recently updated (couple days back).

Hi friends,
if you call 1-800-375-5283 with receipt number , system said you will receive interview letter with in 90 days from date 'Inline interview date. if not follow the instruction in this message. my question here did anyone waiting in this form more than 90 days from inline interview date or is anyone try to contact USCIS after 90 days if no interview letter.
In my case i had email notification on 10/1* ..Testing and interview and i check online it show there inline interview from 10/1* .
Case Is In Line For An Interview
On October 1*, 2017, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC******* we will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
Please share your experience .
Thanks in advance
I didn't know about this. I know few people from Seattle who filed their N400 by mail who are still 'in-line' since late March 2017 without any interview date yet.
Since, I filed online, and although, I am technically "in-line" since August 31, 2017 (based on my online account & emails from USCIS) - my case status in egov website website still says "Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Emailed". When I called the number you provided, it repeats the same thing that is on my egov website status (Case Received). So, not much help there for me
-
And it looks like Seattle is only getting worse day by day.
For 3rd Quarter (April - June 2017) there are now 13500 pending cases
So, even though Seattle is averaging 8.5 to 9 months currently, it could easily go over 1 year or more in few months.
No good news anywhere for Seattle filers

Us Seattle filers aren’t making any progress....
Doesnt look like they process online filers any quicker than paper filers there....😞
I know, right? It's like Seattle online filers are not lucky as others.
I and @waiting_for_aos have the exact same timeline. Same GC date, Same Filing Date, Same In-line Date but s/he already has interview scheduled for December whereas mine's not

There seems to be one filer from Hawaii who was a paper filer and is scheduled for an interview akin to the timeline of the online filers although I'm sure it's very dependent on the field office backlogs. I guess we'll get a better sense as more paper filers start to hear about their interview dates. That's a shame about maybe not even hearing about the interview date until February or March. I got excited that it could be quicker than that. I wish I had filed online. I think at the time the only info I was seeing about it was that it was potentially glitchy, which is why I filed the paper route. Ah well, I'm going to try not to think about it until a letter arrives in the mailbox.
Don't beat yourself over it. There are online filers from May/June without interview schedule and there are paper filers from August who have already had their interview scheduled. So, like always, USCIS is really unpredictable. I think there are a lot of other variables dictating how soon an interview is scheduled (may be Field Office, may be background checks, may be applicant's country of origin, may be complexity of cases etc etc). That's just my guess. There is really no way of telling. I wish you all the very best and hope you hear the good news soon
Also, I came across this Q and A thread from a former USCIS officer. It is related to K1 visa processing, but we could learn a little on what actually goes inside the USCIS when processing a case. I think it is a good read

What's with everyone getting their case updates today?
I'm both happy and jealous at the same time
Anyways, congratulations everyone who got their interview scheduled and who got in-line for the interview..

Congrats! I wish I lived in San Diego since it's much faster than the Seattle field office!
You can say that again
I know few February filers from Seattle who are still waiting for their N400 interview appointment to be scheduled.
Why can't they transfer some of the backlogs from Seattle, WA to Yakima, WA?
I've seen Yakima, WA N400 filers getting processed super fast in VJ.
It is only about 2 hours drive from Seattle, and I think most people would be happy to do that drive if it meant faster processing...

So nice, I guess I should have filed it on line. Cool deal. Wow, your immigration journey is about to be over!! Good for you.
I am yet to figure out if online filing is actually faster. I know that till biometrics it can be faster because of few days saved in mailing the application and waiting for the biometrics notice. Instead, the online filers have biometrics pdf uploaded, so they can print one from online and do a walk-in.
But after the biometrics is done and the case is in-line for the interview and sent to the field office, I'm not sure if it is any faster for interview scheduling. I think it depends on field office workload.
But then again, I am seeing online filers whose interview has been scheduled a lot faster even though the processing time for the field office says it is backlogged a lot (Example: Dallas, TX).
See the N-400 July Filers Thread of VJ for Dallas, TX. The online filers have their interview scheduled already.
Even, San Diego, office processing times when I check online says they are backlogged to January, but online filers like @IPv6Freely who filed in August have already gotten their interview letters.
Does anyone know if online filing is actually faster than paper filing after in-line for interview? Please share your knowledge/expertise on the matter.

Interesting. I guess I am not even in line yet then.
You can go to the older version of the ELIS website by clicking the link below.
https://public-prod-elis2.uscis.dhs.gov/efile/
If it says "USCIS has scheduled your interview appointment and will mail you the appointment notice." then you should be in-line for interview

I don't know what ELIS is.
Not sure if you meant your status changed to "Interview was scheduled" in your online filing home page or the egov website.
If it is in egov website, I agree with @qaszxc1234 - your interview might actually have been scheduled for real.
If the status is in your ELIS account home page, after the recent website update, almost everyone has their status stuck in "We reviewed the biometrics" and only updating when an actual interview has been scheduled.
So, congratulations @IPv6Freely - I think you got real lucky and got your interview scheduled

I'm a paper filer, but the estimated wait time until USCIS schedules an interview looks correct to me!
The average processing timeline at the Seattle office is 8-8.5 months.
Thanks! Yup, I've heard that Seattle is processing N400 really slow.
Have you heard how the online filing is getting processed for Seattle?
I've yet to come find anyone from Seattle who filed online before Aug 7, 2017.

I just noticed today that my "Current Status" updated date changed from August 30, 2017 to August 15, 2017.
August 15, 2017 was the date I appeared for my biometrics and the status was changed to "We Reviewed your Biometrics".
August 30, 2017 was the date the status changed to "We have scheduled your interview and will mail you notice" before the website update.
I just noticed that today, the current status date was reverted back to "August 15". Has anyone else seen this change in their status or is it just me?

Holy ... it's telling me that they reviewed my biometrics
BUT
it also says estimated interview date JULY 2018!!!!
Did anyone else have an estimated completion date?!
Filed online on 8/28
Hi @VetsWife328,
My field office is also Seattle and I filed online too on August 7, 2017.
Current status is "We reviewed your bio-metrics" after the website update.
It was "USCIS has scheduled your interview and will mail you an appointment notice" before the website update. My Case Completion Estimate says "8 months" - June 2018. Interview estimate is "7 months". But, I've learnt from this forum that the estimate is not much reliable and/or accurate.
So, technically you can follow my case to see how things goes for online filers of Seattle.
After a lot of reading forums, I came to conclusion that although online filing is faster, it also depends on the field office. I have not found a Seattle field office N400 online filer on this forum yet who applied before August 7, 2017. I am looking continuously so that I can follow his/her case to kinda know what to expect.
If you find anyone from Seattle field office N400 filers, who filed before August 7, 2017 - please let me know so that I can follow their case.
Thanks,
NaturalizeHope

Wow! Congratulations @cj777 and @Jesse28
That was quick interview scheduling.
I applied online too on August 7 and have been in-line for interview for more than a month. No update yet after "USCIS has scheduled your interview and will mail you the notice". I've been following this forum and it looks like the even though we file online, the actual interview scheduling depends on the final field office workload. Looks like Dallas, TX is the fastest among interview scheduling.
My current status is reverted back to "We're reviewed your bio-metrics" after the website design.
Where are the online Seattle filers? Anybody else interview scheduled faster after filing online in Seattle?

But wouldn't that make things more complicated. I mean, you have to abide by constitution and laws of 3-4 nations, tax implications, jobs etc etc.
